Jack of all trades?

As a Bluetooth device for my android phone I use the left ear bud alone and it has a range of about 15 feet unless my hand covers the phone when I pick it up, then the bud disconnects. Disconnecting is a problem when walking when a swinging arm comes between the phone and ear bud. Phone call sound is too loud in the bud when the app sound is set for general use. The bud can loose all ability to connect if it disconnects too frequently or for too long. Then you must put the bud back in the case to reinitiate it for further use. Battery life is about what is advertised but this is with little phone activity during my typical wearing time.
As stereo headphones the IQ buds are OK but I have $20 wired buds that sound better. Keep in mind my ears are old so I may not be getting everything the buds are delivering. None of the 8 types of nubs provide a fit tight enough to block out environmental sound or keep the buds in my ears when I bend over if I'm the least bit sweaty.
As hearing devices I'm not finding the app settings are doing much for selecting frequencies. I need high frequency voice enhancement which I find requires me to raise the volume to a level that amplifies my own voice to an annoying level as well as some high frequency environment sounds. And the fit is not blocking out unwanted environmental noise. I may need more time working with the settings but after three weeks I'm loosing hope.
Overall I feel the Nuheara IQbuds may be suffering from the 'jack of all trades, master of none' syndrome. OK but not worth $300.

I first sampled the IQbuds at CES 2017. The voice processing sound was on the tinny side with a just-noticeable processing delay, and that disappointed me, but on the music side, they outperformed every other wireless and many wired earbuds/earphones I have ever used, and that really surprised me. After nearly a year on the market and several software updates later, I decided to invest in a pair. I came away disappointed and returned the IQbuds. Music sound quality is still very good. Outgoing audio via phone (based on voice messages I left to myself to test) is also very good. But there are many options now for Bluetooth earphones with microphones. The IQbuds are supposed to set themselves apart with managing sounds from the world and speech around you - blocking what you don't want to hear and boosting speech when you want it. For me, that didn't work well. Hearing speech along side music only works if the music volume is on the soft side. And boosting speech in my experience was hit and miss. Sometimes I would pick it up and sometimes not. Likewise, sometimes along with or instead of speech I would get too much other "world" noise even when setting the app to favor speech. On the plus side, the digitally processed voices coming in to my ears sounded more natural than when I tried IQbuds at CES, and no noticeable processing delay anymore. Of course, getting that good audio sound from the earbuds requires, according to the directions, using the largest ear tips that fit your ear comfortably. In my experience, those directives were mutually exclusive. Comfortable tips failed to provide a proper seal (easily identified by lack of bass in the music) while larger, nicely sealing, bass enabling ear tips were just not comfortable to wear for more than 10-20 minutes at a time. While experimenting, I had one IQbuds suddenly fall out of my ear. That raised my awareness of the fragility of this set up - if you aren't absolutely sure these things will stay firmly lodged in your ears, you are taking a big risk using them in any situation or activity where one could be lost or broken if it fell out. Finally, I really tried to get over how these look when I would check the mirror, but there's no denying that you will stick out - maybe not in a good way - while wearing these around. It may not be quite like the stigma that helped kill Google Glass but it looks weird. I have no doubt that augmented listening devices like IQbuds are going to be a thing in the very near future. For me, this product just isn't there yet. Having said that, I mentioned Nuheara has put out a number of software updates in the past year to improve performance of the IQbuds. Their online support site currently mentions another upcoming patch that will improve directional pickup of voices to better filter them out from background noise and chatter. Because of this and other kinds of potential software improvements, I expect I'll give IQbuds another listen a few months down the road.

First let me start off by saying that thank goodness that Best Buy let’s you return your product almost as often as needed until you’re happy. Now with that being said. I got these earbuds after I had returned other ones like 6 or 7 times. And I almost fell in love with them. The sound is amazing and the features are impeccable. The only reason why I returned them was because they kept disconnecting. And for three hundred dollars any products at this price point should be perfect. But when they come out with the second generation I will get them again

Worth a try if you have an auditory processing disorder - helped me in noisy situations when understanding speech is difficult due to competing sounds.

