The best security system I've purchased so far. The quality of the videos and pictures are amazing. I could literally see a frog across the road. The night vision is better than expected. Will definitely buy again

The Night Owl 8 ch with 8 cameras is just amazing. I loved the picture quality. Install can be easy depending on your property, running all the cables is the hardest part of this, but it pays off to do it. Do while it is cold or not as hot because the attic temperature can be bruttal. I have had other camera systems in the past and these cameras by far feel thebest and look nice. The DVR looks great amd easy to connect with an external monitor. All cables included yet if the run is longer than the cables provided you will need to get an extension. It comes with two power connectors to power up the cameras and also has a 3 connector for the DVR. Some electrical work will be needed if you want a nice connection in a closet to keep the DVR a little hidden in case of a breakin. You can also connect a regular TV via the HDMI wire provided. Overall i am very happy and satisfied with this system, the quality of the build is just perfect and you have enough options to keep your property safe with this security camera system.

I bought this item on black friday for a discount and it does a splendid job of continuous recording. Had some issues and customer support helped me when i contacted them. Its isnt perfect and some app and recording issues do occur (not recording motion events, 1 camera turns on and off randomly, stopped sending notifications) but overall, id recommend this for the price.

The Night Owl 8-channel Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K NVR security system is an overall great product. The company is also American owned, based, and operated, which is a huge plus. I have not had to use Customer Service/Technical Support at this time but the availability offered is great. Night Owl is also NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) and FCC compliant so you know your information is secure. On top of that, there are no cloud storage options right now (at least that I could find), which I would normally say detracts from the product, but it does in fact provide an extra layer and assurance and security. It sounds like cloud storage might be added in the future, but the setup works great as long it's wired correctly. Overall, setup and installation was easy as was setting up via the app. You can plug a monitor directly into the NVR system but it's not needed thanks to the app. Functionally, the app works pretty well and I was able to add 2 additional cameras (that weren't included with the system but purchases directly from Night Owl with no issue. You can install the system yourself but I had my electrician wire the ethernet cables throughout my home and property. Again, this is a great system that was easy to setup.

This system was easy to install and setup. This Night Owl system came with an app for your phone which is awesome. I highly recommend Night Owl security cameras.

Great night vision, used to replace a 5mp unit, easy to install

I have had Night Owl for many years (not 4k) and we use the night owl HD app and it works flawless on the phones and on the PC , but this new night owl i purchased you have to use the Night Owl PROTECT app and its TOTAL GARBAGE !! If your only going to use it on your phone then you might be ok , but if you ever plan on viewing it on your pc then forget it ! Oh and there is No audio to hear whats going on , only audio to make a sound thru the cameras like smile your on camera which you cant even understand because its so distorted .. Also , be ready for your hard drive to fill up super fast because Night Owl protect does not know the difference between detecting humans or vehicles . I could kick myself for not going with a Lorex system . This night owl is TOTAL GARBAGE ! Dont even waste a penny on it !!!

First if you are having an issue adjusting the zone sensitivity for each camera under record settings it’s not just you. We tried it on 4 different phones and the system will just reset it to medium if you set the lowest setting. They tried to play it off as a phone issue. Nope. This system will say it sees a face or car when there is nothing there. The main reason I wanted to adjust the sensitivity. Just so you know they use the same software on all their kits so I would avoid them all together. If I could give 0 stars for this company I would. Absolutely terrible experience and product.

The app was very unstable, until it suddenly stopped receiving signal from the DVR. I can no longer review the footage, it stopped recording. It is totally useless.

Good picture quality. Settings and adjustments on the cameras. Basically none what so ever. Best way to describe it would be as you get tacos but only shells no meat, no cheese, no tomato, no sauce, no onion, You can not fine tune it to the way one wants, the recording is set to continuous but it only save what it apparently wants, and just clips. Had one event happen and it caught the first min of it then just stopped as there was still activity goin and then there is no footage on the camera with activity but the cameras with no activity had every min, DONT LIKE THEM WONT BE BUYING THIS BRAND AGAIN FOR SURE

The HDD gets extremely hot! too hot that the system stops recording! that states no hdd told mentioned this to the store that this can make my house catch on fire they sold me this product and total tech installed now they want me to unistall it by myself and bring the product back to the store to be able to do a refund or exchange its been 4 months now with equipment that doesnt work. i since stoped shoping at the store i have been an elite customer for too long not anymore! dont buy this safe your time and money! so much for 200 dollars a year as well.

I should of done more research before purchasing this setup. Installing these cameras was easier then expected but after the install process I noticed that both the live and playback video stutters when viewing movement of any kind (vehicles/humans). This is an annoying issue when attempting to identify a subject, which kinda defeats the purpose of having security cameras. I’ve contacted support techs and all they could do is apologize for the issue since this particular model offers very little configuration. I also left many advice posts on numerous Reddit pages with no resolution. I even changed the Ethernet cord this system came with for a higher quality 5e cable with no resolution and my fiber network consistently provides 950+mbps. I also disconnected and re connected the wires and also restarted and restored the system numerous times. Oh Yea! The app is also a headache, don’t take my word for it look at the IOS App Store reviews. This product gets 1 star from me for doing the bare minimum, which is provide a clear “4K” picture of where the cameras are pointed until an object moves on the screen and then I get the choppy effect. These cameras have been so terrible I had to leave my arlo 2 cameras that I wanted to replace up, since the video playback is buttery smooth and clear when viewing movement. The reason I wanted to replace the arlo was because I was tired of constantly charging batteries and the arlo didn’t also capture movements. But the night owl makes the arlo look like the best system money can buy in comparison. Please consider other products before settling for this one like I did, do not make this mistake.
