Ninja Coffee Bar- Single Serve (CF111)
I have a long drive to go a short distance each morning. So I get up early and have a cup of coffee. My older 12 cup was put out of service long ago as it's too much of a hassle to make one cup. So although I love good black coffee in the morning, I have been getting by with instant coffee but not anymore. The Ninja Coffee Bar (CF111) solves all of the problems I had as a coffee drinker.
The coffee maker is 9 ½” W x 8 ½ L x 14 ½ H, so be sure you have the counter space. The controls on the front are dead simple to use. Set the size of the cup, put water in the easy to read level markings on the water container, add the correct coffee from the attached measuring spoons of almost any kind to the lifetime filter, put your cup on the correct base, you hit start and within a few minutes you have a great cup of coffee.
The unit itself is perfect for the modern stainless steel appliance kitchen. Its very easy to clean and making my black coffee is only one way it can save you from stopping on the way to work. It can do Over Ice coffee, Cafe Forte and Specialty varieties along with its built in hot and cold frother. It can use regular size cups, XL cups, travel and XL Multi Server mugs. What makes this different from many of the other Ninja Coffee Bars is your are limited to one cup or container at at time. For me that's’ perfect and since it is so fast I am sure it is perfect for many others too.
Finally the product is packed with one of the simplest guides for using all of the features I have seen. Clear instructions on a very colorful manual is sure to make me try some new ways of having coffee that I just wouldn’t have thought about before. This is a great product that I would recommend for almost any coffee drinker unless your brewing needs are for a full pot.

Versatile Coffee Maker

The Ninja came nicely packaged and was easy to unpack and set up. The last time I owned a coffee maker it was one of the older ones that filled up a 12 cup glass carafe. I've used the "K" machines and the nice thing about the Ninja is that it doesn't require you to go out and buy little plastic cups of coffee. You can use any ground coffee that you enjoy and use more or less depending on how strong you would like the brew to be.
The Ninja also has multiple settings (see pictures) for the size cup you're looking to fill; the strength of the blend or Iced Coffee if you prefer that. Since we primarily drink Iced Coffee in our house, this feature is a big money saver. We haven't had a chance to make a "Ninjaccino" yet but it does have that feature available and we'll try it out at some point.
Another common complaint with these types of machines is that the water line can develop mold. This one has a nice feature button for CLEAN which runs through a cycle of 22oz of water to flush out the lines. If this sits for any amount of time I would recommend running it to make sure you've got fresh water, just set it to Cup so you're not wasting a lot of water. Before you use it the first time out of the box you'll need to run 2 clean cycles on the XL Travel Mug size to really flush it out.
There is no glass carafe that comes with this unit. It's designed for you to use with your own mugs. It will fit XL travel mugs all the way down to a regular coffee cup. Depending on the size of the cup, it has a fold down tray to hold the smaller cups up closer to the drip mechanism or fold it up for larger travel mugs.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who needs a solution for flexibility between producing large amounts of coffee or just a single serving without breaking the bank on refill cartridges.

An Amazing Cup of Coffee!

The Ninja is an amazing coffee maker, which makes very delicious coffee. Probably the best I've ever had at home, a cup or two at a time. This is the best coffee maker I have ever seen. It comes with a reusable filter, or you can use paper filters in it. I can do a small or large cup or an extra-large travel cup size. It also has a multi-serve size which is about 2 cups of coffee.
The self-cleaning feature is a welcomed feature for a coffee connoisseur, as nothing can ruin good coffee like a dirty coffee maker. The self-cleaning process goes very quickly and ensures that the next cup will be as good as the first.
The last thing to note is the frother, which feels sturdy and like it will last a long time. It easily turns a few tablespoons of milk into a cup of delicious frothed milk.
The included coffee drink recipe book is something I am excited to work my way through as well.

This makes a great cup of coffee. Everything you need is there except the coffee. There is a built in scoop on the right side of the unit.
The only real drawback is the recipe book that is included. The recipe book lacks some important info, like how much water to have in the reservoir. Also, many of the recipes are very vague in how to prepare the drink. Needing to have a blender for some of the recipes makes for a undertaking to have a simple cup of coffee. As a hint, the frother will substitute for a blender in most cases.
The unit uses #2 filters.

