Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Coffee Bar 1-Cup Coffee Maker's coffee quality, ease of use, and the included frother. Many appreciate its simple design and the reusable filter, which eliminates the need for disposable filters. However, some customers find the size of the machine and the cleaning process to be less than ideal. The water reservoir size is also a point of contention for some users.

Was super excited to try this-I was SO over Keurig and I got a great deal on this. The first few cups of coffee were amazing. Despite using only purified water in the unit, the "clean" light came on after about a week. I followed the instructions for descaling; back to normal, but happened again a few days later. At this point I was a few days past my "14 day return policy" at Best Buy. "Too bad" they say, you should have paid extra for our "geek squad" (which of course I DO on all of my major appliance purchases). The Best Buy person told me to call Samsung (huh??) I found a number for Ninja/Shark in the owner's manual. My experience with Ninja customer services has been a nightmare. The clean light has stayed on; the coffee doesn't taste right and now some of the buttons don't work. Ninja is charging me shipping for new unit and they are out of stock for 4-6 weeks. Pros: this thing makes a great cup of coffee when it works; Cons: when it stops working you are totally out of luck. I will NEVER buy another Ninja product again and I am extremely disappointed in Best Buy's response as well- I am a cardholder who has spent thousands on appliances and electronics but they just don't care.

Got tired of relying on pods. Purchased to replace a keurig. The coffee is great and the additional frothing is a nice addition to have.

    Who Needs K-Cup?

This is a great coffee maker. I replaced a Cuisinart 12 cup grinder and maker with this and have not regretted it. First, let me say, I'm not a fan of the K-Cup system because I don't like the idea of being forced to overpay for single servings. That said, this machine provides the convenience of single serve coffee without being constrained to K-Cup. It does require a few minutes for the system to start warming the water when the water reservoir is refilled, or the system is first turned on, but after that, a cup of coffee is only a few minutes away. I was surprised at how quickly the coffee was made. And the machine provides options that let you custom brew to your liking, whether it's a stronger cup (as I like it), iced coffee, lattes, etc. It even comes with a built in frother. This thing will definitely pay for itself soon with all of the money I'll be saving not having to run to Starbucks for Americanos.

I like the convenience of single drinks and options of specialty. I wish it would brew a little hotter but overall this is an excellent choice when giving up kcups

The Ninja Coffee Bar System is a cool coffee maker. The beauty of the system is that it makes a single cup of coffee vs. a whole pot. Now every cup is hot and fresh. Or maybe not! That's because it can also be ice cold as well. The system is very easy to operate. Thankfully they have ditched the expensive single serve pods in favor of the less expensive actual ground coffee. You can choose whether to use paper filters or the built-in permanent filter. The system is a miser when it comes to energy use also. It runs at 1,350 watts for about 2 minutes, the time that it takes to make a cup of coffee. You can then turn the unit off and it uses less than a watt if you keep it plugged in. When you are ready to make a cup of coffee you can turn it on and go or preheat it for maximum hotness. The preheating takes less than 3 minutes and most of the process uses under 10 watts of power. It's basically heating the coils, not the water. The water never enters the system until you are ready to use it. Let's talk about the equipment. It makes a single cup of coffee but the cups can vary in size. From your standard small cup to a giant tumbler. There are 4 sizes the system understands. It will fill the cup with a set amount of liquid based on the setting you choose. In general you can go from a cup size of 12oz to 20oz. It can be short or tall. They built in a nice little pull down shelf to put your cup on when you choose the shorter cup. You can fit a tall cup in the maker too, up to 8". As I indicated earlier, you can use a #2 Cone paper filter or their permanent filter to put your grounds into. They have attached a nice coffee scoop on the side of the machine so you never have to wonder how to measure. The machine only has 5 buttons (plus the on/off) so it's not complex. Whatever you do though, make sure your cup holds AT LEAST 12oz of water because that is the minimum amount that it will expel. And last but not least they have a frothing tool that acts like a small blender to whip milk. Making a cup of coffee is simple. Choose your cup size, put in the grounds, put the cup under the dispenser and push one of 5 buttons. Regular, Rich, Over-Ice, Specialty, or Café Forte. Modes: Regular is regular which means selecting the 12oz cup size will give you almost 12oz of coffee. Rich gives you a little more kick. It will dispense a couple of ounces less liquid but with all the caffeine. Over-Ice gives you about 1/2 the amount of coffee in your cup but the rest is filled with ice so you actually come back to exactly the same amount of liquid. And the cool thing about the Over-Ice is, you fill the cup totally full with ice and let the coffee drip over it. It's amazing but it works! Specialty gives you super concentrated coffee. It will pour only 4 oz of coffee into a cup. Café Forte gives you twice as much coffee as Specialty, 8oz., and is supposed to unlock the true flavor of the coffee. All I can say is that I had one cup in the morning and it met my daily requirements of caffeine! I had to go for a bike ride to calm myself down. It was intense. Everything about the system is pretty slick with one exception. The selection dial. It shows a picture of the cup size and even says what kind of cup it is but it doesn't show the ounces. The system comes with a sticker attached to the dial that you pull off before using. The sticker shows the same thing AND it shows the ounces of each cup. My wife cut out the ounces part of the sticker and put it under the picture of each one so you don't have to guess the size (see image). It's a small thing and it was important to her. The only other thing I found confusing is the cup size. They say that the minimum cup size is 12oz but that the small cup setting will make 9.5oz of liquid. I've found that it makes 11.5oz of liquid which is the setting for the next cup size up. It don't know if my system is miscalibrated or my grounds don't soak up more water. It does mean though that you don't dare put a cup under the dispenser less than 12oz! Otherwise you'll have a cleanup on aisle counter!

While the coffee is good, the frother seemed to lose its effectiveness shortly after purchase! Still not bad, just not as good as he first several cups!

When I first purchased the Ninja Coffee Bar I used the brew basket and enjoyed not having to use paper filters any longer. I also loved the fact that it was tall enough to brew directly into my 20 oz coffee mug, but that's where the good times end. After about 3 months of use my ninja started leaking. Not every day but several times a month. At first I thought it was me and that I had overflowed during brewing and the water was captured underneath and then later flowed out. But then I began to notice that whatever water remained in the reservoir was gone and the water was all over. Then one day it just died and I wasn't too happy. I think I owned the first one less than a year. So what did i do, I went a bought the next model, an upgrade from what I had before, thinking well maybe the first one was just a lemon. Well the Ninja Coffee Bar product is a lemon, My second one has just died, it wont brew, and its been less than a year since I purchased it. I don't believe I filled out the warranty card, but perhaps if I prove I bought two of them maybe they will replace it. Who knows...but do I really want another Ninja???

It brews fantastic cups of coffee. My only downsides are the small size of the tank and the length of the brewing process (including warming up).
