I also have this lens along with the 70-300. This lens is good for all around indoor/outdoor pictures. The pictures below were taken with this lens with the d60 while on vacation in Oregon.

Great Value

This lens has brought new life to my camera. It has a great range and is fantastic for wildlife photos. I will say that it's a little challenging to get good shots in low-light settings, but with some tweaking of the camera settings that can be fixed. If you're deciding between the VR lens and the cheaper one, please shell out the extra money for this one - it's a necessity. Overall, I think this lens is a great value and I highly recommend it.

Definitely Worth The Price

For the price you can't beat the quality. Images are crystal clear whether shooting at 55mm or 200mm. The "Vibration Reduction" (VR) is excellent. I've taken clear detailed photos of the moon with no tripod. I do a lot of hiking in the mountains and the light weight, compact design is a definite plus. This is NOT a macro lens so don't expect to be able to take extreme close-up photos. You can get good close-ups from just a little over 3 feet from the subject being photographed though. If your just getting into photography or on a limited budget this is definitely a good zoom lens to get.

Great upgrade lens

This is a great lens for distance shots. It takes magnificent pictures, and is a nice upgrade from the standard lens that came with our camera. Our initial lens only went up to 55mm while this one starts at 55 and goes up to 200mm. It is a huge difference for getting great shots while hiking. We do find that we have to switch between this lens and the other on the hike, depending on what we see. We could see flowers along the path that needs the small lens or objects in the distance that need the zoom lens. It would be nice if this covered 18-200 instead of 55-200 as we wouldn't need to switch at all.
Overall great product for the price! A much needed accessory if you are not close to what you are photographing.

This was a gift to myself and I totally love it! It does what I wanted it to do. I think I will like the other lens which zooms to 18-100. With this one i think I wouldn't have to change my lens each time when I'm too close to the kids. Because my kids are always moving, I'm either to close or too far from them.

I have a 35mm f/1.8 nikkor and a 18-55mm f/3.5-5 lens. This tele was a nice add to my small collection. It does what I need it to do for now by being cost effective. If you want to shoot in low light or animals I'd update to a tele that focuses faster.

Nikon AF 55-200 lens was bought with Nikon 3200 DSLR camera at a reduced package price. For my use it's an adequate lens. Easy operation, fast auto focus, good pcture quality and VR capable.

Nothing is perfect, so I'm giving this lense 4 out of 5 stars. I got it in a bundle deal with a Nikon camera and it was worth every penny. I use it so much. I got it to take photos of the many humming birds in our backyard and it does a wonderful job zooming in so I don't scare them away! I could still get another lenses and get closer though!

I bought the 55 - 200mm DX VR lens as a second lens for my D5200 that has a 18-55mm lens. In 35mm camera terms, this lens is a 82 - 300mm lens making it ideal for things like portraits and sports photography. It's maximum aperture is only f4/5.6, but with the great high ISO performance of my D5200 this isn't a problem. It's relatively small and light weight and I've used it in the VR image stabilization mode both hand held and on a monopod, and have been very satisfied.
