Two tries but both defective
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered one for Christmas but it was defective. Best Buy makes returns by mail difficult at best. Ordered a second one but arrived with same defect. Neither model would heat to required temperature. Ninja helped me trouble shoot but it had to be returned like the first one. Both orders showed up with damaged boxes that had been opened at some point. Returned second one directly to store without issue.

Buy it and Enjoy the Easy Cooking!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ninja continues to release small appliances, with big features, making it easy to make free up space on your counter, while still having the versatility of multiple cooking methods. What sets this one apart from other similar small appliances, is the 14 different cooking methods you can use to make a large variety of meals. In the box you’ll find the Foodi, with a pot, a steam/crisp basket, a reversible rack, a recipe book, and owner’s manual. The unit features a “SmartLid” slider, which allows you to activate the various cooking functions with the turn of the knob. The Pressure Cook function is the only option when slid to the left most point, and seals the lid to ensure the pressure builds up. There is also a steam release knob on the lid, which releases the pressure when you’re ready to open the lid. What amazed me about this Foodi, was just how quickly it pre-heated, and how fast it cooked items to near perfection. The included recipe book provides you with some hearty meal options, and also serves as a guide for making various meals using recipes you likely use every day. The book provides you with basic measures for water and even provides you with instructions to determine how long you should allow the food to sit under pressure before you open the lid. After two sessions with the unit, I found myself exploring more and more meal options; including but not limited to Rice, Pinto Beans (some of the best I’ve ever made), Chicken, Burger Patties, and even steamed vegetables. You’ll also notice there are basically two cooking elements, one on top, and the other on the bottom, helping to evenly distribute heat to the pot. Making chicken, using the racks, produced better results than a grill, giving it a nice crisp and juicy finish. Air Frying was also faster at pre-heating, and made fries, tater tots, and even a baked potato with ease! Over the course of a week and half, I solely utilized Foodi to make Steaks using the Sous Vide function, eliminating the need to use a separate appliance for every part of the meal. The included Pot was the easiest pot I’ve ever cleaned. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was sticking to it. A simple hand wash was enough to release any leftover crumbs of food within a couple of minutes. The Crisp basket was also coated with a non-stick surface and just as easily cleaned. It’s all even dishwasher safe! Overall, I’m impressed with the various functions, as this eliminated the need for 4 other small appliances; thus, saving up counter space for more prep. If you’re in the market for an all-in-one cooker, or even just looking to replace a pressure cooker, this is a very worthy contender and deserves a buy. It delivers on the premium look and feel, the digital display is easy to read, has audible tones to alert you, and the countdown timer not only counts down, but also keeps the timer going up for those recipes that require you to wait before you open the lid. It’s easy to clean, and made me love cooking at home even more. I haven’t ordered take out since I unboxed this Ninja Foodi, and I couldn’t post enough pictures to show all the great meals I’ve made so far!

Must Have in any Kitchen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a beast, but it also takes on the role of multiple devices on your kitchen counter. Want to slow cook a roast, check. Feel like air frying some amazing wings and fries, check. How about making the best tasting mac and cheese, check again. This does can handle tackling just about every dish you could think of making. \ Setup \ Setting this up is a breeze. It’s packed well, you set it on your counter, and connect the power cable and once you have made sure to clear out the accessories from the inside, and stickers/tape from around it and you are good to cook up your next meal/snack. The front dial is intuitive and the included cookbook, along with the QR code that takes you to an online cookbook do a great job of inspiring some new dishes. \\ Cooking \\ So, we used this to make a few different dishes. The first thing that we made with it had us using it like a crockpot. We slow cooked some barbacoa from some delicious breakfast tacos. We had it slow cooking overnight and made some delicious breakfast tacos in the morning from it. The huge 8qt pot allows me to just toss in the entire slab of beef cut into 2 large pieces. We added some salt and just left it to cook in its own juices overnight. In the morning the beef was falling apart and could easily be separated with a fork. It was delicious. The second thing we tried making with this was some wings and fries. We have our own recipe for wings. We sprinkle them with a little bit of black pepper and a dash of salt. We placed the air rack in the pot and set our wings in there. After about 20 minutes, flipping once halfway, the wings came out nice and crispy. We then tossed them in some butter, followed by our garlic parmesan rub, and some got tossed in some Frank’s hot sauce. We were also able to cook our fries in the Pressure cooker. We just soaked some potato wedges in salt water, after their salt bath we tossed them with some olive oil and sea salt, then placed them in the pot to air fry. About 15 minutes later they were a nice crispy, golden brown. \\\ Wrap-Up \\\ This is like a once stop shop for pretty much anything you need to cook. You get the pressure cooker, steamer, air fryer, crockpot all in one very capable package. Everything is easy to setup and intuitive to use. We noticed that there is a way to bake desserts in it as well which is next on our lists of things to make with it. Clean up is super simple the accessories easily pop out to wash. The only thing to keep in mind is that it is a large pressure cooker, but the counter space you sacrifice is worth it for the number of things you can make in it. An easy recommendation to cooks, or those looking for a great kitchen tool to help them experiment with new dishes.

