Up until this point I had never heard of the Nyne brand but after listening to this guy, I'm really glad I found them. This is a really nice rugged looking portable speaker system. It has a lot of connection possibilities and even comes with a power supply that has multiple AC adapters for various countries. First off, I turned it on and paired it with my phone in all of about 20 seconds. Really nice. It has Bluetooth and NFC connections. Then it was just a matter of opening up my phones music player and and finding a song. Plenty of power with this speaker, and a good amount of bass. One of the best sounding portables I've heard. There is a small panel on the back that flips down to allow access to the ports. It comes with a USB port for charging your phone (although it's only a 1A power connection), an audio in and an audio out jack so that you can plug your phone into it using your headphone jack. You can also plug the output from the Rebel into an input jack on a receiver if you want to use it that way. This allows you to stream music to the Rebel and it will output it to your stereo. It even comes with a good quality cable so you don't need to hunt one down. Or you can plug in a microphone. There is also a row of indicator lights that show you the charge level of the battery. Really nice layout and enough jacks to let you connect it to just about anything you want. The housing is water resistant and has a cool design with a built in handle. Very easy to just grab it and go. It has a nice flat black appearance and a wedge shape. The external buttons are nicely laid out and large enough to actually see what they do. They even light up while the unit is on, so you can always find the button you're looking for without any trouble. All the other mobile speakers I've used end up having buttons that are so tiny it's next to impossible to find the one you want. Really nice to find a company that understands this is an important feature! This is a really nice sounding speaker with plenty of power, plenty of connection possibilities and a great look. Glad I took a chance on Nyne.

The Nyne Rebel Bluetooth speaker isn’t something you are going to throw in a back pack and carry around. It is a speaker you will use in the back yard or pack in the car and take with you. (It does have a cool handle so you could carry it around if that’s your thing) The speaker case is plastic and has a smooth rubbery touch and feels solid. There are small rubber feet to keep it from sliding off table. The soft-touch buttons line the top of the speaker and are back-lit, a really cool touch. It is also rated water, dust and shock resistant. I’m not one to chance it but it is nice to know getting caught in a rain storm won’t damage the speaker. Pairing was as simple as touching my phone to the right side of the speaker and following the prompts on the screen. The reason you buy a speaker though is for how it sounds, and the Rebel doesn’t disappoint! The sound is crisp and the bass is rich and room shaking, firing out of each end of the unit. You would never know the unit is plastic. Volume is incredible and will fill a baseball field, volley ball game or camp site with clear sound all the way to the top of its range. It also sounds great at its lowest volume and could be used indoors as well. The Rebel, like most Bluetooth speakers has a microphone and doubles as a hands-free speaker phone should you get a call while using it. Call clarity was decent and usable. An added feature on the Rebel is that it doubles as a battery pack that can charge your device while it streams music. On the battery, I was able to play the unit for about 8 hours and still had power to spare. The Rebel comes with a wall wart charger and assorted adapter plugs to accommodate various countries. I would have like to have seen a 12-volt car charger included since it seems this speaker was designed to be used outdoors. There is not much to be disappointed about with the Nyne Rebel. My only issue is the unit doesn’t use a universal USB charger. I would recommend the Nyne Rebel for anyone who likes loud music with thumping bass.

I'm a bit conflicted in my overall rating, so here's my honest review after playing with the Rebel for two weeks. There are so many goods and a few missed opportunities for this audio speaker to be the next potential boom box of the 2010's. First of all, the light weight, practical shape and size, hardy rugged texture, and easy pairing is appealing. Because of the sleek design and shock absorbent material throughout the speaker, it is definitely great for your outdoor gigs, picnics, hikes, fire pit at the beach. Not to mention the long battery life.10 hours, whaaat? I have mainly used it for my karaoke ala coffee house thing I've got going at my pad. The best thing about it was how I can have it as my first speaker source, then piggy back another source with the stereo output jack. The device delivers convenience v.s variety. Case in point, the output jack was necessary for me since the speaker lacked deep bass and had no EQ. This was the major fallout for me, and why it was a 4 and not a 5. Don't get me wrong the sound output is of quality and it didn't bug out. I just wished it had an additional EQ dial or button. The Rebel delivers in other amenities that are worthy to mention. For example it charges your devices with USB connectivity. Additionally, since it pairs with Bluetooth, you can answer your phone calls easily. The best highlighted feature of this device, is that it's lightweight and wireless from 100 feet away. Nice! For the quality of craftsmanship including water resistant features, the multi cross functionality with other speakers, the quality of high treble tweets, and a hint of innovation, I rate it a four. I look forward in reviewing other Nyne models in the future.

Nyne's Bluetooth speaker is about the size of a stepstool or small boombox, super lightweight, and has amazing sound - it can easily fill up a large room with sound without distortion. Outdoors it performs very well. The bass is strong, I haven't found a way to do any sort of equalization on it (outside my streaming device, that is - the speaker doesn't seem to have any sort of tweaking ability). The battery really does last a long time; I've been playing with it for a week on and off (an hour here and there) and haven't run out of the initial charge yet. It has an auto-off feature that shuts off the speaker when not in use that also helps preserve in case you're forgetful. Bluetooth pairing is fast. The location of the ports is convenient and also protected. Added bonus that I haven't seen on other devices: you can use the speaker to charge your phone via USB connection on the back. Thanks to the aforementioned rockin' battery life, your music will last the length of the party for sure. Charging time is a smidge slow, so plug it in the night before you need it. The entire case is rubberized and while I'm not brave enough to spray it down with the hose, getting splashed or having it out in the rain or snow probably won't be a big problem. I just wouldn't toss it in the pool.

I purchased this bluetooth speaker after a helpful member of the staff allowed me to try the demo-version in-store. The sound is phenomenal, rich, deep bass and clear, crisp tone. bluetooth range is approximately 30 feet before itskips out a little bit, which is perfectly alright with me!

I was surprised at the size of the shipping box this thing came in. I was even more surprised at the size of the box the speaker came in. But I was most surprised at the size of the speaker itself. Pictures don't do this speaker justice. It's big (but not too big to be portable) and built like a tank. It's a heavy plastic, coated with a rubber finish and with a metal grille. There's a handle on the back for easy portability and a gasketed cover over the ports on the back to keep it water resistant. Pairing with my Android phone was very easy using NFC. The controls are on a touch panel on top and are nicely backlit. I was able to control volume and playback controls. Sound is very good for a bluetooth speaker with a lot of balance. Bass is good, but don't expect pounding subwoofer sounding bass. It's balanced well with the rest of the sound. It also gets loud. Room filling loud. Backyard filling loud. I have one of those tailgate speakers and this will match the volume easily, and is more portable. It also sounds better. Inside the box is an aux cable (nice touch) the AC adaptor to charge it up and the thickest little instruction booklet I've ever seen.

Let's get this out of the way first - this speaker is large for a portable. If you planned to toss it in your backpack or suitcase, you're going to be disappointed. At the same time, this size allows it to reproduce lower frequencies without distortion and give some sense of a stereo field. Although it's large, it's also very light for its size. and has a convenient handle on the back. It's easy to carry with one hand. Battery life is solid, and it's about as simple to use as you can get, with all controls right on top and backlit. Pairing is really easy, and the bluetooth range is excellent. The sound is reasonable overall, and very good for a portable. With front and side firing speakers, stereo imaging is noticeably better than most portable speakers. The volume is loud enough to fill a medium sized room and do so without significant distortion. Overall, an excellent choice if you don't need something small.
