    The cameras only have 1 infrared diode on them, so you can't count on them in very dark conditions, but if you have an area with street lights (or night lights if used indoors) they work pretty well. The video quality in daylight is very good. This is a good starter set, the DVR will accommodate twice the number of cameras it ships with so you can expand if you like, which is what I plan on doing. The DVR takes some getting used to with the controls, but if you need to review a period of time from one or more of the cameras, it's not difficult and it works well. the recordings even mark the sections where motion was detected and can skip those sections without motion. Caution with this because a breeze blowing leaves or flying insects that come in camera range will register as motion, but you can fast forward if you need. Get an installer who knows what they are doing, particularly for setting up the DVR. Once it's set up, you're set. Until you decide you want to install more cameras or upgrade to cams with better night vision. I would recommend to a friend, the caveat being that they are not in a very dark area and want to monitor the place at night.

    I have set up and used about 10 of these systems now, the last 2 have been the 1080p versions. They are great cameras, easy to use and set up, and the video quality is fantastic. Highly recommend.

    Night vision very grainy

    I bought this product about a week ago and I'm very unhapoy. The app is not user friendly, forget reviewing a previous image remotely, constantly kicks the DVR off line very hard to connect remotely on your smart phones. This product claims it's 1080 but it's nowhere close. I have had other products with 720p before they were a lot cheaper but better quality pic. Night vision is a joke, be ready to have flood lights out there to see something. I have already had to replace my DVR once. Customer service is in India and it sucks .

    1080 is so blurry and sandy at night time.

    Why am i writing this. To prevent any potential seller from getting thing that it wont work for them. BAD Quality for being 1080HD, I am thinking of its being 900 TVL because the footage appears to be so blurry and not sharp in the morning, then it get super grainy and sandy at night even under a bright light. I tried in all way to adjust but nothing seem helpful. I wish i could return this because I was thinking that i should trust Bestbuy ...but its too late now when I returned from my trip. Not good.

      I apologize for the blurry and grainy images you have been getting with our system,
      our suggested solution for the grainy images at night is to best relocate the camera away from light sources. the darker the environment the camera is the better the night vision will be.
