Amazing image quality and bright colors. Feels much more substantial and hefty compared to the G series 50mm 1.8, and feels like it is built with much higher quality material. Massive step up from the G series. Fast autofocus, very quiet.

This lens is amazing. Super sharp. The day I got it I went for a photo walk and my images came out wonderfully. Great build quality as well. Does not feel cheap. Definitely worth the price.

    My 50mm Go-To Lens

This is an excellent mirrorless Nikkor Z Series lens with the added bonus of it being an S Line which means premium glass and coatings. I have a similar spec lens for my DSLR's but what really sets this lens apart is the clarity it produces. The photos almost seem three-dimensional with the beautiful soft bocca backgrounds. This will be one of my go-to lenses for sure.

    Nifty Fifty

Nikon user for many years but this is only my second lens for the Z mount. The depth of field is astonishing. The lens is relatively compact and light. This lens could theoretically serve as an all purpose, always on glass. It's not insanely pricey and for the price, I don't think you'll find something better in this aperture/focal length combination. There's a reason many people love the nifty fifty and use only this combination. Unless you're doing a specific type of photography and need a telephoto, a macro, or a wide-angle lens, this will do everything you need it to.

This lens is awesome in low light conditions. No aberrations that I could see, and the depth of field is wonderful. It's like giving an eyeball to your camera.

Wasn’t a huge fan of 50mm focal length until I tried this lens. I had to have it and couldn’t be more satisfied with my purchase. Quite possible the best 50mm made.

Other than your kit zoom lens this should be first lens you buy. Very versatile for street, portrait even landscape panorama shots. Beautifully sharp and focuses fast. The Z version of the nifty 50. It is a little pricey but that is Nikon not bestbuy. I am using it on a Z6ii.

I recently bought this lens and I think it is one of the best 50mm lenses I have ever used (and I have used a few over the years from a variety of makers). I only shoot at f/1.8 and it is incredibly sharp across the frame, the bokeh is nice and smooth. I really recommend.

I purchased this lens specifically for taking pictures of stage performances. The f/1.8 is needed because the director likes to keep the light low and this fast lens met the challenge. Great image quality when paired with my Nikon Z5 camera. This would be an excellent general purpose lens for walking around town as well.

I was using a Sigma 50mm 1.4 prior to purchasing this. The Sigma is already a sharp lens but I wanted to try native. BEST DECISION EVER! This is much sharper than the sigma 50mm art lens and better yet, its a native lens. I dont need an adapter to use it.

This is one super sharp lens, even when shot wide open. I've found virtually no chromatic aberration in any of the images taken with this lens. Although very sharp, I find that the images have a nice character to them and don't look clinical. The size and price aren't quite in the nifty-fifty territory, but it is relatively light and compact. If you like to shoot at this focal length and want very sharp images, I highly recommend considering this lens.

Outstanding image quality. Online reviewers have praised this lens with good reason. It is sharp, even wide open at 1.8. If you bought your Nikon Z with the 24-70 f4, this is a perfect compliment to deliver the nice blurry background effect on people portraits. The level of detail is impressive. It is compact enough that you don't mind leaving it in you bag all the time.
