Been waiting and finally own this classic remake on blu ray of one of the best movies ever made. It's very well made and directed by the horror icon Tom Savini. A dark and gory retelling that doesn't disappoint.

A Worthy Tribute To A Masterpiece!

First and foremost, this is not the original Night Of The Living Dead film but, rather, the 1990 interpretation coming from effects master Tom Savini. If you're looking for the original Night Of The Living Dead then I highly and wholeheartedly recommend the Criterion edition of said film. Anyway, the 1990 version of Night Of The Living Dead serves more as a tribute than a remake and, as a result, the film shares many similarities to the original structurally and even aesthetically. The actors (including noteworthy names from Candyman and Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer) do a phenomenal job re-creating the original's claustrophobic atmosphere and all of the performances are believable and sincere. The 90s were certainly not the heyday of zombie pictures and this, despite coming out at the very beginning of the decade, may very well be the best one from that time period. Highly recommended!

One of the best—if not the best—zombie flicks out there. I highly recommend to any fan of 90’s or Zombie-based horror.

Night of the Living Dead from 1990 in my opinion is a classic in it's own right. While the story itself is very similar to the original, I think there are enough differences from the classic film to keep things interesting. I really like Barbara in this one, she is less useless, and proves to be a great marksman.
And if you are a Candyman fan you have Tony Todd as Ben. I think all the performances are good, the music is moody enough, and the make-up effects are really good for the time. Personally, I am not exactly a fanatic for zombies, but I still really like this film.

Remake of a classic does not disappoint

Its hard to imagine George Romero's classic getting the remake treatment but it sure did not disappoint. Cult Superstar Tony Todd leads the film as Ben. Another horror icon, Tom Savini directs the film. If your a horror film this is one you cannot pass up.

This is the Tom Savini version from 1990 in case you were unsure. Well made. Faithful to the original. Subtle changes that keep fans guessing. Well casted and acted. Top notch make-up from the master himself, Tom Savini.
The only knock is the cinematography, or possibly camera type, gives the movie a made-for-tv sheen. But otherwise, it's good.

I am an unabashed fan of the 1990 remake of NotLD. It was my first introduction to the Living Dead films and I feel it still holds up nearly 30 years on. This release has great video, audio and supplements, but it still feels "no frills" and just like another catalog release. Wish that Shout! could take a whack at it and give this underappreciated cult classic the treatment it's fans deserve.

A Fantastic Remake

Before remakes became a thing, George Romero penned a revisit of his original NOTLD (this time with Tom Savini directing), and the updated film (from 1990) is, in my opinion, a much more fleshed out effort. In ways I believe this one exceeds the original.

The remake of night of the living dead is a cult favorite. The transfer is way better the the previous release. All the extras are ported over from the dvd release. But in all it’s a great buy for this classic

One of the best remakes ever. The classic didn’t need a remake but Tom Savini did it right. Plus having the legend Tony Todd to play the main hero.

Though a better price and picture quality than the previous Twilight Time blu-ray release I was hoping for more extras. Maybe the next release will add the extras. As for this release I do like the blu-ray quality picture.