Great coffee maker for brewing individual cups

I love coffee, but actually brewing one or two cups is often too much trouble, especially if it's a spur of the moment thing, so a few years ago I bought a pod brewing system. The Ninja Coffee Bar - Single Serve is changing that.
When I first unpacked the Ninja, I was surprised at how little it weighted; I was expecting something heavier, since it appeared to be slightly bigger than the pod machine I have. There was also virtually no 'assembly'; other than the frothing tool that attaches to a pivoting arm at the back of the brewer, the only 'assembly' required was the removal of some tape that kept various parts from shifting during shipping. After reading through the quick start guide, I filled the reservoir with water, ran the brewer thru two cleaning cycles, and then brewed my first cup. That whole process (unpacking to brewing) took about 15 minutes... and the coffee was great! To compare, I bought a few bags of ground coffee for which I also have pods. As you would expect, the ground coffee had much more flavor, but the brewing options on the Ninja give you even more control over flavor and body, and the brewing time is comparable to the pod system.
The unit doesn't have an overly large footprint, it's a bit larger than my pod system, and it has a very stylish appearance that looks great with my stainless steel appliances. One of the things I liked from the start was how easy the reservoir was to grab and remove; there's a built-in 'handle', making it very easy to remove/replace the reservoir with one hand. In comparison, the reservoir on my pod system is a bit harder to remove/replace... I'm not even sure I could do it using one hand. Another nice Ninja feature is the folding platform used to hold normal sized mugs; it can be folded up and out of the way if you're brewing an oversize/travel mug. My pod system (granted it's several years old) has a removable stand, which is kind of a pain at times because it's just sitting on the counter, beside the unit. It's also nice that there's a two-sized scoop that hides nicely on the side of the unit; almost everything you need is right at your fingertips. With regard to the frothing tool, I haven't used it that much, but it does work, and if you want froth on your drink, then I'm sure you'll like it. The only thing I didn't like about it is that you have to microwave the milk separately if you want it hot. Not a huge deal (at least for me), but it'd be great if they could run steam to the froth tool so the unit could be 'self-sufficient'. The only other thing that bugged me is that the cup-size selector is 'soft', meaning you can turn the selector infinitely in one direction or the other... it simply selects the last option. There are 'stops' that you can feel, as you turn the knob, and the current selection is lit up, so it's not like it's a free spinning knob, but it just bugs me that the switch is allowed to go past the end positions... call it a pet peeve. The unit has a reusable filter (what I've been using), but you can use paper filters, which would result in a quicker cleanup, but even with the reusable filter, cleanup is only about 2-3 minutes.
All of the things I've mentioned above, coupled with the fact that bagged coffee is probably 3-4 times cheaper than the same coffee in pods, makes a compelling case for buying this brewing system. Yes, it takes a few minutes to scoop the coffee into the filter, and yes, cleanup takes a few minutes, but the difference in taste is worth those extra 4-5 minutes, if you have them. As for now, I'm using both the Ninja and my pod system, but with time, my pod system might start collecting dust.

Overall the Ninja Coffee Bar (single serve) has been a very easy to use coffee maker. The coffee it makes tends to be better than what I have been able to get out of my Keurig machine. The only real drawback is that it takes longer to make coffee than the Keurig. But the fact that the coffee is of better quality and overall it ends up being cheaper because I don't have to buy k-cups or pods makes the extra time worth it in the end. I also like the milk foaming attachment. It works very very well and gives you the option of cold or hot milk foam so it works well. I also like the fact that you can brew specialty brews with just a single button. 2 ounces of very very concentrated coffee make for a very good cappuccino. The only thing that keeps me from giving the Ninja a 5 is that extra time it takes to brew a cup, and the fact that because this is the single serve version of the coffee bar that you have to take that extra time every time you want a cup. There is no real option for a full size carafe anymore.

Prior to getting the NInja Coffee Bar we had both an espresso machine and a keurig single cup coffee maker taking up space, including a separate milk frother. This machine puts all that into one.
Build: the Ninja Coffee bar is built from lots of different textures of plastic, but it still feels like that... mostly plastic. There are some metal like materials, but the build quality is decent.
Controls: There is much written about the different modes that the Ninja Coffee bar can serve up, I won't regurgitate those here, but serve it to say that I have found the controls a little bit to learn but once you have them down they all make sense. There are A LOT of options here even for someone who is tech savvy.
Brew Options: The ability to make anything from espresso shots to carafes of coffee is one way that this machine replaces my others. I mostly use the single serve function, but it's nice to be able to make more or make "espresso" when you want to.
Brew Quality: Single serve turns out very similar in brew quality and taste to my existing Keurig, which is the standard that this machine needs to live up to. Carafe brews exceed what I used to expect from drip brewers. Espresso shots are sort of a caveat. It doesn't make true espresso, but I enjoyed the flavor of those brews enough to forego using my nespresso machine. The milk frother is a nice touch and works well also.
Overall: This machine has just okay build quality, but turns out decent coffee. This is what I see as the next generation of the single serve coffee makers and I'm happy to see that it does away with the pods and excess garbage.

