The Ninja Woodfire is a Gamechanger but you definitely need a thermometer to keep from oversmoking! Purchased a BT thermometer and it changed the game. Extremely convenient electric grill for burgers and chicken so far. The smoker is great as long as you don’t follow the Ninja Recipe book, otherwise you will be chewing for days, despite the great flavor.

Awesome little grill with great variety of features. Biggest issue is keeping under the hood clean. As some others have stated, it is nearly impossible to clean the fan on the hood as it is covered by a protective grill that does not come off. Other than that issue, everything else has been great. The guide it comes with helps as well with knowing cook time with this grill until you get used to it.

Electric BBQ Magic with a Punch of Smoke

Man, I was hyped to try out the Ninja Woodfire Grill & Smoker the second it landed on my doorstep. But of course, Florida-style torrential rain decided to crash my BBQ dreams for nearly a full week straight. Since this is an electric grill, I didn’t want to risk zapping myself just to smoke some wings, so I waited it out like a responsible adult. When the clouds finally broke and I got the chance to unbox it, the first impression was classic Ninja quality, clean design, sturdy build, and yes, it’s got a bit of heft for a grill its size. Not in a bad way though. That weight screams durability and makes you feel like you’ve invested in something that’ll handle the outdoors for seasons to come. Setup was a breeze. Minimal assembly required, just a few minutes from box to preheat. One thing I did notice though, the power cord is on the short side, so I had to pull out a quality outdoor rated extension cord to get it in my preferred cooking spot. And it doesn’t come with the folding stand, which would’ve been nice. I had to MacGyver it with my old workhorse bench, but the dedicated stand is now on my must buy list. In the box, you do get a sample of Ninja’s smoke pellets, and they’re good quality, no complaints. But I went ahead and grabbed some Kona brand pellets from Amazon, more affordable and work just as well for those of us trying to ball on a budget. Also, you don’t have to use pellets if you’re just grilling, those are purely optional to give you that wood-smoked flavor. Once I had everything dialed in… this thing is a beast. Seriously. It’s incredibly easy to use and honestly feels fail-proof. If you’re a total beginner when it comes to smoking meats or grilling with anything besides gas or charcoal, this is a fantastic entry point. There are four cooking modes, but so far I’ve only played with grill (open & closed lid) and smoke. Both were ridiculously easy to use. No non-stick spray or oil needed, the non-stick surface does its job well and cleanup is a snap. It heats evenly, cooks fast, and gives off consistent results. I grilled some burgers and they came out juicy, evenly seared, and cooked all the way through. But let’s be real, the smoker mode is the star of the show. I tested the waters with some seasoned wings and a half rack of ribs. Followed the Ninja brochure just to make sure I was doing it right the first time, easy preheat, pellet ignition, and off we go. Pro tip: I did have to refill the pellet hopper once to keep the smoke rolling, but it was super simple, toss in more pellets, hold the smoke button to reignite, and you’re back in business. The smoke flavor came out beautifully, and the meat was cooked to perfection. Even the wife gave me the head nod of approval (and she’s picky). Only thing I will say, while the grill holds a decent amount of food, if you’re doing full slabs or hosting a crew, you might need to get creative with placement. It’s compact, and I do wish it was a bit bigger. That said… I’m already eyeballing the XL version for future cookouts. Cleanup was effortless, just pull out the grill insert and wash it in the sink. I haven’t cleaned the inside yet because honestly, there wasn’t much mess left behind and hey, maybe that seasoned grill vibe adds some flavor next time. Ninja knocked it out of the park again. This is officially replacing my old gas/charcoal combo grill, and I couldn’t be happier. This Ninja Woodfire makes grilling and smoking fun, simple, and tasty. It’s easy, versatile, and delivers consistent results. If you’re thinking about upgrading your outdoor cooking game, this is the move.

