Heats up the vessel very quickly. I was amazed at how fast this heats up compared to the electric cooking range. Very efficient. The temperature controls are nice. Auto power off prevents mishaps. Highly recommended.

I ordered two of these from the competition to NuWave as it relates to portable induction cooktops. Those two induction cooktops from the competition to NuWave proved to have a catastrophic defect of some sort. They produced a acrid, lung burning, electrical smell when operated. The odor was so bad both times we tried to use them our 995 Sq. Foot apartment had to be ventilated. After that horrific experience, and trust me it was! I was very reluctant to purchase any more portable induction cooktops. Problem was I had purchased all new induction cookware for the kitchen from NuWaves competition. As horrible as my first run with these appliances was, I operated the first ones long enough to like the precision these things cook with. After a month of recovery from my first experience, I finally decided to give NuWave the second chance. LOOK NO FURTHER, NuWave portable induction cooktops are the way to go! PERIOD! These things ROCK! Concerned as I was turning these things on for the first time, I was immediately relieved when there was no catastrophic, noxious, odor as was the case with my first go. I was able to cook two HUGE 4 egg each sausage and cheese omelets with perfection I had only dreamed of until these arrived! It sounds silly, but there are only two of us living here, so its not like I have to cook for a bunch of people. We have decided, with this, and other awesome kitchen technology, we can dump to the curb our gas stove. Yup, we got a kitchen with out a huge, inconsistent, dangerous, gas cooking stove! Most people will probably think our new kitchen direction is a huge downgrade, not if you are a 1 or 2 person family, and this is a profound space saver, with huge safety advantages! These cooktops cook with incredible precision, no more overcooked, or scorched omletts! Being able to precisely set the cooking temp., is a wonderful advantage I have never seen with any other cooktop, electric, gas, or glass. These things cool down quickly, turn off automatically if you remove the cooking vessile, and spills just wipe off. No more scrubbing, scraping, or spills that escape all forms of removal! NuWave has proven to me with out question that their product is safe, efficent, incredibly precise, and does not gas you when they are used! I am not here to bash the competition, that is why their name has been omitted, but my NuWave portable induction cooktops have completely rebuilt my confidence in these devices, thank you so much! We are thrilled with the decision to switch, and will never go back to the old way of cooking! Finally, if you are not familiar with cooking this way, NuWave is an excellent choice to start with. Before you take the plunge into the expence of installing an in-counter induction cooktop, these will answer all of your questions and concernes.
