    Quality sci-fi flick

I am usually apologetic with sci-fi movies, because they're harder to pull off. Creating believable worlds isn't easy to do. Oblivion isn't spectacular by any means, and is mainly formulaic. But it does the action scenes extremely well, and the Earth presented here is interesting. I personally enjoyed the security droid and it's visceral machine gunning more than anything else--watch with the speakers turned up.

I really enjoy the story, acting, and the cinematography, but I just don’t understand the ending. Maybe I’m just over thinking it, but it doesn’t make sense to me. Other than that I really think the story is fun and interesting. I really wish there was more back story or explanation to who the HQ was. It’s all an AI computer??? Ok, I suppose, but I feel like there should be more than that. The bluray quality and sound is great and it’s a great movie to view natural landscapes.

    Good Alien Apocalypse Flick

This a good film for those into the post-apocalyptic genre. Specifically, the aftermath of an alien invasion. The plot isn't terribly surprising and you will likely have it mostly figured out before 15 minutes is up, but the story is still quite entertaining and fun. I bought this on a whim & as a Tom Cruise hater, fully expected to dislike it. It exceeded expectations and Cruise was quite good in the role. Definitely worth a watch, although don't expect much replay value.

As always, the trailer is full of explosions and set pieces. Oblivion the movie is an entirely different beast that values a human story and characters that are driven by common purpose. While the cast is tiny, I found much to enjoy from Cruise, Riseborough, Freeman and that Nordic guy from Headhunters who is showing up more frequently in Hollywood blockbusters. Aside from unusually limited screen-time, Morgan and other supporting cast are effective and memorable

If you are used to standard sci-fi fare this may be a bit different than you expect. It is a great story with lots of twists and turns. The right amount of odd little moments that make you suspect there is something odd going on without giving you so much that you see the full picture too quickly. And, if you are like me, you will hit those nagging questions about how something could be only to find out later that when you know the truth it makes perfect sense! Great film! Great characters! Great story! A movie that actually requires you to think!

In my opinion, this is a really fun movie to watch and I don't know why it isn't more well-known or well-reviewed. I'd say it's not quite as gripping as Live Die Reapeat, but my wife and I both enjoyed it. Tom Cruise is fantastic in this. The story is very interesting, set in a post-apocalyptic world and there is a nicely woven relationship involved in the story-line too. I checked this movie out from the library, enjoyed it and then bought it when it went on sale with Black Friday.

If you are looking for more true native 4k releases and not some upscaled wannabe then you should consider this movie. It is also science fiction that takes place predominately in space. I thought the movie was good, not great, and not bad. It is not what you expect for Tom Cruise, but he did a good job. The picture looks absolutely fanastic. Another great 4K release.

I liked this film a lot and I usually don't like Tom Cruise, but he really gives a good performance here. Special effects are great and this is actually just as good of a transfer IMO as the 4k version which had a lot of DNR. Definitely recommend.

to begin with, this was a great movie, I mean, just a great movie even when it was originally released in 1080P Blu-ray. now with the amazing UHD upgrade, the video is super amazing and the already amazing audio has been upgraded to Dolby ATMOS and it's something that you have to hear and experience to truly understand it. I have a 7.1.4 and this is easily one of the best ATMOS mixes released this year hands down. it really changes and enhances the movie watching experience!

This movie is set in post-apocalyptic Earth where the planet was apparently attacked by some strange alien race. The main character and his companion is tasked with protecting these huge machines that process water and fixing the drones which provide surveillance of the planet. As he yearns for more knowledge of the former planet, the character starts to learn what truly happened to Earth in a twist you'll have to see. *I believe there was a movie called 'Moon' that this particular film is made from or similar too,

Set on a future Earth, civilization lives above the clouds and scavengers collect ancient artifacts from the polluted surface below. An earthbound soldier, who is stuck there repairing drones that patrol and blast a savage alien life form, encounters a beautiful woman who crashed in a craft and they have an experience that forces him to question his world view.

The Oblivion film itself is a pretty good movie. Nice story with some action and nice effects. 4K disc quality is also pretty solid compared to other 4k releases. Dolby Atmos soundtrack is great and picture quality is also pretty good. Watched on an LG OLED tv. Not a huge step up from the regular blu ray release, but nice for those indulging in the new format that have the 4k gear already.

So, bought this movie cause Morgan Freeman. Was proven right, but I think there were a lot of scenes that I saw in the special features that had been deleted, that easily could have stayed in and not taken away from the movie, but would definitely have added to the story. In all, I would say it was an ok movie, beautifully shot. I lowered my expectations, and was entertained. Isn't that what movies are for?

I saw this movie in the theatre and loved some of the imagery. If i remember correctly it was kind of a box office flop, so now that its out on 4k / blu ray its heavily discounted. I enjoyed the movie overall, it doesnt have a ton of replay value to me -- but it is beautiful on a good 4k tv so i highly recommend considering the typical discounted price of this movie.

Enjoyable early 1970's sci-fi type of story but shot today. Cruise is playing the Charlton Heston role, that would've been played in 1972. Two roles I thought were miscast, Morgan Freeman and Nikolaj coster-waldau, the weight of who they are leaves you feeling , why not more? Beautifully shot with a great sound design. A lot of love was put into this movie. Very enjoyable.

This movie was made for 4K UHD. The HDR is absolutely gorgeous and really adds to the already beautiful 1080p picture of the original Blu-ray release. The real charm of this release is the new Dolby Atmos soundtrack. What an experience that just has to be heard to be believed. Universal has really made the retail packaging for this UHD HD release stand out amongst the other 4k UHD releases. Very impressed and well worth the $$$ over the original HD BD

You can always count on any Cruise movie of the sci-fi action genre to be top notch, and this is no exception. While not quite up there with War of the Worlds or the recent Edge of Tomorrow; Live Die Repeat (outstanding! ) Oblivion is definitely worth a viewing. And worth a purchase at the sale price I found it for. It definitely has an interesting twist towards the end!

Tom Cruise doee what he does best, which is portray a character with a dedicated mindset that is challenged by external forces. Although the plot requires some leaps of faith for its ending it is nonetheless an exciting, innovative sci-fi entry into the dystopian future canon.
