Customers highly value the GeForce RTX 4090's exceptional performance and impressive cooling capabilities, frequently citing high frame rates and quiet operation. However, the high price point and large size are common criticisms. While some users report minor coil whine, many praise the card's design and ability to run games at high resolutions. Concerns exist regarding the power connector's reliability and the card's significant weight.

This thing is insane - make sure you have the power supply (at least 850W - in which case, only connect 3 of the 4 power cables) and physical space inside your case for it. (It fit fine inside my Corsair 4000D).
I primarily use GPUs for my PhD and this thing performs linear algebra incredibly fast. I did some basic benchmarking and it ran my CUDA code 2-3 times faster than my 3060Ti.

The best GPU on the market. Nothing else comes close. Runs every game at high FPS at 1440p and are more than 100 FPS if you game at 4K which is incredible! I mainly play CoD Warzone II at 1440p and get an average of 200fps at max settings. Very well designed and thermally sound, never goes above 70c degrees. Price wise is obviously expensive but you will be getting a monster of a GPU, honestly, even for 1440p the 4090 is overkill, if you ain’t playing at least at 1440p or higher then this is a total waste of money like other users say.

This GPU is incredible! I was dead set on going with the Founder's Edition and I am glad I waited. Games run at native 4k at around 80-100fps with Raytracing thanks to DLSS frame generation. Sometimes the frames are even higher. Cooling is great with temps hovering around 58C under 99% load. The GPU shroud is not as large as others, and fits in a Lian Li Dynamic EVO case. I look forward to gaming with this for a loooong time.

Fit and finish are top notch, very well built.
(*Note my pic has a 1 Pint bottle next to it, this card is a BEAST)
Performance is as expected for a 4090.
Runs fairly hot, but better than my older 3080 Ti.
Fan noise is pretty decent. It's definitely noticeable if you have a mesh case next to you, but under a table or desk it's a lot less noticeable as the noise is more of a wooshing middle frequency white noise fan noise, not an obnoxious high pitched whine.
BUT, the COIL WHINE. It's definitely noticeable when this card is under load. And there is variance between different FE cards. Mine is noticeable quieter than another FE I compared side by side with. So be sure to check out the noise under load with games you play a lot at high framerate. Furmark does not load it the same and it's actually quieter because it loads it to 100% all the time, unlike games that oscillate loads more (which is what make the coil whine worse).

I'm writing this review on 04/16/2025, but I purchased this bad boy exactly two years ago. At the time it felt excessive because I was already rocking the ASUS TUF RTX 3080, but I concerned with the limited VRAM (10 GB).
Today I have to say it was one of the best purchases I've made! Even with the release of the 50 series, it's still a top card, and I don't foresee myself upgrading for a good while.

Low watts high performance, high price. If you can afford it, she's worth the cost of entry. Runs cool which helps keep your room cool during gaming

I wanted to swap out my 3080 that I had since launch. So I went for 7900 xtx and although I loved the card it kept crashing after software updates from 3rd parties . So I went for this and yes!!! It’s an amazing card. Priced a bit high for what it gives but overall I am happy with it.

It took months but I finally was able to buy one. Best Buy should really have a better system in place to combat the scaplers and bots. Um.. what happened to the Total Tech program… I upgraded from a 3090ti and there is a noticeable bump in performance. The card was bigger than the 3090ti but there wasnt an issue installing it in my case.

Ive been loving this GPU since I got it a few months ago. It hasnt really struggled with anything ive thrown at it from gaming to video editing. The price is very high but the Founders edition is a little less so. Would probably recommend this version due to that

Went in looking for a keyboard. Came out with this beast instead. Knew this card was going to be amazing and it does not disappoint in the slightest. Thing is beast no matter what you throw at it. IMHO it’s the best looking 4090 too (so far). Glad I was able to get it when I did. Had no idea they stocked these on the down low. This card will last many years no doubt. If you get the opportunity to get one don’t hesitate.

This card, althiugh huge, is a monster and if you have a chance to get it, I reccomend it. Its a bit overkill for virtually everything unless you are using it for a workstation but if you are using it for rendering or just want to future proof your setup and dont have a budget, then this is the way to go.

I upgraded from a 3080Ti after finding the 4090 in store. This GPU is an absolute animal. I’ll admit the price stinks. However, getting it at MSRP makes it sting a lot less. That being said I can game, stream and still run over 200fps in warzone at 1440p. Hopefully this will be future proof for quite a while. I don’t see me dropping more than what I already have for a 50 series when they eventually come out.

Great Card, Bad Situation

The card itself is great. Obviously it can handle most anything you can throw at it with headroom to spare, and the build quality of the FE is generally very impressive. It's obviously extremely expensive, but you know what you're getting into there.
I rarely get above about 62 degrees Celsius, and while I know some 4090s have had issues with coil whine, my example, while not "whisper quiet", has an imperceptible level of whine with the case closed.
DLSS 3 and frame gen feel like black magic.
So why 3 stars? I was excited when I finally was able to snag a 4090 FE at msrp. Anybody who has been following the market for the last year knows availability has been an issue. I was therefore incredibly frustrated when after a week and a half or so, the bottom fan started making a sickening grinding noise, one that is especially apparent at lower RPMs. I've had cards that made this noise before, and it always gets worse over time. Usually I would just return/exchange the GPU, but because of the stock situation, and the fact that NVIDIA and all of its AIB partners are scrambling to get every available 4090 to China before export restrictions hit, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Do I RMA the card and hope NVIDIA signs off on sending me a new one, while in the meantime my return window likely runs out? Or do I return the card, and hope not only that Best Buy gets more stock, but also that I'll be lucky enough to jump on one in time, before they sell out again. Either way, I'll be without a GPU in my main rig for at best a few weeks.

I love this card, not only does it run extremely cool at 4k gaming it looks beautiful over other aib options. Nvidia really did a outstanding job on the cooler for this gen and the games I play look amazing in 4k. I'm very happy with my purchase and glad I picked this up from Best Buy as they are my go to store for electronics and pc parts.

Relative to the rest of the 40 series out so far, this feels like a better value. Most X090 series cards (3090 or the previous Titans) were 5-10% better in gaming for double the money whereas this has a pretty linear price to performance Vs the cheaper cards. Loads of VRAM is great for ML models (although the gimped floating point isn’t) and of course it’s a monster in games, even with a 5800X3D I’m still cpu bottlenecked in Flight Sim at 4K even. For competitive games like overwatch it’s absurdly fast, runs around 500FPS on average so next to zero input latency. All in all, I’m happy with it and I think it’s fairly worth it given the halo product price point, that is, at MSRP. Not worth $2K.
The card is also beautiful and feels like a piece of industrial design, it looks so good I almost wish it sat on my desk to admire but a windowed case is a good compromise.

Such an amazing upgrade from the RTX 3070. I use a 49 inch monitor (5120x1440) and it can play any game at ultra settings and ray tracing with a breeze. It’s great for video editing as well. So glad I made this purchase

This gave me the wow factor the 3090 was decent and looked good at the time but it didn't make me feel like it was the best product at the time because it struggled with RT titles. The 4090 shows it's power and doesn't disappoint me.
Cyberpunk @ 4k with RT maxed finally with playable good fps. Also runs Darktide maxed settings with RT so much better than the 3090 (RT was on low). My LG C2 is complete now. If you can get one and afford one then it's worth it but only if you're wanting to max stuff @ 4k with RT. The connector is not great but I'll get a cable mod in the mail one day (also might be a fire hazard so make sure it's plugged all the way in).
Cons: Price is the biggest con but I justified it in my own sick head probably won't upgrade for awhile this time...
