Customers have good things to say about the exploration, planets, open world, and universe size in No Man’s Sky, frequently citing the vastness and enjoyment of exploring the game's many planets and universe. However, many find the gameplay repetitive and lacking in content, with some also criticizing the game's story and value for the price. The sheer scale of the game's universe is a major draw for many players, but this is often offset by concerns about repetitive gameplay mechanics.

I read some reviews before purchasing and was eager to play. First few days were fun but it became repetitive afterwards. No mission to follow and inventory gets full too quick. The planets are pretty similar. If you dont mind doing the same thing all the time(mining, scraping items, upgrading etc) then you will enjoy the game.

This game completely whiffed vs my expectations to be honest. It's just a lot of exploration and simulation... Maybe 14 yr old me would be willing to pour in the hours and hours of just random drifting to make this game enjoyable, but to me it got pretty boring/repetitive after a few hours. Maybe it'll be better with updates...

No Man's Sky is an incredible game with it's visuals, sounds, and experience you'll have playing No Man's Sky. However, it does fall flat on many aspects that Hello Games promised it will have such as multiplayer (if you challenge to try), large animals, and the story is a let down as well. You can look up the ending if you want to spoil it for yourselves. It's a good game, just not amazing as it should be.

Personally have only played upwards of 8 hours on my day off at launch. I was in love with the art style and the ability to explore spaces no one else would get to see or at least a lot woudnt. My disappointment came with the crafting and inventory right off the bat and is the main reason I do not play it at all and won't until it gets better. The lack of space, lack of an ability to sort and stack a lot of items, and the way crafting works is down right just not fun. I'm hoping it is improved in the future. The other things keeping me from playing is the lack of base building and couch coop. Currently no plans for coop is very disappointing as I play couch coop in most of the games I play heavily, like minecraft and 7 days to die most recently. There is a promise for base building in the future so of so I will play again. Until then a 3. 4 once base building happens. 5 if couch coop is offered. It's already a decent game with a great art style. They just need to improve the base game and add some new features yi be great. Definitely one of the better looking procedural generated games though, especially on the large scale.

Not that bad of gameplay if you are into a lot of the same thing. There is no real missions or anything to speak of and no real purpose over than getting to the center of the universe. So if your bored and have nothing better to do except mine minerals and sell them for units over and over and over this is the game for you.

A lot was promised with this game, which allowed for there to be much to be desired about this game. Overall, it is not worth the $60 that it is wearing. It will hold your attention for a while but when you begin to realize that much of the universe is a copy-paste bonanza, you realize it can be quite lonely out in space.

I've had the game for over a year now and will try and play it every once and a while. Even with the update this game is just a poor excuse for all the hype they put into it. I still don't know why I own this thing and didn't turn it in for store credit a while ago. I do not recommend this game at all.

The first couple of hours of this game are flat out amazing. Spawning on an alien world, exploring the land to fix your ship and upgrade your kit, then blasting off to explore the moon circling the planet you are on. It is amazing. Problem is the game never matches the power of this moment again.
Your journey quickly becomes incredibly repetitive. Land, mine the same few minerals, manage your inventory, repeat. Their complex algorithm isn't capable of making the planets actually look unique. You get about 6 different variations.
Rent it for that first couple of hours, or buy it cheap knowing you will want to soon trade it back in. I find Gaming Club Unlocks 20% off really helpful for this.

After a year or two of patches, this might be a great game, but as it stands it is not worth the asking price. That being said, I did enjoy playing this game for what it was. This is a game you play while watching Netflix or listening to a podcast.

Game had so much potential and was quite fun at first, but becomes repetitive quickly and looses it charms. Still has a lot of potential, we will have to see how Hello Games handles it. I am recommending it, but only based off the information Hello Games has given for updates, if they dont follow through, dont buy.

I have been following this game for a few years before it's release. I was so hyped when they announced this game at E3 a few years back. But over the last year or so, my hype for the game had died down. That is probably why I rate the game a 4, because unlike many people who have played the game, I did not go into the game overhyped with unrealistic expectations. Is this the best game ever? Certainly not. It is, however, a very good exploration/adventure game. It is fun the fly around the galaxy, exploring the tiniest fraction of what this game has to offer. With quintillions of planets to explore and countless creatures to find, this game will keep any busy for a long time. If you are going into this game hoping for a "survival" game, you may want to look elsewhere, as this aspect of the game is pretty minimal, really only affecting the first couple of hours of gameplay when you need to repair your damaged ship. The rest of the game is pretty much dedicated to finding resources that you need to craft fuel for your ship, allowing you to do interstellar travel. Is this a game for a hardcore gamer? Probably not. It is a game that I find to be relaxing, something to play while you unwind. If this sounds like something that you would like, I would recommend that you give it a try. If you are looking for a difficult game where you are struggling to survive, or hoping for lots of combat, I would look somewhere else.

I bought this game after the huge update came out and after looking at reviews from before to compare I can honestly say that it is much more interesting and lots to do, That and I also got it for less than $20 made this an pretty awesome deal. Having friends to play with is pretty cool but playing single plater, I haven't run out of stuff to do yet.

I suppose this game is divisive. I'm 30 hours in and I'm enjoying it a lot. Some people find the gameplay to be "too repetitive and boring". For the most part this game is built on a simple gameplay loop. You explore space and planets, you collect resources and technologies, and you use them to improve your equipment and ship in order to further explore space. Occasionally you encounter hostile aliens and have to battle, but for the most part it is fueling a passion for exploration. If exploring space and planets doesn't interest you, then you may not like it. It is the most unique gaming experience that I've had in my 25 years of playing games (since the NES). I am so glad that this small game development studio made this game and I truly believe that they have innovated a new style of game development that is both intriguing and provocative.

No Man's Sky had a lot of potential but unfortunately it came up short. The game started off great and did a good job of pulling me in to the world, but after 10 hours of gameplay it gets really repetitive and there is not much else to see. If you want to play this game I suggest waiting for a price drop.

I am disappointed that this game took so long to develop and didn't have that many features. The ending sucked and made me feel like I wasted my time. Apparently, there's some new features (base building) with the new update, but I don't know if I'll go back after being so disappointed the first time.

It's alright. Certainly not a AAA game and not worth $60! However, with gamers club and on sale, it's a little over $30 and you know what? It's worth $30.
As long as you enter into this game knowing that it's not what was marketed and pay around $30, I think many people will be accepting of it.

Not for people who require instant gratification. Slow paced, sometimes a grind, but the sheer scope of the game is breathtaking. I think there will be surprises and excitement as people make their way toward the core, but so far, a good deal of repitiion, but still satisfying in it's weird way.

The first 4 hours of the game are great - very immersive and the sense of exploration is wonderful. But like so many others have noted, after you learn the gameplay loop, the game becomes a chore. Wait until more updates are released

This game seemed wonderful on paper, but you soon realize that it is repetitive and, to be honest, a bit boring. Yes, there are a gazillion worlds out there, but who wants to visit them? Some multiplayer might make it marginally more interesting; beyond that, I'd wait for it to drop below $20.
