This is a nice compact, but heavy, grill that is electric. I like that we don’t need propane or charcoal & there is no flame jumping up at me when I open the grill to flip meat. You can use the pellet ashes in your garden afterward. Setup & use is very easy. I have a Ninja indoor grill & this works pretty much the same. There are four settings, grill, smoke, bake & roast, this model doesn’t have air fry. I made chicken breasts on the grill setting with wood fire, all settings can be used with wood fire or plain, not sure why you’d want to bake with a smoky taste but if that’s your preference then I guess it’s ok. A small bag of pellets came with it & a scoop to put them in. Preheat setting is recommended but you can bypass it by pressing start/stop button for 4 seconds. It tells you when to add the food & flip it. I used perfect portions chicken breasts on medium heat, they’re a bit thin so I felt they were a bit dry, I would suggest a thicker meat. They cooked pretty quickly & had a mild smoky flavor, there are robust pellets available for a bolder smoky flavor but this all purpose blend was enough for me. I also used frozen sweet potatoes & on the wood fire feature they weren’t quite finished when the chicken was so I switched it over to grill & then they cooked very fast, almost too fast & tasted much smokier than the meat. I will probably never use the smoke feature because I’m not a fan of really smoked meat, the wood fire is good enough. I also do not eat steak or pork so I can’t comment on how those taste or cook. You can roast a whole chicken on here & the grill holds pretty much food at one time. When you add the pellets it smokes pretty much at first & it gets very hot ! The pellets are one time use & are a bit expensive for a bag. I decided to bake cookies, the grill holds about a dozen cookies & I set it at 350 degrees for 10 minutes like my regular oven. Within 7 minutes they were starting to burn & came out dry & crumbly, I will try this again but on a much lower heat setting! The smoky smell was still there while baking but the cookies didn’t taste smoked. They slid right off & all the crumbs were caught in the drip tray. There is a recipe book with a few recipes & some pointers & tips on usage. The grill grate was very easy to clean. It’s definitely a learning process knowing what temperature to use & how long to leave it on, just like the indoor grill this cooks very hot & very fast so I find that most things are dry & overdone. I’m sure with time I’ll improve. The cord is so short that you need an outdoor extension cord unless you want it on the floor or right next to your house, we had it on a table & it only reached halfway. Accessories like a cover, stand & griddle plate are sold separately & are very pricey! For now we’ll just use it on a workmate. I like this but honestly I still think the food tastes better & more temperature controlled on my gas grill so the four stars are for that & the expensive accessories.