I doubt it will save me any money, but it sure brews a quick, rich cup of coffee, and I love it.
It comes with a permanent filter, but you can use a paper filter if you prefer. The scoop mounts on the device, so you never lose it. You can select cup sizes up to a large travel size travel mug. The reservoir is totally removable and that is a great convenience when it comes time to fill it.
I am the only coffee drinker in the morning, and I am accustomed to brewing a whole 10-cup carafe, only to drink a small portion. I don't have to throw away product every morning anymore with this machine. But, the recommended portion of drip coffee, I must say, is almost as much as I used in the other machine for a full carafe. I don't care. I have never been disappointed with this product. You can preheat to make the cup in three minutes. You can select a regular or richer brew. There is a selection knob for the various cup sizes.
One caveat. A cup or mug with a handle, or that is insulated, is almost a necessity. I ceramic mug without a handle is simply too hot to pick up after a brew cycle. And there is no warmer, because there's nothing to keep warm. You wind up with a steaming hot cup of coffee, ready to consume.
This machine also has a fancy agitator to make lattes and those fancy coffees I never drink. Great for those who would use that feature- I do not.
This product was furnished to me at no cost in exchange for my honest review. You could not buy it back from me for the retail price. It is that good, that practical, and that convenient.
A definite keeper and highly recommended.

I currently own a Keurig K-Cup coffee maker. Ninja Coffee Bar - Single Serve is a great alternative if you want to save some money and environment! Size wise, it's identical to my Keurig machine.
Pros:
- Built-in frother, I absolutely love it! It reminds me of the good ol' days when I bought latte from Starbucks. :)
- You can use any coffee you like at cheaper price than K-Cup
- More brewing setting than Keurig machines
Cons:
- Needs to clean the coffee filter. I guess after years of using Keurig, I'm used to the practice of use and toss.
- Design is not as clean and simple as Keurig. It's more of retro machine that looks like the one in coffee shop. I guess that's the angle they're trying to go for.
All and all, nice machine with more features than Keurig, but at a price of the needs to clean the coffee filter.

Great coffee, No Pods

I've been looking at several single-serve coffee makers, and I'm keeping the Ninja Coffee Bar.
It's very simple to use, and no pods to dispose of. Ground coffee is a lot cheaper than pods.
Cleaning the permanent filter (included) is very easy. The filter receptacle can be removed with the filter and is very simple to clean. It has a spring that stops leaks when removed from the machine. If cleaning a permanent filter is too much effort, it also takes #2 cone filters, which are fairly inexpensive.
It brews espresso in 4 oz and 8 oz, small and large cups, 12 oz and 16 oz traveller mugs. It also has different brew intensities (Normal and strong, plus the espresso buttons).
On the left side there is a frother that slides out of the back of the machine, and the water tank, which holds about 32 oz is on the right.
On top of the machine there is a steam vent that produces a lot of steam when brewing so I need to slide the brewer far from cabinets, so the underside doesn't get hit with hot steam. This seems to be the case with most coffee makers although pod machines don't seem to produce as much steam.
Over the base of the machine there's a pull-down cup holder so it takes either a cup or a mug.
Brewing:
It takes a bit over 5 minutes to warm up when turned on.
When brewing, it starts with a small amount of water, then it stops for a few seconds, and then it brews quicker. This seems to lock and extract as much flavor from the beans as possible.
For testing, tried brewing a small cup afterwards with the same coffee and it was extremely watery, so it shows how well it brews.
It takes sightly longer to warm up than a Keurig. Once the machine is warm, there is no delay.
The water container takes 32 oz, so it needs to be re-filled often. The container is removable and easy to rinse
The machine doesn't seem to turn itself off. I left it for about 2 hours with our realizing it was still on, so I don't think it has a timed shut-off. There is also no clock. This is likely the same as in other single-serve machines, so just be aware to turn it off.
The frother can be used even with the machine off and works very well, it's removable and it's rated as dishwasher safe, although it's simple enough to rinse, I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher. It doesn't warm up the milk, so there is no extra container to clean.
To make a cappuccino, Simply put the cup in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, froth it and then brew either 4 oz or 8 oz.
Other machines that steamed the milk that I used in the past were a pain to clean. Not this.
It comes with a double-sided measuring cup, that's labeled and simple to understand. Very simple to use and other than rinsing the permanent filter, mess free.
So although it takes a bit more effort than pods, coffee tastes very good (depending on the beans used of course), offers better combinations of drinks and it's a lot cheaper to use in the long term. Plus there is no plastic pod to dispose of.
The coffee maker also comes with a coffee 'recipe book' that is nice. I plan on trying some more unusual combinations.