Smoky Flavors on Electric Grill, Needs a Stand

I've been using the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill for more than a few weeks now. I've grilled burgers and steaks, as well as some chicken. Every time I am impressed. Setup is easy. The Ninja Woodfire has a small footprint but there are a few call outs. The power cord is shorter than I would expect, so on my deck I had to use an extra heavy duty extension cord to get right position the Ninja. I am surprised there's no stand included - a big miss. Stands are sold separately which is not immediately obvious from the box, so I set it up on our outdoor table. The first cook on this bad boy. The Ninja has electronic controls, so as I write this, makes me happy I am using this on a covered deck. Anyway, on the grill setting, cooked the steaks and then finished off with the smoker setting to just finish them and test the smokiness. I've only used the included starter pellets to date, all purpose mild, which, as the name says, is mild - so nice hints of smokiness, which I still can't believe can be achieved with an electric grill. After a few weekends of use, here's my final thoughts: - it needs a stand, Ninja sell them separately, don't be surprised by the low profile - the fat/grease trap is a bit awkwardly positioned to clean - an extension cord is helpful as it's just too short Overal, the Ninja Woodfire is super compact, amazing electric outdoor grill that gives you smokiness to you grilling - which I didn't think was possible. If you don't have the space or for safety reasons, can't do a charcoal grill, this is a great option just invest in a stand!

    Another fantastic Ninja appliance

At this point, I’m a Ninja fan for life. We’ve had lots of different Ninja appliances over the years and they rarely disappoint. If you are looking for a grill for a 3-4 person family that won't take up all the space on your patio then this may be perfect for you. We are a family of four and so far this has had the space to grill or smoke enough for all of us. I like that it's not as big as a normal propane grill or a smoker as our patio space is limited. Setup was easy right out of the box. I do wish it came with a stand but we purchased a grill cart and use that as the base. Instructions are clear and the included grill temp/times for various foods was nice. My husband normally grills however this was easy enough I felt a little more confident with it compared to grills we've owned previously. We had fun trying out kabobs, corn, burgers, hotdogs, brats and some steak. The smoker option has been nice, we haven't had the chance to try fully smoking something but have used it to add flavor to meat. It takes very little pellets to get flavor so that's been awesome. Its easy enough to take apart and clean after it cools down. The cord is a little short but we use a heavy thick extension cord when we want to grill so it was fine. It's an easy to use grill that has handled everything I've thrown at it so far. Definitely recommend.

Mighty little grill and a side of smoke

This Ninja outdoor grill and smoker is a wonderful grill option for those who love portability, and don't want to have to carry around a propane tank to fuel a normal grill. Out of the box, the unit takes some unpacking. It has a lot of tape and protective cardboard pieces. The griddle plate is packaged separate and is easy to just wash right away. There is also a drip pan that is separate, and a scoop for the pellets. It also comes with one bag of wood pellets, and a cooking guide. Setup- The setup of the grill is very simple. It is a little bulky but really sturdy. The griddle plate is easy to take out and put in. It does not need to be seasoned, but it does recommend running the unit on high for 20 minutes before cooking anything in order to burn off any residue that may be on the griddle surface. It comes with a very short power cord, and does have a built in GFCI on the end. You will be needing to use an extension cord, as the power cord is too short to really plug into a wall even if right next to it. You will have to set this on a large cart or table in order for it to balance sturdy, as the back legs jutt out from behind the grill a few inches, where as the front legs pretty much come straight down. Cooking- Since this is an electric grill, it can be a bit difficult to know what setting to put the grill on in order to cook. Luckily, the included guide gives a chart for most types of grilled food, and gives you the temp, what time range, and even when to flip if needed. It does separate fresh food grill times versus frozen food grill times and comes in extremely handy. I cooked up burgers first and then went with hot dogs. I decided to use the smoker feature when cooking the burger patties and the experience was overall pretty good. The griddle take quite a bit of time to "preheat", and it is even longer when also using the smoker feature and trying to preheat that. Adding the wood pellets was simple, as it does come with that pre measured pellet scoop to use. Overall it took about 20 minutes for the grill to preheat with the smoker, and let me tell you, It smokes. There is a fan in the top of the lid and it is very noisy. It almost reminds me of a small jet turbine spinning up. Once you picked your settings and let the preheat cycle go through, it will beep and display "Add Food" to the front. I was just happened to be cooking frozen patties that night, and says in the guide a 9-12 minute cook on Med, turning once half way through. I put the patties on the griddle and they started sizzling good, I seasoned them, and shut the lid. The timer started counting down from 12 minutes. I was able to just walk away and start preparing other food. At 6 minutes I opened the lid and the burgers were cooking excellent. I flipped them and re seasoned and closed the lid. The grill finished cooking and automatically shut off as it got to zero. The griddle is still obviously hot enough to keep cooking so you still need to get the food off right away. The burgers cooked through perfect and were very delicious. The size of this griddle will fit 6 burger patties at one time. It is a bit smaller but worked out good. Was able to cover the burgers and put on the next set. The burgers tasted great with the wood smoked into the meat. The bad thing with this is, even it is only a minute after the grill shut off, you have to wait the full 15-20 minutes again for the smoker to preheat and griddle to preheat. So if you are cooking a lot of food, it is going to take a bit. I would recommend setting a longer initial time, and leave the grill on between new servings of meat.. The pellets only seem to last for a couple grill cycles. Overall, this grill did a fantastic job cooking. It is a bit noisy, and the preheat can be detrimental to a cookout if you don't set the times right. It is big and bulky, but on a plus side, Ninja does sell a cover and a portable table for this as well. The cooking guide was extremely helpful, and I did have an overall positive experience using this grill . I would recommend this grill for when propane or charcoal is too much to travel with.

