First impression
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only had this game for a few days but I really like it. It’s a great adaptation of old school jrpg with improved graphics and good story. It does start out a little slow but picks up as you play. The music is one of the best thing about this game.

Really Fun Game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a long time fan of the Bravely Default series, I was very happy upon learning about this game! One of the many reasons I bought a Nintendo Switch was for Octopath Traveler, and it's been worth it. The story follows eight different characters and is separated into multiple chapters for each character. Gameplay is turn-based just like the Bravely Default series. And similarly, you can "Brave" (in this case, use BP) to use multiple attacks/abilities in a single turn. Unlike Bravely Default however, you don't need to "Default" (defend) in your turn to save up BP. BP is saved each turn regardless of whether you attack, defend, or use an ability. The art style and graphics are amazing too! If you're a fan of turn based RPG's, I'd say give this game a shot!

Solid Classic Style RPG
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thoroughly enjoyed this game, but there are some nuances you should be aware of. 1st, you don't have to get all 8 people but its highly recommended and honestly necessary to get the true ending. 2nd, it is highly advisable to do chapters in a certain way. Do all characters chapter 1, then all of their chapter 2s, etc. It is not advisable at all to try to run through a single characters full story without working on the others. 3rd, character interaction is honestly related to side skits. Which is probably tied to how the story is presented. Despite this, the stories are still well done. 4th, finding the path to the true ending can be a bit vague and difficult without help. Be warned if you want to play legit it won't be easy to find it. Despite these warnings, the game is fun. The OST is fantastic, and the graphics have a charm to them that I would describe as idk...HD Snes in a way? If you enjoy RPGS, chances are you'll like this game.

Excellent for what it is!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Octopath Traveler is a great game with 8 paths and plenty party customization available leaving tons of replay value while still leaving every path worth being it's own game with unique stories and characters, you're bound to love at least one path if not all. The art direction is a unique one you don't see much in recent years, giving a blast to the past but with stunning effects leaving every second of the game beautiful and new. The gameplay is that of a standard easy to understand RPG but with it's own twists leaving engaging entertainment at every encounter. The game is fit for almost anyone but with the right paths chosen it can feel like it was made just for you.

Interesting and fun RPG Concept
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Instead of a large overarching story, the game instead has 8 separate protagonists all joined together to help each other with their own stories. Blended with an innovative battle system. great RPG for the switch!

Incredible game for JRPG fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Octopath traveler takes much ibspiration off of the formulas used in the bravely default games and improves on them in other areas. The graphics, music and story are superb, making this one of the best games too.

Classic style rpg
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game is babe. Awesome turnbased combat like bravely default. Graphical style of a SNES rpg like ff6 with a 3d effect. Music is great as well. The ability to take this all on the go makes it even more sweet.

Great story, beautiful views
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game was a LOT of fun. It was a long game, but you follow stories from eight different party members and each of the stories is really intriguing and makes you want to find out what happens next. Battle is old school turn based, but they throw in a mechanic where you can build up stronger attacks after each turn. The views are amazing - it's pixel graphics but the backdrops look fantastic. The music is captivating too. Each area and town has its own score and is very pleasant. I had a blast with this game.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only played the game for a few hours and already in love with it. The battle system is great, the visuals are spot on and the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in a while. Great game!

RPG classic style
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Final Fantasy was my 1st RPG and I've been hooked since, Octopath is kind of an homage to that in the sense. The cool thing is you start off 1 of 8 different story lines, they will intersect here and there. Or you can do what I did and get everyone, and then boost them up along the way while specifically doing one characters story at a time. A plus in this game, you can have a '2nd job class', so your fighter can also have thief skills, so cut enemies down and rob them at the same time, as well as a hunter than can mass heal the party too, or however you want to power up you characters. I highly recommend this game, the nostalgia 8bit look just a bonus for me

Good game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Graphics are really pretty. The 16 bit nostalgia mixed with current day shaders and an interesting battle system makes random encounters fun. Story is good for most characters as well

great old school rpg
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.let me preface this review by saying, i am nowhere near done with the game. in fact, i've only gotten 4 of the main 8 characters. however, i have spent over 10 hours with it so i can give you my basic take away so far. the game itself is wonderful. the graphics are a mixture of old school sprite animation with newer touch ups like lighting, shadowing, weather effects, etc. the battle system is very fun and has a bit of depth to it. another thing i liked was how each main character has a special ability. even when not in battle. so the thief can steal people's possessions, the knight can challenge people to a 1v1 duel, the apothecary can glean extra information (cheaper inn prices, more items at armor and weapon shops), etc. the one negative i have to say about it involves the story. while each individual character's stories have been good so far, there doesn't seem to be much cohesion. they don;t really seem to have a reason for being together or anything. but that could change with some progress. overall, if you enjoy old school rpgs in the style of final fantasy 6, this is a great buy. don't hesitate to pick it up!

Best Switch Game To Date
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have not been able to put this game down. It does have a few "character flaws" if you will. Your party feels very disconnected, not much interaction between party members. And when there is its very forced and out of place. And some of the voice acting leaves much to be desired. But this game is almost the lovechild of Final Fantasy and Zelda. Great old school graphics, ample amount of side quests. I cant stress enough how enjoyable the game is. Each character you add to your party possesses a unique ability to interact with NPC characters, which almost forces you to revisit every town in the game, which for me is a plus. Highly recommend.

Awesome classic JRPG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I adore this game. The music is excellent. One of the best OSTs of the year. The combat system is really fun for a turn based RPG and keeps battles from becoming monotonous. The art style is breathtaking and truly unique. It looks like Final Fantasy 6 in the modern age. The characters are very likable and the stories sometimes go darker than you'd think they would. I have two complaints though. Each chapter follows the same structure, and the main characters generally don't interact much. The stories don't connect in a major way. However, this did not reduce my enjoyment of the game in a serious way. I really enjoyed it.

Beautiful retro-styled JRPG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you grew up with traditional sprite-based RPGs back in the day, this game is a must buy. Other than just pandering to nostalgia, this game does a great job mixing in the old with the new. It has beautiful visuals with great music. The story is interesting but may not be what you expected with the 8 different characters and their separate paths. There is not really a large overarching plot to combine their stories but rather just them helping one another on each of their problems. Great game! Would recommend.

Great for RPG Lovers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you love the classic JRPGs, this game will scratch that itch easily. I love how it looks like a HD interpretation of the 16-bit era of RPGs. But it doesn't limit itself to the 16-bit mechanics and really looks nice playing on the Switch screen or a large TV. I also love the music, which always has me turning the volume up one or two extra notches. Some may complain the story isn't very cohesive, which I suppose it can be at time as you jump from one characters story to another; but I think each individual characters story is interesting enough to keep the game moving. If you like JRPGs, you should get this game.

8 dreams
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a must-have for fans of the classic Final Fantasy gameplay. The 2.5D pixel art style is amazing, and the storylines for each character drew me in immediately. My only gripe has more to do with the difficulty scaling and occasional grinding, but hey, it's an RPG, sometimes grinding is necessary.
