I recently purchased this Nintendo 2ds and I would like to say it works great and runs great and even though it does not fold like other 2ds and 3ds models I don't have to worry about any hinges or the device cracking which is good and the 2ds is a very light handheld console and easy to use and play with and setup and overall the battery life is great and overall I recommend it!

The Nintendo 3DS XL is the top of the line Nintendo handheld, but as far as I'm concerned, the only difference between that and the 2DS is the 3D feature (the 2D, as you might guess from the name, doesn't play games in 3D), nor is it bisected for closing like the 3DS. I don't want to play games in 3D, and while I would like to be able to close the 3DS, I actually *don't* want to take it with me (on the bus/train, etc.), so that's not a deal breaker. It's a great console that plays great games, and it comes at a great price point.

If you're like me, you have nothing but fond memories of rage-quitting while failing to navigate the flying-fish levels of the original Super Mario Bros. for the 20th time on your original NES. But how to ensure that your young kids can experience such character-building growth without destroying a $400 Switch and without risking a controller being thrown at the 60+ inch familyroom television? Here's the answer! The 2DS has access to all DS and 3DS games without the eye strain, and is affordably priced (comparably to other gaming systems) so that kids getting gooey fingers on it or occasionally dropping it (on a carpet) won't have you clutching your pearls in horror. PLUS, they can stress out just as you once did while trying to navigate those classic (and new) games! Is there a better way to bond than laughing/raging at a failed attempt to blast from barrel to barrel with Donkey Kong? If there is, I haven't found it!

I bought this for my 7 year old nephew last Christmas - words cannot described how thrilled he was to get this. He also owns a Nintendo switch, but he still plays with this one to date and alternates with the other.
Personally, I think this is a fun game, I played a little bit while setting it up for him. My most favorite part of this device is that it has parental controls, because there was a wide open access to the internet and internet strangers. For kids at such a young age, I don't think it's necessary to have all this.
There's a small nuance with the stylus - my nephew tends to chew on it, so it's at a point where it doesn't stay locked in the holder. Otherwise, this is a very durable device for young kids. Highly recommend this over the 3D or the switch for portability.
Otherwise, this was a really good investment both financial and sentimental. I'm glad there's an option to input a cartridge for different games so this will last for a good while. I enjoy watching him play and bask in nostalgia from my days of playing the original Ninetendo lol!

Picked up for my young Son - the size is really perfect for a kid. The screens are plenty big for Mario and other titles. It's 80 bucks and has a game included, a great deal for a first time gamer. The flat screen reminds me of the gameboy....

Getting this as a replacement for one that wore out after 5 years of heavy use. No complaints, price is good. Great handheld game system with plenty of games. NSMB 2 is a great game in the series as well.

Very affordable game. I bit clunky to hold, but is great if you don't want to spend the additional bucks for the 3DS. Does pretty much all of the same things aside from the 3D display feature.

My kids are just getting into gaming. I was able to buy the 2DS as an intro gaming system. The price was right and they can take it with them when we travel.

I might like this thing more than my kid! HUGE step up from my Original Gameboy but easy enough for even an old person to get the hang of. My son usually forgets this exhausts since he got his switch, but it was a savior on a long road trip so the kids could share/swap consoles.

I have a 3ds xl and love the 3D, but, I do not like the shape and size, nor having to flip open the system. I like the design of the 2d hardware better, and though it doesn’t have 3D capabilities, I like the look and feel of it in my hands much better. However, the 3ds is way cooler with 3D graphics. Tradeoffs....

Bought this as a gift for my wife (who only plays Mario titles) but between her and my son it barely gets turned off. It’s easy enough to use my four year old plays it still challenging enough that my wife enjoys it. I’m thinking about purchasing a second one so they can both play at the same time!

My nieces love playing on this device. For all the years we have to spend at least $100 to play portable video games, Nintendo has come up with a way to offer the joy of gaming to even those who are on a tight budget.

My son is autistic. But was jealous of all of his cousins getting game systems. So we surprised him with a 2DS. The controls are easy for him to learn, given his lack of dexterity, and fine motor skills. He absolutely loves having his own gaming console. What better way to start the future of a gamer than with Nintendo!

Love this model with the super Mario 2. Lots of games. Great for long car trips. And you can plug in headphones for a quite ride. Battery last for a long time. And built in camera game jeeps the kids entertained for hours.
