Does what it says - I think

First, let's get the most important part out of the way: It's a good thermal bottle. It kept my beverages hot or cold for a good long while. No amount of additional tech should ignore this basic function. As for the tech itself? Part of me thought it would be a bit of a gimmick, but I actually came to like the temperature sensor - particularly since you can't really tell how hot or cold the beverage is from the outside. I personally didn't find the hydration reminder useful. But regarding the UV sterilization? I...guess...it works...? I don't really have the tools to measure its effectiveness, but the cap made it clear it was going about its duties when I turned the function on. So overall it's a good bottle and the charge lasts a good while. But be warned: Charging is done by plugging a micro-USB into a dongle that magnetically connects to the bottle. This dongle is rather small and easy to misplace. Don't lose that dongle!

Great water bottle, not so “smart”

NOERDEN really did a pretty good job with this water bottle. The design is sleek, keeps water cold for at least 6 hours in my experience, and the most important feature that does it for me is the UV capability. In the time of Covid/flu season, the uv feature is was what attracted me to this water bottle. I use it at the gym, for plasma donations when you need to stay hydrated I feel safer drinking in these places honestly. All tot do is tap twice to activate the uv option on the lid. Out of the box you will need to charge it. One of the cons for me is the charger is pretty loose and doesn’t really stay on unless the bottle is fully upright and in a specific position almost. The next con is the “smart” features. You can use this with an app but you have to manually enter your water intake based on your weight and height, and the app will subtract that from the total you’re supposed to drink a day. There is no Bluetooth capability so, monitoring your water intake you can do with any app essentially. I was hoping that the water bottle had a way to tell if liquid was being added or being drunk throughout the day, or does not. Another con is although every two hours the lid will blink indicating you need to drink, but without a sound option you can really miss it if not paying attention, but I did get notifications on my watch because I paired apple health to the NOERDEN app. Overall I do enjoy this water bottle, but I do feel it’s lacking important features. In the climate we’re currently in, the UV feature really shines through and makes it stand out from others on that alone.

    Well-designed

This is a very well-designed water bottle. The bottle keeps cool beverages cool and hot beverages hot for many hours. It's difficult to tell if the UV rays truly sanitize the liquid in the bottle or the empty bottle itself without lab testing so I'll go with the specs on the device to determine that. It took some time to get the right level of tapping pressure on the top of the bottle to control the on/off function versus the UV function. The instruction book is useless as it was written in such small font it is unreadable for anyone under 30. The video produced by the company was a better way to understand how to control the features of this device. My biggest negative comment is the black color. When the sun was shining on the bottle during a 67 degree day, the rim of the bottle was quite hot when I put it up to my lips despite having a cold beverage in the bottle. Black is probably not a good color for this technology. I suggest ordering a lighter color bottle if that is an option for you. I'm not sure the world needs a "smart" water bottle when there are so many "analog" water bottles on the market that don't need to be recharged. If nothing else, it is a unique product for anyone who likes to lead a "smart" lifestyle.

    Good hydration reminder

This smart water bottle is smart enough and small enough to keep me hydrated. The UV light on the inside is nice to have as a piece of mind feature, although it isn’t going to change the taste of the water nor filter it like a charcoal filter would. At 12 ounces, the water bottle doesn’t hold a ton of water but it is small enough to carry with you and fits in all of the cup holders in my cars. I have a huge hydro flask growler that I don’t use so much because I can’t conveniently take it with me wherever I go. The visual hydration reminders come in the form of the lid and the companion app. I often forget to hydrate, so this is an annoyingly helpful feature. I could easily set two hour timers on my desktop or phone but it also helps that the water bottle lid itself flashes at you to remind you to hydrate. This smart water bottle is sleek, keeps my cold water cold for the better part of a day, and fits in my backpack, car, and anywhere I want to go.

Clean water in a small package

Nice footprint and easy to use. Water tastes clean after a (long) cleaning cycle which is the primary goal / purpose for me for this bottle to clean hotel or airport water while traveling. Pros: Water tastes good after the (long) cleaning cycle Small footprint that makes it easy for travel Charges relatively fast Cons: Takes a really long time to clean your water (4 mins 58 sec). Often when I fill my water bottle I’d like to drink from it. 5 mins is a long time to wait for it to clean the water. Reminders to drink. Guess this might be a nice feature for some but I found it especially annoying at night as the super bright white blinking reminders light up the bedroom every 2 hours at night. After 2 nights of waking up to this I contacted support and they advised me to shut down the bottle at night. So an extra step to remember every night (short press followed by a hold until the light blinks to tell you that it’s off). I don’t like this extra step (followed by having to turn it back on in the morning?). Why can’t you just have an app setting to say “don’t try and remind me to drink at night between X hours while I’m sleeping” in the app, but the app really has no settings. The app - a place for you to manually enter when you drink water (a bit silly in my opinion why is there an app?) The charger has a small proprietary magnetic connector. If you lose it or leave it in a hotel room, you have to buy a new one. Not sure why they went this route vs. just a USB C or USB micro connector. Thankfully it doesn’t need to be charged often because I don’t need yet another proprietary connector to carry around and lose. Overall water tastes good in a smaller package than some of the other models out there, but lots of room for improvement that they hopefully solve in an update or with the app.