A game-changing product for apartment dwellers.

As an apartment dweller, I was immediately drawn to the appeal of this outdoor grill and smoker. Traditional open-flame grilling has been prohibited in every apartment I’ve stayed at and finding something that’s also space-friendly — well, good luck. Enter Ninja! Overall, I'm very impressed with its performance and have a few suggestions for future enhancements. ***** What It Does Well: ***** * Compact Design: The size was perfect for my small apartment patio, making outdoor cooking accessible without taking up too much space. * Authentic Smoker Flavor: This unit truly excels as a smoker. The flavor it imparts is incredibly convincing, and I've enjoyed experimenting with various third-party pellet brands to further enhance the taste. * Ample Cooking Space: Despite its compact footprint, there's surprisingly ample room to cook multiple items simultaneously, like hamburger patties and bacon on the cooking surface. * Easy Maintenance: Cleanup is straightforward. Most accessories and parts are easily hand-washed with warm, soapy water. It's important to note that abrasive cleaners or oven cleaner should be avoided to prevent corrosion. **** Areas for Improvement: **** * Grilling Performance: While it produces a pleasant smoky flavor, I wouldn't market this primarily as a grill. In my experience, it doesn't quite achieve the same charbroiled greatness as a traditional open-flame grill, particularly when cooking burgers. However, for smoking BBQ, this can truly throw down! * Value Proposition with Accessories: The overall value proposition could be improved if essential accessories like a stand and side table were included. When these are purchased separately, the total cost becomes less appealing compared to many grills that offer these components as standard. Given that this product targets those with space constraints, it would be beneficial to have it designed for outdoor storage with a cover, rather than requiring indoor storage in an already crowded kitchen (my countertops and cabinets are currently full - ironically with mostly Ninja products). * Integrated Food Probe: As an owner of other Ninja products, I'd greatly appreciate the inclusion of a food probe attachment for accurate temperature gauging, ideally wireless, but a wired option would still be a welcome addition. Alternatively, cross-compatibility with existing Ninja indoor oven thermometers would be an equally great option. * More Pellet Flavors: I would love to see a Apple Pecan blend or something leaning more Hickory or Mesquite. I was curious about if you could use cedar planks on this as well but I have yet to try it. Recommended Accessories: * Ninja Woodfire Collapsible Outdoor Grill Stand * Ninja Woodfire Attachable Side Table * Ninja Woodfire Premium Grill Cover * Ninja ProChef Wireless Thermometer Indoor & Outdoor