Since I am the only one in my family who drinks coffee, I do not require a full pot. I purchased a Black & Decker Brew 'N Go a few years ago, but have had problems with the water overflowing in the filter from time to time. Ninja has really thought of a way to make this coffee machine almost error proof. There is a drip stop lever to prevent dripping after removing the mug/cup, and a warning beep if the lever is left in place during brewing. A very easy-to-follow recipe book is included, with 40 different coffeehouse-style beverages. I was able to make salted caramel coffee with a warm froth layer that you would think a barista whipped up, and then follow that up with a 20 ounce vanilla iced coffee. I was hoping this kit would include a mug or a cup, but my version did not (CF110 series).
I received my Ninja Coffee Bar with a small crack in the water reservoir. It appears that the small holes which hold the flip-top water reservoir lid in place weakened the plastic.
Pros:
Cup platform to prevent splashing of coffee from drip
Built-in frother
Reusable filter (can use paper filters too)
Unit pauses to prevent overflow in the filter
Cons:
Holes in water reservoir to secure flip-top water reservoir lid creates a weak point (arrived cracked)
Takes up a lot of kitchen counter space [9(W)"x9(D)"x14.5(H)"]
Pricey for a mostly plastic coffee maker
Conclusion:
With all the available features on this coffee maker and its flexibility in producing many different varieties of coffee, I would recommend this to only individuals who like experimenting with different drinks everyday. If you can live with the average cup of "joe" or have many cups to make in the morning with very little time, then the Ninja Coffee bar is not for you.

I dropped the reservoir of my OG Keurig, and could not find new replacements for under $50. Decided maybe it was time to retire the old girl. I was eyeballing the new Keurigs when I stumbled onto this guy on sale. It was more than I really wanted to pay for a coffee maker, but since it had so many options, and since I kept my last coffee maker for 10 years, I figured I'd make an investment.
I never used K-cups, always just ground my own coffee and put it in a filter for the Keurig, so the loss of K-cup functionality meant nothing to me. I actually prefer dumping the grounds into the generously-sized Ninja filter than trying to funnel it into a Keurig filter.
Before I get too long-winded, I guess I'll just Pro and Con this compared to my old Keurig.
Pros:
Extremely flexible -- so many options for the price and counter space.
Makes a fine cup of coffee in several sizes/strengths.
Easy to keep clean (externally) and does not take up much counter space
The frother actually works really well, I was pleasantly surprised. You do have to heat up the milk in the microwave for a few seconds, but that's not so bad.
Cons:
Reservoir is smaller than my old Keurig, so I have to fill it more often. It also does not stop you from making a cup if the reservoir does not have enough water -- it's an annoying oversight that will bite you at least a few times.
Takes longer to heat and brew coffee.
The internal cleaning process is confusing and takes a long time.
Two months later, I am definitely happy with my purchase.

Love this Coffee Machine!

The Ninja coffee machine is awesome! I bought it as a replacement for my well loved Cuisinart k-cup single-serve coffee maker which died on me after having 4 years.
PROS:
I've been using the Ninja for about a week now and I absolutely love it. It's easy to use and most importantly, the coffee tastes SO much better than any k-cup machine. I really like that it has different brewing options. My favorites are the 'Rich Brew' and 'Cafe Forte' settings. I also really love the built-in frothing tool. The only downside to the frothing tool is that it does not heat-up your milk. It only whips it. So I'll first heat-up my milk in a mug, use the frothing tool, and then brew coffee . The stop drip feature is also really nice as it allows you to pause the brewing cycle so that you can switch mugs if needed. Another nice thing I like is that it does not use k-cups...which saves on money and the environment. Although, since the coffee is so good, I am drinking more cups a day.
CONS:
It does take a little bit more time to prep/brew a cup of coffee compared to my old k-cup machine...but I don't mind since the quality of the coffee makes it worth the extra effort hands-down. So not really a con for me. I wish the frothing tool would heat-up the milk. It would also be nice if the machine had in indicator (light or sound) when the water reservoir is running low. I only noticed it after waiting a while for my coffee to brew and nothing would happen. The machine looks nice overall (nice chrome finish), but it also seems to be made of cheap plastic material. Would have been nice if materials were better quality considering the price of the machine - but this seems to be an issue with everything nowadays.
Overall, it's a great purchase! I love it and would recommend it.

Wow, this thing rocks.
I spent a lot of time searching for the perfect dual purpose coffee machine and I've finally found it. Classic, rich, cold, and speciality brews all in one. Not to mention the fully functional frother (although I wish it had some sort of drip tray).
The main coffee drinks can compete with any pod-style competitor but the specialty drinks are where they set themselves apart...Even though you aren't getting a true espresso, I promise you this "specialty brew" is the next best thing. It takes a concentrated 4oz pull from your favorite coffee making it shockingly similar to your classic espresso drinks. Plus you get an awesome recipe book for those of you looking to tap into your inner barista.
No doubt one my favorite purchases of 2016.

Well designed, quick and easy to use, my only problem was that the instructions tell you to use too much coffee for my taste. Once I went back to my old measure, it was great. The coffee is nice and hot and you can make a big mug or travel cup, unlike many other single-serve makers.