I did not post my review for several weeks after purchasing this product, and that's probably a good thing. Quite simply, these earbuds are unlikely any earbuds I've ever worn, and they take some adjusting to.
Getting the buds charged and pairing them with my Samsung Galaxy was pretty easy, as the Nuheara site has a pretty robust support section: http://www.nuheara.com/nuheara-iqbuds-support/
What's taken more time is personalizing the different hearing settings with the app, and really discovering all the different applications I can use these earbuds for.
One example from this past weekend... Wife was out with our toddler son and our baby was sleeping. I wanted to get some work done in the yard, but had to be sure I could here the baby. I turned on the audio/video feed to the baby monitor on my phone, stuck the earbuds in, and I was able to work for about an hour in the yard without having to constantly check on the baby or stare at my phone. I was able to speak with my neighbor, get some weeding done, and have a slightly muted but audible feed of the baby's room so I could hear when he awoke crying.
The IQbuds have also been quite impressive in restaurant settings and while driving. Again, each person needs to make some manual adjustments (I found the default settings to have too much treble on the amplified noise frequencies), but after a few weeks I got the hang of everything.
Really an innovative, cool product that appears to improve with each subsequent app update.

I used to use the Here One buds but had tons of problems. I figured I'd try these out instead - and it turns out they are great and exactly what I was looking for! Great sound - great bluetooth connection - great noise cancelling. I love these.

These earplugs were not the easiest to learn to use but after 20 minutes I figured everything out. The sound effects were unique but not super useful. The home mode is the only one that really works by enhancing voice while listening to music but the music volume needs to be relatively low. There is always a constant ringing from this device which gets really annoying, I tried to drown the noise with music but foind myself with 100% volume and the ringing only got louder. I turned the music off completely and it was still there. The sound quality is really good but connection is really poor, the music would constantly cut out and pause and sometimes it would fast forward to catch up to the missing tune. Like most headphones they feel not bad when first putting them on but hurt after 30 min. For 300 I would expect the product to at least work when it’s supposed to. I just want my money back and regret trusting all the 5 star reviews in the front of the page.

The rave reviews were like those for a new movie and like a new movie that everyone is raving about it's hard for the product to live up to the hype. They work well, I like them, but they weren't life-changing.

Overall I liked the way these earbuds looked and felt in my ear. I took a flight two days after purchasing these and the volume level was not very good. One recommendation if you purchase these, don't take one out during turbulence, I did and when trying to put back in the case it dropped from my hand under my seat. Upon landing there was no sign of it anywhere. That's a lot of money down the drain. I will not purchase another pair but may look at the new Bose units.

I purchased those Earbuds at June-2017 from eBay i liked their sound signature and sound isolation, after 2 months of usage the inner side earbud rubber began to be lousy and not fitting in its original place!
I contacted both seller (eBags) and manufacturer (Nuheara) and they both refused to cover my earbuds.

The concept is cool. The buds do a cool job of boosting certain sounds and blocking others. The problem is they are not comfortable. For a pair of buds meant to be worn all the time, these just don’t cut it yet. Maybe in the future the tech can be made into smaller buds and it would be great.

The IQ hear buds are 1st generation in personal sound amplifier ear buds. It works not significantly well and requires trial and error tuning to individual hearing preference via their mobile app. I personally feel it does not work well enough to warrant a $300 price tag. I tried it for an entire day and was rather dissatisfied with the performance. The game changer was when I finally looked at them in the mirror and realized that if I were Frankenstein the hear buds looked like bolts coming out of my ears. I would wait for 2nd or 3rd generation products to be developed.

I tried to like them. But unfortunately, these earbuds didn't work for me. They didn't fit in my left ear. They were uncomfortable and painful for my left ear. Sorry to say I had to return them (Thanks Best Buy).
Hopefully, their next version will be slimmer and better. I found the perfect solution for my hearing problem. I bought the Otofonix a rock-solid personal sound amplifier device.

The only "bad" thing is what everyone is already saying about the BT. Can't be far away and phone has to be on the left side of body. If the phone gets to far from ear piece, forget it.

These earbuds did what they were supposed to do. I was able to turn off the world, and just hear my music, or go in the opposite direction, and hear everything. That wasn't the issue that I had with the product. My issue was with the bluetooth connection. When I was outside and walking around with my phone in my pocket, the ear buds would cut out because it kept loosing connection. Switching pockets and putting my phone in my back pack didn't help. Disconnecting and reconnecting the buds didn't help either. The only way that I could get a stable connection was to hold my phone in my hand. Not ideal for me, so I returned it.