Heavy On Features, But HEAVY!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ninja's SmartLid here is what makes this a unique multi-cooker in a vast sea of competitors. Ninja (and the omnipresent Instant Pot) had released devices with similar features in the past that required using different tops for different features - basically they used one top for pressure cooking and a separate top for (basically) air-frying. This new device is an all-in-one multi-cooker with a "SmartLid" that takes care of all the complicated functions. The base of the unit functions as a heating device with fairly strict temperature controls - so you can do many of the things you might do on a stove like saute or sear or steam - and you can cook food low and slow like a traditional slow-cooker - but the precision of the temperature control allows you to do odd tasks like making yogurt or cooking sous vide or proofing bread or dehydrating food. But even though I'm using the huge XL version, there isn't a huge amount of room for yogurt jars or bread or dehydrated food (and if you're interested in sous vide, you're going to want a dedicated device) - these are fascinating applications that are available, but probably won't be your ultimate selling point. It is a fine slow cooker, though. The exciting options here are the pressure cooking, the air frying and what they call steam frying (the ability to combine steam with circulated hot air from above that can crisp things). As a pressure cooker, this is outstanding (as expected). Comes to pressure quickly, operates almost silently, and the pressure can be released quickly. The air fryer option option also works very well - with excellent convection and an insert with handles that allow you to easily shake the food to redistribute it for even cooking. The steam-and-crisp function is the one that will take getting used to (for me). This primary goal, as I see it, is to allow you to prepare one-pot meals by layering three distinct food groups in three levels - one to be cooked in liquid (typically a grain), one to be cooked in steam (typically a vegetable), and one up top to be steamed and air-broiled (crisped) from above (typically a meat). Navigation of all functions is clear and intuitive from a brightly lit and well designed front panel. And Ninja includes a well written short recipe guide to get you started (with an exhaustive cross-reference for cooking types and times for every imaginable food type). I will never use every function on this multi-cooker, but what I have seen so far leaves me with no doubts that it can follow through on all of its promises. But I would caution potential buyers to consider two important potential drawbacks. (1) It is not just heavy, it is VERY heavy - way heavier than simpler devices like slow cookers or less-complicated multi-cookers. & (2) The multi-use top is permanently attached to the base and cannot be removed for cleaning* (there is a gasket that can be removed for cleaning and the guidebook recommends doing a literal steam-cleaning after some preparations). *The heating element and convection fan in the lid (see photo) need a source of power so the lid is permanently attached to the base - so there is no way to safely spray-down the lid interior or remove it for any careful cleaning. You just need to be careful not to pile-in food so high that it might touch or heavily spatter the heating element. Devices that are heavy on features like this one can be incredible labor-saving devices that produce outstanding meals but if you aren't going to use the complex features, then you really should consider simpler (and cheaper) options.

An appliance that’s well worth the counter space!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Ninja Foodi all-in-one pressure cooker and air fryer combo fan since their first release in 2018. I’m super excited that Ninja took all the feedback from the community and improved this 2nd version to be the best one yet. Pros: • 14 functions in 1 unit • Fantastic recipes book included • No more separate lid for pressure cooking Cons: • It’s a large counter hog As a super fan of the original Foodi, this latest update makes my love for this pressure cooker even more. My original gripe from the first gen was the separate lid for pressure cooking. This new version now incorporates both the pressure cook lid into the airfry lid. The display is super sleek and modern. Love the dial in the front and a huge improvement on decluttering the front display compared to the original. Besides looking awesome, the new Foodi with SmartLid comes with everything you need to get started. The 8qt is perfect size for a family of 4 and the extra size allows for their “3 tier” cook recipes. What makes this version stand out is the ability to “Steam and Airfry” aka Steam and Crisp at the same time. One of the featured recipes is the Herbed Chicken with steamed broccoli and Penne pasta (see photo of the outcome). What’s innovative is the ability to cook all 3 items in the same pot and in very short time. I spent more time prepping than actual cooking. In this 3-tier recipe, dry uncooked pasta is on the bottom, broccoli in the 2nd layer rack and chicken breasts on the top layer rack. All cooked to perfection. The chicken came out with great color and was juicy. The key was steaming the chicken while also air frying to keep it moist. No other system can do this! Once again, I’m super impressed and do recommend this to all of my friends and family. Bravo Ninja for making updates to the already wildly popular pressure cooker.