It’s OK, but it’s not for me

I can see people who would like this bottle, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me. Let me give the positives first. 1) The bottle keeps cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot for a long time. 2) Drink reminders on your phone and the bottle flashing after two hours is a nice touch. 3) Temperature notifications on the top of bottle is nice as well. 4) Insulation is great. You can’t feel the heat or coldness of the bottle. Here is why it doesn’t work for me: 1) I really wish the bottle was more than 16oz. Sipping coffee or tea and the 16oz can last a while, but a 16oz cold drink doesn’t last long enough to bother using the bottle for me. 2) The flashing lid only works if the bottle is directly in front of you the entire time. I move around a lot during the day, so this feature doesn’t benefit me. The bottle works and does what it says, but it doesn’t work for my lifestyle.

    Great design but limited smart

I think that I have clear mixed feelings about this product and knowing that is an awarded product, I feel that it could be missing some design elements to be fully satisfied. This is a smart bottle because: 1. Is a great Thermal Bottle. Amazing design with a real thermal capacity thanks to the vacuum insulation keeps water cold for a long time. I confirm that in winter season this is the case (specs indicate 24 hours, waiting for hot summer to confirm). I love that the 16 oz are great to keep on my desk. This indicates that hot liquids will also be hot for a long time. The bottom of the bottle has an anti-slip silicone pad surface ideal for slippery surfaces but also to avoid stains on your table. In general, a great grid and quality made bottle. 2. Is smart because of the bottle lid functionalities. One, is able to indicate by tapping once into the lid the temperature of your liquid (color coding blue for cold, yellow warm, red hot). Don’t need to open your bottle to know the temperature inside and this helps with the insolation. Two, by clicking two times on the lid, it will activate the UV-C light that should UV-sterilize your water. Three, is smart because if you open the lid before the sterilization process is over the lid will blink red. Four, the lid works with a rechargeable battery that can be recharged using the provided wire. I love the fact that the two connectors with the lid are magnetic and that allows you to attach the small charger. However, I think that I miss some features for an A+ smart. For instance: .- There is no connection between the bottle and the app at all. So most of the potential additional features are just app-based, reminders, profile .. The bottle features are limited. .- There is no way to know the power remaining in the battery. Only when the battery is at 5% a red light indicates it. I found that this color message could be easily confused with other of the red blinks. .- Some of the indications about the limits of water safety in the manual. The warning about “this is not a potabilization but a sterilization device” or "the water must be clear and suitable for consumption” makes me question the limits of the UV sterilization technology. Would be great to know in the app how safe is the water. Finally a thought. While I love the bottle for my daily life and to keep it on my desk for its “smart” and thermal features on those situations I don’t need the sterilization function at all. However, for my multi-day mountain camping excursions, where the access to safe water could be a plus, the metallic bottle is both too heavy and with 16oz too small.

PROS: - Keep water cold for up to 24 hours - UV sterilization - 2 hour reminder to drink more water - No app required - Bottle is dishwasher safe (cap is no though) CONS: - Magnet for charger isn’t very strong == SETUP == Unlike so many other smart fitness accessories, you don’t need an app to install on your phone to setup/use with the device. While Noerden DOES have a fitness app, you don’t need it for this smart bottle. All you need to do is charge the cap for the first time and you’re good to go. There’s a QR code to scan to access the quick-access user guide, which just lets you know how to use the UV feature, what the cap colors mean, and how to turn the cap on/off (long press to turn on/off). == DAILY USE == The bottle doesn’t have Bluetooth, so you don’t need to pair it with an app. How it reminds you drink without notifications? The cap will blink blue if two hours have passed since you last closed the cap (but only if you power on the cap first). In the morning I will just turn on the bottle to use throughout the day, and turn it off before bed. The battery life is advertised as up to a month (with using the UV feature once a day), so I haven’t had the bottle long enough to see how accurate the battery life claim is. My only complaint about the bottle is the charger. It’s a magnetic charger that connects at the top of the bottle cap, but the magnet isn’t very strong, so if you bump the bottle while it’s charging, it’s very likely that the charging will stop until you re-adjust the charger. == BOTTOM LINE == I really love how long water stays cold in this bottle, but what I love the most is that the bottle will help remind me to drink more often. It’s easy to get distracted throughout a work day and forget to stay on a hydration goal, so it’s nice to have a simple reminder. It’s weird to say that I need to “charge my water bottle”, but I’ll get used to it.

The water bottle looks great, but functionally leaves much to be desired. While not holding a lot of water (which of course is advertised in advance), it took several minutes to run through the water sterilization process. It's simply not useful to me if it's going to take that long.

Liz is the coolest way of drinking anything. I'm using it for over 6 months and it is simply the perfect travel companion. It also saved me from boring birthday gift selection trouble. Does your best friend's birthday is approaching? no problem at all, order Liz. Do you need to make your mom happy? don't be ridiculous, order Liz.