I picked up the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill & Smoker because I wanted something compact that could handle smoking and grilling without the hassle of a full-size grill. I used it to cook chicken thighs seasoned with just seasoned salt and black pepper. The smoke flavor was surprisingly good and the meat stayed perfectly moist. No fancy rub needed. It reminds me a lot of a George Foreman grill but with a convection fan and smoker built in. Not something for hardcore grill snobs but perfect for apartment dwellers with a small outdoor space or anyone who doesn’t need to cook for a big crowd. My biggest learning curve was the “add food” pause. I’m used to the Ninja pizza oven, where you have to press start. Here, I hit start and it shut the unit off instead. Turns out it has a sensor that knows when you open and close the lid. Not a flaw really, just different from other Ninja products I’ve used. The grill plate was super easy to clean thanks to the non-stick coating. I didn’t need much oil and food didn’t stick at all. It does take a while to cool off, so plan for that if you need to clean up right away. I’d recommend this to singles or couples who want an easy outdoor grilling option with smoke flavor but don’t want to mess with a big grill. It does a great job for its size and is simple to use once you get the hang of the controls.

    Convenient and portable-Short smoke session

OVERALL The Ninja Woodfire is an awesome, yet intriguing, alternative to the standard gas or charcoal grill. It's something of a combination between a grill and air fryer in one. Add the optional griddle and you've got yet another appliance/tool at your disposal. It's a very approachable versatile cooking appliance. Using the smoker, while relatively short sessions, add enough depth of flavor to your grilling. Key takeaways + Quick heat up times. + Multiple cook modes. + Compact and convenient. + Non dishwasher safe. + Short smoke session. + Versatile cooking. SETUP Any solid flat surface will get you going. I went with an outdoor hard plastic table similar to those found in outdoor eating areas of restaurants, round tables in cafeteria areas around school campuses, or seating areas in malls. The Woodfire itself, generates very little heat under it, none of the legs or any portion that makes contact with the surface. A 12-14 gauge outdoor rated extension cord is a must for long grilling sessions. Set the drip tray under the grill and select your mode. If adding pellets, use the provided scoop for measurement and fill the bin. Select your cook mode and set your food on the grill. HANDS-ON This particular model, the non-XL grill, makes enough per grill session for 3-4 adults. Add your foods, pick a mode (grill, smoker, bake, or broil). Then choose a temperature, either low/med/high or a degree reading, varies by mode. After a few minutes, the display prompts to flip your food, which reminds me of the "shake" prompts of some air fryers. This changes the dynamic of traditional grilling, as I've known it, Thicker cuts of meat may require a temperature probe, which the higher end models include. With the right amount of time, meats come out crispy, tender and juicy. If you used pellets, you'll get a more unique flavor profile that is fairly similar to slow cooked grilling on more traditional grill methods. Pellets last about 35 minutes, if smoking longer periods of time adding new pellets is needed. Just dump the ashes, fill with new pellets and press the igniter for a few seconds. All without interrupting the prior grill session. When you're done, push off solids into the drip tray and lightly brush any lingering burnt bits from the grill surface. Once cool, run a kitchen sponge through is grooves and dump the drip trays foil liner. CONCLUSION The Ninja Woodfire Grill is an excellent choice for those looking for a compact and convenient electric grill option. While it has some drawbacks, such as short smoke sessions and lack of a wired temp probe (this specific model), its performance and features make it a worthwhile investment for those who want to grill or smoke food in a small space. This is worth 5-stars.