A lot of promise but very confusing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes for the Ninja Foodi 14-in-1 Pressure Cooker with SmartLid. Overall, it does what it is supposed to do. My issue was figuring it all out. First, the unit is a LOT bigger than you might expect and is very heavy so likely a ‘permanent’ countertop device. Secondly - while very robust and full of a variety of recipes, it’s very unclear how to separate recipes if you are only cooking one thing at a time. Example: there is a meatloaf and potatoes recipe which, in theory, would have worked very well. But, I was not able to locate any recipe (even on the web) for just one or the other…enter ruined meatloaf. The dial set up is also a bit confusing and difficult to get a hang of, though I expect that to get better with time. The great part - the 14-in-1 truly is amazing as far as variety of what you can do. From pressure cooking, to steaming, to crisping, to air frying - it literally does it all! It’s just a little tricky to figure out how to use each of the features, especially sans recipe. I am hoping the majority of the confusion will abate over time as I get used to this device. It has a TON of potential. I would recommend this to friends and family with the caveat that you won’t be able to use it right out of the box without some learning, internet searching, and trial & error.

Obsessed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this! My instant pot recently gave out after 2 years. I debated on this or simply replacing my previous instant pot. So glad I went with this because I am OBSESSED!! I’ve used several of the features and have not been let down yet! I love that it’s an 8qt, and I love that it has so many features and I don’t have to worry about 100+ items (lids etc). I do have to admit, it’s a pretty big machine and kind of heavy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Everyone should own one
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second ninja foodi air fryer / pressure cooker. We only got this one because our old one was 6.5 quarts and this one is way easier to clean the lid. The old one was still working so we gave it away. It’s also super convenient to only have one lid where as our old one had a separate pressure lid. We hardly use our oven now unless we are going to cook something big like a turkey for thanksgiving or a large pizza. If you are on the fence just do it, makes cooking so much easier. Steaks taste amazing, salmon is great, steaming veggies is great. Can cook frozen chicken wings way faster than having to defrost and cook in the oven. Can pressure cook a spaghetti squash and the insides just fall out. I had no complaints with the old one except cleaning the air fryer lid. So far this one has been easier to clean. Also I just throw the pot and it’s accessories into the dishwasher no problem. The pot does take up a lot of room so it’s probably better to hand wash but that seems like a lot of work. The metal insert can be tough to hand clean sometimes with how meat sticks so that’s a definite dishwasher item for me.

Great performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well built and sturdy, this pressure cooker/fryer is large and easy to use, as long as you have a place for it. It's heavy if you need to store it after each use. Both the pressure cooker and the fryer perform very well. It gets used almost daily due to its speed and convenience.

Love my Ninja
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my Ninja! The pressure cooker is amazing.. so isair fry anx slow ooker for those big family get togethers. Have not used all the features yet. Love that most parts are dishwasher safe for easy clean. Bought newer version as gifts, ehen on a heck of a sale. The main differences is the seperate lid on mine makes it easier to attach seal, but the extra lid takes up a little more storage space.

This Thing is a Ninja of a Pressure Cooker!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a pressure cooker and an air fryer, so when I saw this Ninja 14-in-1 Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer combination unit I just knew I needed to give it a try. Not only does this Ninja - Foodi 14-in-1 8qt. XL Pressure Cooker & Steam Fryer combine 2 appliances into one, it also has a SmartLid. The SmartLid sounds like a gimmick, but it’s actually really useful and makes this appliance even that much more convenient to use. As a pressure cooker it works like you’d expect it to. Set your pressure level and timer, slide the lid into the proper position and start cooking. There’s really not much to it and the SmartLid makes it super easy to transition from pressure cooking to crisping and air frying. There are subtle differences between crisping and air frying that the recipe book explains, but you’ll really only find out with some practice and experimentation. I’m really enjoying how easy everything is to clean and how I can now use just one appliance and more importantly, just one lid, to both pressure cook and air fry my meals. This is a game changer and I’ve already given my old combination pressure cooker/air fryer with 2 lids to a family member. This is one of the most convenient designs in a combination pressure cooker that I’ve used. The SmartLId is truly smart as based on its position, sets the proper cooking function and opens up menus on the easy to read LCD screen. This makes using it easy enough for most people to figure out even without an instruction manual. If you’re looking for a pressure cooker and air fryer combination appliance, you really don’t have to look any further than this Ninja Foodi 14-in-1 Pressure Cooker & Air Fryer with SmartLid.
