What a great way to get back into Nintendo!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After months and weeks of debating, I bougt the 3DSXL on a whim and I haven't been disappointed. I am a child of the early 80s and I grew up on Mario, Zelda and the like and this totally satisfied my yearning for a unique and fun gaming experience. The 3D features are fantastic and the game controls are easy to use. I would totally recommend this to anyone!

Perfect product for gamers of all ages
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an avid gamer who owns all systems until I received this one as a present. I completely regret looking over this system and thinking that the target audience was only meant for the younger crowd. When I first opened up this system, I was amazed at the quality of the product. The matte finish looked beautiful and the color was gorgeous. The screen is a little more pixelated than I would have hoped for, but after a few hours of play, I don't notice it anymore. The 3D effect is a very brilliant effect and looks amazing. I usually play with it on full and am still amazed to this day. Some games it is a lot better to look at than others. The positioning is a little tough because you need to make sure you sit still to get in the perfect angle for the 3D effect. After a few days of play, I was completely used to keeping it at the perfect angle. As a side not to anyone who purchases this product: The top screen is meant to move a little bit when touched so that it doesn't break as easily when dropped. I thought this was a design flaw until I researched it and found it was meant to do that. The battery lasts a pretty average amount of time and needs about 3.5 hours to charge to full. The battery dies a lot quicker when the 3D effect is on than when it is not. The games for this system are perfectly priced at $39.99 and lower and even some coming out at $34.99. I have already purchased 8 games for the 3DS and they all are amazing. At a time in video game history where short games are common, and there is more of an emphasis on DLC and profits, the 3DS and Nintendo really outshine the competition. The games are all on average very long and full. I feel a sense of fulfillment once competing these games and not that anything is missing. Nintendo really thinks about their customers and the 3DS XL is an amazing product. I regret not purchasing this item sooner.

Hours of entertainment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though it can look a little pixilated at times, everything else makes up for it, last all day on a charge (to/from work 1hr each way +) looks great with 3D and screen size, never gets hot, street pass is more fun than expected.

Great Handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's fun! That about sums it up. The 3DS is amazingly sturdy although the game cartridge sometimes pops out when kept in a tight spot. Charges quickly and holds plenty of battery life, and access to a great variety of games.

Nintendo is still the king of handheld gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned every iteration of the "game boy" since the first one, and this is the best one yet. Long battery life, beautiful screens, and comfortable to hold. Cons: The 3D (while impressive) tends to give me headaches and you MUST keep the 3ds still or else you won't get the full effect. However, I was extremely happy that they included a 3d slider that allows you to turn it off if you prefer. The only other problem I have is that there's no slot for your game boy advance games. I understand that from a design standpoint, this would make the handheld heavier and probably bulkier, but I still wish I could play my old GBA games on the larger screen. I opted to hold onto my DS Lite for this purpose though, so it's really not a big problem for me. This is a must buy, for all handheld gaming lovers!!

The Best DS Yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had every generation of DS system since they came out, and the 3DS is by far the best of the bunch with improved graphics and controls. I bought the XL version because I wanted a DS that would fit my bigger hands and had a larger screen for me to see the games more easily. Not only was this a mart choice, but I'd say it's worth paying the extra bit of money to get the XL over the regular 3DS. And the best thing about the 3DS is that it can play all of your old DS games as well which is a big plus in an age of current (and near-future) consoles cutting out the backwards compatibility features that the best systems once had.

No going back.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Blue, Red, and Pink were the choices. Now the Pink is all but gone. The difference in size in your hands is not noticeable and I do believe it is lighter. You don't realize the improvements until you pick up your old DS and then it becomes immediately apparent that this is a well thought out redesign by people that have hands on experience with the gaming. Like adjusting the seat of your car, this 3DS XL just fits like it should and going back is like getting in your car after some one has moved the seat. I received the Animal Crossing edition of the 3DS XL for Fathers Day and could not in good conscience allow the rest of my family to continue to play on the older DS. Both the wife and daughter got upgraded with in a week. It was a financially reckless decision made out of love.

great device to keep the kids happy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We try to limit the amount of video games our kids play, but there are times when you need to have something to keep your 11, 12 and 13 year old kids from arguing with each other about what TV shows they want to watch. The 3DS was perfect -- it's small enough to be completely portable, and very satisfying to our kids.

Huge improvement on the original 3DS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the 3DS XL first came out, I scoffed, thinking that it was an unnecessary attempt to rake in more money...then I began to realize that I was suffering hand cramps and eyestrain from just holding onto my regular 3DS for more than ten minutes at once. (I'm a pretty average-sized person but the 3DS was my first handheld console, so I was more accustomed to having the size of a laptop keyboard to work with.) After holding off for a few months I finally decided to sell the 3DS and invest in an XL, and it was absolutely worth it. The XL improves on many of the problems with the 3DS: it's larger, more rounded, and comfortable to hold (the original was a little boxy), the stylus has returned to the right side where it can be easily reached or stored at any time (3DS had it awkwardly stashed in the back), and the 3D slider now has a definite switch from off to on (the 3DS' 3D slider was a bit loose and could be nudged from on to off by accident -- with the XL you can still adjust the intensity of the 3D but there is a little catch that you have to push past before you can turn it off completely). It also feels a lot more solid when opened and closed than the 3DS did; overall it seems to be a much better-made piece of equipment than its predecessor, the real console that the 3DS was building up to. Of course, all of the software and internal functionality is the same (with the exception that the free application Swapnote is now included; you have to download that manually for the 3DS) and the graphics are pretty much equal in quality, though I have yet to test it on any of my non-3D games. There's not much to say about its appearance except from a practical standpoint. I personally think it's nicer-looking than the 3DS -- it's not as shiny, so smudges aren't as apparent and it doesn't give off glare under artificial light. I did think it was a bit weird that it isn't available in black, but I'm one of those people who buys *all* electronics in black...it's really a non-issue. I'm disappointed there are currently no carrying cases made for it specifically, but if you have a loose carrying bag or one of the larger Pro bags (or just want to stash it in a pocket of your backpack or purse), this really is a non-issue as well. If you're not easily irked by things like weird stylus placement, and you're more accustomed (as many people are) to a smaller system anyway, you may be just as happy with the original 3DS. But if you're willing to spend an extra $50-$60 on an overall better system, I'd highly recommend going for the 3DS XL instead. It's everything good about the 3DS plus a significantly improved design -- and your hands and eyes may thank you later.

GREAT PRODUCT.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like the selection of games for the system and the fact that you do not need 3D glasses to enjoy the 3D aspect of the game system. Also the increased size is great as compared to the standard 3DS. Great battery life.

nintendo 3ds
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product. I bought it for my son who is in the Military and is stationed overseas and when he is not out on manouvers it gives him something to do to make things a little better. He used to have one of the older ones when he was younger and has always enjoyed it. He says works great and enjoys playing it.

Perfect Size for My Grandtwins
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We essentially up sold ourselves on this item. There were 3 different versions of the Nintendo 3 DS available, ranging from about. $99 to $179. My son had a unit that we had inadvertently ruined by inserting a cartridge backwards. The cost to repair the unit was equal to the price of a new base 3DS. This new unit, costing about $80 more, was also brighter and larger screened than the one we were looking to replace. It has a good screen, very bright, very nice audio quality from a unit this size, and the battery life is adequate, given the two screens. The 3D function is a nice feature unique to this device. As long as we don't put the cartridge in backwards we anticipate many weekends of playtime for our Grandtwins.
