Bought these a month or so ago and so far the system is reliable and captured great video. The configuration and getting the app to work was not easy (I still have to get the alerts working correctly) but overall - works good.

overall love the device only drawbacks are having to enter code so often for playback and regular monitoring and poor instructions. many times away from home can not view image.

I previously had the Night Owl Lite 4 channel and upgraded to the Night Owl - 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor High-Definition DVR. The video quality is excellent in comparison with the Night Owl Lite 4 channel. however , the email setting could be simpler for setting up.

I've owned Night Owl products before and have had no problems with installation or durability. The install of this system is super easy and straight forward, no manual entering of I.P. information, it can all be scanned through your smart phone or tablet (for the app software). The clarity is much better than a standard 480 system, the night vision is sufficient but grainy. The software is simple to install and use. Night Owl also has one heck of a support group...ask any questions and you'll get a quick response.

Great camera system. Good picture quality during the day, the app is awesome ( no additional charges) but will drain your phone battery. The night vision quality needs some improvement and installing did take some time.

Easy to set up however the only complaint is you have to get user manual online only they should include a guide on how to use all the features with the product. Otherwise it works great and plan on purchasing another.

I love the camera systems but Nightowl customer service is very very bad to get ahold of them. The system is simple to set up but its hard to setup the view on regular computer.

I've had this system installed for about a month now, so it's fairly new. The The cameras are clear and work well, motion sensors work well too. The range of view goes very deep, but they are bullet cams and the scope of view is narrow as opposed to wide. My house is big and I could easily use 6-8 cameras to surround the outside of it. The pictures are color in daytime and B&W at night - no sound, just picture. The cams are hard wired to the DVR so you have to run wire through attic or crawlspace unless you want to leave wires exposed for people to trip over. I chose hard wiring because I had trouble with wifi cams. The DVR has lots of options and I haven't explored that much yet. However, for some reason it does not keep time accurately. No matter how many times I reset the time, it always jumps an hour and a few minutes ahead. So when I go back to review the motion detections, I have to keep that in mind. Not sure if there's a time zone setting or what. I give it 3 stars because it's a good system and seems to work well. However if you want more bells and whistles, or a broader range of view, you're going to have to pay more.

Our house was recently broke in to and we wanted a system to record and watch the house while at work. App works good and so for no problems. The hard part was running the cables in attic which took all day but we did not want to go with wireless. We were disappointed that system was reduced in price by $100 three weeks after we got it and best buy would not price match after 15 days. that's a big difference.

Super easy install. Very clear cameras. The networking was very easy as well.

We purchased these because our car wash was being vandilized. So far they are working great and we have saved some money catching people in thier own mistakes instead of our equipment failing. You would be surprised how many people cant figure out how to use a car wash...LOL. We are very happy with this purchase.

Great picture. great night viewing also. Simple to hook up and operate. Mobile app is a little complicated and works intermittently. Priced good for the value.

Obviously this is not the "high-end" surveillance. But it wouldn't be at this price. It is, however, very effective. Took a couple hours to install and run the cables. The only "issue" that I have is regarding the iPhone app. It would be nice if there was a way to schedule the push notifications without just toggling it on and off. I don't need it to buzz me when I'm sitting in my office and my crews are out on the property loading up trucks. I know they are there. Other than that, pretty easy to set up. Does what it is supposed to do.

This is a great hard wired system if you are looking for the most bang for your buck. I was able to do the installation myself after talking to a friend that installed his and watching a few YouTube videos. The wires at the camera are able to be completely hidden by drilling a hole where the camera base is mounted. The user interface of the DVR isn't the greatest. It's not as intuitive as I would have liked, and it takes some playing around with to understand the controls. It does allow the option to only record when motion is detected. The outer shell of the DVR is also plastic which I thought was weird. I would've liked it to have been sturdier. Overall, it's a great system with excellent video quality for the price.

I purchased this night owl system on a Saturday, because I had some issues with neighbors, easy hookups on Sunday morning, Wednesday some items in the yard were missing, well the night owl recorded my neighbors kid stealing gas and recycles, the sheriff came just the kid was getting home. Thank you night owl. One of the cameras didn't work, but the online chat support was easy and helpful, I sent the bad one with their shipping label, a week later I got a new one.

This system was easy to install and clear video recording. Even though it has night vision, would recommend using exterior lights At night for less grainy recording.