    Bit of a Learning Curve

The Ninja Woodfire Grill is a great addition to our options for cooking meals. This is not my first electric cooking grill. When we had our backyard built, we opted to install an electric grill over a gas grill. Though this Ninja grill may seem redundant, I wanted the electric grilling experience on the go, for when we take our RV trips. That being said, the Ninja grill had a bit of a learning curve for me. The main thing I’m still trying to learn are the cooking times for various meats. This little grill cooks fast. Because of that, I highly recommend using a meat thermometer. I suspect it may be because of the compact design, but I tried grilling some filets on the Ninja. I did not try using wood pellets this go-around, and I set the temperature to medium. We like our steaks to be between medium rare to medium… so I guess a “warm medium rare”. Flipping them once, the steaks were done in less than 8 minutes. They ended up being closer to a very warm medium - a little too done for us. The next time I tried grilling some salmon filets. I also wanted to give the woodfire pellets a try. I filled the pellet holder only 1/3 of the way because I was afraid to get the salmon too smoky. I set the dial to Grill, the temperature to high and the time to 20 minutes. I set the grill to preheat and selected the Woodfire Flavor Technology to add the smoky flavoring. Once preheated, I place the salmon on the grill, skin side up for about 5 minutes. Then I flipped the filets over, skin side down, and grilled them for another 9ish minutes. The salmon was perfect! These were pretty good size filets, so smaller filets may take less time to cook. Overall, I’m really liking this Ninja grill. Again, get a meat thermometer to use with it. I can’t wait to take this grill on our next RV trip!

A great new option for outdoor grilling

I’m a big fan of products by Shark Ninja. This is my third Ninja grill, but the first for outdoor use. Ninja makes excellent products that make cooking easier. I still love using my indoor grill, but I was interested in grilling with real woodfire flavor, and that’s where the Ninja Woodfire grill comes in. I’ve used a propane grill for many years, but recently went back to charcoal using a kamado style grill. You just can’t beat the taste of wood smoke infused into a burger or steak, but the time it takes to get the coals burning and ready sometimes causes me to skip the grill entirely. The Ninja Woodfire grill bridges the gap, providing the ease of an electric grill with genuine wood smoke flavor. Does it deliver? Read on… Executive summary: • Easy to use – simply choose cooking mode, whether to add smoke, set time and temp, and you’re good to go! • Real wood smoke from wood pellets • Even heat distribution and convection cooking • Easy clean up and easy to get great results In the box is the grill itself, including the nonstick grill grate, a removable smoke box for the wood pellets, a grease tray, instruction booklets, and a starter bag of all-purpose blend wood pellets. To get started, all you need to do is wash and dry the grill plate, install it back inside the grill and plug it in. Similar to other Ninja grills, there are multiple modes: grill, smoker, air crisp, bake, roast and broil, although the unit I got does not include the air crisp and broil modes. Using the grill couldn’t be easier—just turn it on, select the mode, then choose time and temperature, and press start. If you’re choosing to use the wood fire feature, press that button after selecting the mode. Preparing a charcoal fire can take up to 30 minutes to get to the right temperature, in addition to cleaning up the ashes and loading up the new charcoal. A propane grill takes a bit less time to preheat but lacks the ability to add wood smoke flavor. Preheating the Ninja grill to Hi only takes about 10 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes if you want wood smoke. In addition to it being faster, it’s just a lot easier to use, reducing the total time to be equivalent to using a propane grill, but without having to remember to fill the propane tank. The Ninja Woodfire grill features an ingenious smoker box for producing wood smoke. Just fill the box using the supplied scoop, then press the woodfire button to ignite the pellets. This initiates the ignition sequence, and in a few minutes, you’ll see beautiful white smoke billowing out of the grill. The grill includes a convection fan inside the lid, and this serves to circulate air during cooking, but also pulls air through the wood pellets to encourage their burning and pushes the smoke out the vent in the back of the lid. The grill plate and heating elements guarantee even heat, and the convection fan speeds things up. Of course, you can also cook with the hood open if you choose. Grilling is straightforward, and no different from how you’d do it on any other grill. Having an electric grill is just easier than propane and produces the same results. Using it as a smoker is just as easy, set it and go, and top up the smoker pellets as needed. In my opinion, the Ninja Woodfire grill is just as easy as a propane grill, but even easier. The removable grill plate makes it easy to clean, and the nonstick surface makes cleanup a breeze. Real wood smoke is the reason to consider this grill, but it’s also a very capable grill even without that. Is the flavor of food cooked on the Woodfire grill equal to a traditional charcoal grill? I’ll admit that I thought it was just slightly less flavorful than a full wood fire charcoal grill, but only slightly so. The convenience, speed and easy cleanup, however, make up for that and can provide great results when you don’t have the time or patience to start up the charcoal. For me, this is the fallback option for when it’s getting late, but I still want some wood smoke flavor in my food. Ninja says the grill can fit up to 6 burgers, 30 hot dogs or 2 racks of ribs, so keep that in mind when determining if this grill can cook enough to feed your family. I think it’s fine for feeding 4-6 people, but your mileage may vary. The Ninja Woodfire grill offers something not previously available: the convenience of propane with the flavor of wood smoke. For small, quick cooks, it can’t be beat. No, it won’t replace your other grills when you need to feed the whole neighborhood, but for a few people, it’ll let you get to actually eating the food quicker and let you spend less time setting up and getting ready. I’ve been considering getting one of these for a while, and I’m glad I finally did it.

