glad I added this to my purchase when I bought my nikon 3300. Takes great photos and allows for my camera to zoom in significantly more than the standard lens.

Fixed lenses are great and all, but sometimes you just have to be able to zoom in for that winning shot!
The Nikkor 55-200mm lens does it all. The small end captures most everything you would shoot on any given day. The long end gives you the flexibility to shoot from a distance. Face it, there's just some things you dont want to shoot up close.
With the added VR technology we've grown to love, shooting videos is a "Snap!". The steadiness is, well, extremely steady! And the ability to switch between manual and auto focus gives you focal freedom that everyone could appreciate.

I use this all the time with my Nikon D3200 for anything further than 10 feet or so away. It captures great detail and is great for a beginner photographer.

I am very happy with the quality of this lens. The standard lens that came with my camera was 18-55mm. I debated long and hard over getting this 55-200mm zoom, or buying the 18-200mm instead. In hindsight, I really wish I would have gone with the 18-200mm, only because I end up swapping lenses out multiple times now on each photo outing. I do a lot of zoom work, but when photographing my kids, I like the pulled back shots so I can actually see the background of where they are and what they are doing without having to be several feet back from them. Don't get me wrong, for the price, this lens is great. I just have to be better at planning the types of shots I'm going to take to avoid the lens swapping.

I teach a class called EAST in Arkansas and I bought this to add to the collection for my Nikon D7100. Students like the zoom and clarity of pictures. A friend has a Nikon D90 and it worked great on his camera as well. Auto-Focus is a great and a must.

I got the D3200 with a 18-55 mm lens and added this 55-200 mm Nikon R lens to it. I think both of these lens together is ideal for a begineer since it will let you shoot both near and far away objects.

I bought this lens for my wife to use with her Nikon 3200 camera. The standard lens was not good for taking long range photos. She instantly feel in love with this lens. She constantly talks about the lens long range ability and how easy it is to use.

The Nikon Nikkor 55-200mm is very good lens for someone who's just starting or just trying to shoot a little more further. The lens take pretty sharp pictures and if your into landscape photography this is a decent one too. You could also take portrait photos but I'd rather use the stock 18-50mm or a prime 50mm lens.

Purchased this lense primarily to use in my classroom. I take lots of photos of the children and this lense works much better than the zoom in the confines of the classroom.
Pictures are bright and clear. This works well with on the tripod with the remote which makes posed photos a breeze.
