Brought for my son who is a big time gamer. At first thought he wouldn't like because he loves his big systems: PlayStation 4, Xbox one, wii. But he actually Ike's it...a lot.

Fantastic Android Tablet/Gaming Console

We bought one to use in the living room to stream movies with Kodi and Popcorn Time. It also functions as a fantastic console gaming machine for my daughters. They love to play Minecraft Story Mode and console emulators on it. Definitely worth the low price. I would definitely get the Shield Controller as well. It turned out to be even more useful that I thought. The controller has a headphone jack, mouse control, volume control, home and back buttons. All very useful in the living room.

Best Gaming Tablet for Serious Gamers

This tablet comes only as the tablet in the box with no accessories, not even a power plug to keep it on the affordable side. That's OK, it takes a standard Android USB to Micro USB cable which most users will have lying around. If not, there are some great quality multiple port charging systems and high end braided cables on the market today that are far cheaper than the factory international power plug that complete your ultimate gaming tablet needs.
Initial setup was a breeze, literally took less than 5 minutes with creating new GMail email addresses to be able to use the Play Store. NVidia has their own store software called NVidia Shield Hub loaded on which reaches out and connects through to the Google Play Store for games that are built and optimized for this tablet. Other higher end quality games can be bought through NVidia's GeForce Now (Paid Subscription Required).
Other than a few OS and Proprietary NVidia Apps, this tablet is clean starting with no extra unnecessary apps. This tablet comes loaded with Android Lollipop OS but immediately updates to (Android 6.0 Marshmallow Over-The-Air Free upgrade is available)
Highly recommend the highest 128GB MicroSD card and make sure it clicks all the way down into place. I had trouble getting it to click, shutting the rubber seal door and the card kept ejecting upon using it shaking the tablet around in normal use. After I made sure the card was fully inserted, this problem is no longer there. A lot of research went into whether the Shield K1 can handle the fastest Read/Write Speed cards on the market and if that speed was necessary... after consulting the manufacture and doing my own tests a 80/mb Read / 20mb Write is all that is needed and sufficient. The PRO cards that exist on the market won't see their true potential on this tablet.

Shield is a well built tablet that performs well

The shield tablet is a very well built tablet that has good performance. I only have a couple of small complaints.
1. The wireless controller required an update to connect to my tablet - for the first few days it just did not work - an update appeared and suddenly it worked.
2. I also purchased the stylus - which works well for a couple of applications - but does not store in the tablet or the case.
I do strongly recommend buying a screen protector and case - I lost my last tablet to a couple of seconds of carelessness that would not have been a problem with a case.

Best Gaming Tablet...BUT

This tablet has all the right specs to make it a great gaming tablet except for the display screen. The display has a YELLOW tint to it and changing the settings for the display only helps slightly. Also, the display fully lit is not as bright as my three year old Asus with less resolution. I say get it and try it out, see what you think. The tablet has a POWERFUL processor and the speakers are excellent however. For $199 though it simply cannot be beat! It does NOT come with a battery charger I should mention.

After having been gifted a lower end tab,I had to have 1 a real 1. So after much searching I found a tab. That received ratings that I should come to exspect, in this case NVidia. Enough said you can make your purchase in pease.

Honestly I was a little disappointed to find no stylus or charging cords with this tablet but in all honesty the stylus is more of a luxury item and the wall charger and cord can be bought anywhere for cheap so it's not a big deal. Thus is a great tablet for the price and bought it for my aunt, which she loves. So all in all its worth it even tho there's a few things you need extra to buy

I purchased this tablet to run Kali Linux for pen testing, so far I am very happy with the performance and support of this tablet. Nvidia has recovery images incase you choose to root the tablet and then go back. There is driver support and many user forums that support reloading with different Linux OS's. Plus the Nvidia Android image is awesome right out of the box.

It could run smoother and I really wish there was a 32gb option but having an sd card slot helps and really this is as close to stock Android as you can get. Recommend for anyone who wants a tablet but doesn't want to spend a bunch of money for one.

The Nvidia Shield tablet is one of the very best tablets you can buy, especially at that price point. I'm not a gamer but this was the only tablet I considered buying. Also I had to have the tablet ordered and it arrived at the store ahead of time. I haven't had the tablet very long but so far I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Nice Android Tablet

This is a nice android tablet. The screen is top notch and the feel and responsiveness is very good. The downside is that there is no power cord included with the tablet. As this was a replacement of an older tablet, the lack of power cord was not too big of an issue. The possibility of streaming from the PC with a nvidia graphic card makes this an even better buy. Just make sure to verify the graphic card is compatible.