Never going back to my bullet smoker

I use a chimney with coal, water and wood chips, and disposable trays in my bullet smoker to smoke meat. It’s an involved process. Monitoring temperature and airflow is an all day task, which can be fun, but sorta terrible when I’m trying to drink with buddies. And I don’t want to get into how many burn marks I have in my wood deck from embers and other hot stuff getting burnt/dropping when smoking. My kids figured I should try electric (set it and forget it). I trust Ninja and figured I’d give it a try. One thing to note: you’re not supposed to use wood chips. You have to use pellets, according to the manual. Not sure what will happen with wood chips but I’m a direction-follower.. I haven’t used it for grilling, as I have a nice grill already, but there’s a nonstick grill plate. Anyway, I threw in some pork and the included pellets. The pellet basket is super convenient - no more pulling dripping aluminum trays to add chips, no more monitoring coal. So. Easy. The fan circulates air and the unit monitors the coil temperature so I’m at perfect temp! Meat came out perfect, akin to my best ever smoking successes. Cannot believe I spent so much time smoking “the hard way” for so long. It’s like the first time I got used to remote controls, CDs, etc. This thing is awesome. Not sure how it’ll hold up outside (where I leave it next to my air fryer on a small table with a canvas cover) but my air fryer has been out here 3 years no problem.

The nice thing about this is that it is an electric alternative making it so it is more approachable to those who are not used to a normal gas/charcoal grill. With it being a 4-in-1 it also opens up more options. Along with having some other modern twists that make for a unique experience that ends in delicious food. Unfortunately, it only comes with the grill with some pellets for smoking. No stand, cover, or other features. But you can buy those separately. Use is pretty simple, you plug it in, power it on, and then select your mode, temp/time, and for the most part you’re off to the races. Making sure you have a high powered extension cord and plugging into the correct outlet is advised for safety which they discuss in the instructions. I’ve heard some users clean up just like a normal grill. With them just preheating beforehand and cleaning before the next meal. Otherwise, you can clean this like you normally would by taking the plate off (once cooled) and cleaning it that way. I also like that it is smaller and lighter making it so you don’t have to store it outside (though it is built to be able to withstand the outdoor weather). Which is great for those with apartment living. Overall, plenty of functionality. Works great. Tasty food. I like it. But you’ll need to buy accessories. But not a true smoker. So if serious about that will need to look elsewhere.

I absolutely love this, ninja make great products and our kitchen is full of them and they're the most used items we have. The wood fire outdoor grill now joins the list of amazing Ninja products. I've been using a griddle for the last year and never really enjoyed cooking on it, it was also a major hassle having to clean and resurface the plate due to it rusting very easily. With this, we no longer have this issue, that alone is a massive W for me. I've made ribs, cheese burgers, brats and chicken on this and it's so simple to use and the meat comes off extremely tasty We are a family of 3 and find this to be perfect for us but I would look for the larger version if you're a larger family. We did need to buy a cover for this and a stand which is usual but just in case you were thinking this may come with one or both of these things it doesn't. With an extremely easy to use UI it's great for the beginner to get going. The pellets are all about flavor and make everything taste great As always, ninja hit it out of the park again
