Easy setup. Installation instructions are online. Cameras are fairly adjustable, but seem fragile. Amateur learning curve is about a 1-2 weeks for settings and adjusting. Maximum cable run up to ~150 ft. from the base unit. Clear videos to 70 -80 ft.

It's my 4th security system from Night Owl. I had to upgrade because my DVR die, a 4 years old system. Instead of to try to send to fix, I decided to look the new system out. I decided to select this model, a 4K camera and DVR 2T. Honestly, the quality of the video is amazing. I can see really in detail the face of people, the video is really clear and the angle of view is perfect. I think they increase the sensibility for detection. Indeed, 4K is a way better than HD. Why to buy HD when the 4K is out. My system is wired, but I plan to add more camera WIFI. This system accepts 4 more camera in WIFI and the 8 wired existing. The advantage of the system, if you have existing HD camera installed, the DVR recognized them. The new app I am using on my phone is great and it's a big change from my older system. Very easy to do the setting with the DVR.

I had an old NightOwl system that I upgraded with this one and was happy to find it used the same cables (BNC) so even though I went from 720p to 4K it worked great. Picture quality is much improved. Night mode is great. Lights are a good feature, except people detection is a bit off. UI on NVR is OK, don't like how the least number of cams you can have up in 9 as it shows no signal for one and it annoys me. App works great, no special model/router configuration required. Can't get the unit to show on the PC, but iOS and Android is fine.

Camera quality is great, easy to set up a connection and get access on our phones. More than enough cameras to make sure my property has coverage and give me peace of mind.

I bought this system in Nov. 2022. Within 3 months I was done playing around and now I looking for a new system again. Starting from the beginning. I bought a Swann system almost 10 years ago. It had flaws but did what I needed. Till one day the NVR went out. So I was looking for a new system. Best Buy had all of them in a glass cabinet. I had to call someone over to open it. I told him I wanted to look at a Swann system and pointed at it. He opened the cabinet and handed me this Night Owl system, locked the cabinet and walked away. I didn’t realize at first it was not Swann. While reading the back of the box I liked what it said. Then I flipped it over and noticed the night owl. At first I thought this was a type of Swann system. Then I figured out it was a different company. I thought about it and decided it would be nice to try another brand because Swann was not that great. Maybe these are better. So I bought it. Biggest mistake I have made in the last 10 years. Right off the bat this thing has been a piece of junk. I have been on the phone with their tech support so many times I can’t count. The last time I called them. They told me the only fix for my problem was to format the hard drive once a month. Currently every time I connect to the system with the app on my phone it causes the nvr to lock up and then it reboots. They finally gave in and told me to send it in for warranty repair. At this point. I don’t even want it repaired. I just want my money back. The system sucks Their support sucks The company sucks If I were Best Buy I would take it off the shelves immediately.

The cameras have been good except for one was bad and did not last a year. Also the new DVR kept on rebooting and would not work properly.

Fairly easy to install and setup. Give great images day or night. Phone app gets activity warnings.

The image are good but one camera doesn't work at night ,i have to replaced ....they had to make sure all cameras work properly

We picked these cameras because they recorded with and without internet and we have internet issues. The images have been clear, but we have had nothing but trouble from the Hard drive and every slight movement sets off the alerts. It also takes forever for the app to actually show what is happening when you hear noises outside. We have had to reset the hard drive multiple times and in less than two years it seems our hard drive has died completely. Everything about this has been a waste of time and money.

I purchased this with a low expectation for video quality. Boy was I wrong. These are Great!! I use them in a small business and would highly recommend for that or for anywhere needed. Video is very clear and the app for your phone is super easy to use!! Highly recommended!!

I finally got the cameras installed after waiting for two months. The cameras are working fine. It looks good in the day and at night it looks decent. I thought the cameras will have audio but they don’t. Also the app is not bad at all. The reason why i gave it a four star is because it has no audio.

This system is an upgrade to my previous surveillance system. Easy to set up. Would have been better if the 8 cameras had color during the night and the wires that comes with the system needs to be longer than 60 feet. I had to buy the 5 (100feet) wires connected to the 5 (60feet) wires for 5 different cameras, 1 (200feet) wire for 1 camera, and used 2 (60feet) wires on two of the cameras.
