This film is a break from the current jump scare heavy/no substance trend in horror. Not to say there aren't jumpscares but I never felt disconnected from the story. Essentially the film deals with a haunted mirror that has plagued its owners for hundreds of years and now a girl and her brother wish to revisit the mirror that destroyed their childhood and family and put an end to its existence. Really tight, creepy, tense film. Admittedly I've always been a Gillan Anderson fan and this film showcases her quite a bit though I wouldn't say it presents her finest performance.

The story goes that there's a mirror that makes people see things and causes nothing but death and destruction. The main characters lives were dramatically altered when they were exposed to the mirror in their childhood and decide to take matters into their own hands, although one requires a bit of convincing. It's an exciting and interesting concept, to see them directly choose to face their fear and right the wrongs done to them, but you already know how its going to end before the movie even starts to pick up. Without spoiling anything, it's not a good idea to mess with something that can alter your perception utterly and completely.

The beginning of the movie was really good. The story was credible, I wish they would have given the realatio ship with fiancée more time. I liked the relationship between brother and sister. The picture was too dark at times. I liked the movie overall but hoped the ending would have been scarier. Or that everyone would have died. It reminds me if ither ghost movies. When the son goes to hail at end it made me feel line the whole story was for nothing. It pretty much ended like it started, but with a couple more dead people.

Even though it is a WWE Studio film, do not pass on this. Another horror home run by Mike Flanagan

A brother and sister who survived a horrid event as child, their father killed their mother, and tried to kill them, now grown up are trying to put the pieces back together from the terrible night. The brother still not sure what happened after being doped up in a hospital for years in released to his sister. She tries to prove to him, that it wasn't their parents going crazy, but an evil mirror who was responsible for the death of their parents.

'Oculus' is a great horror film. I enjoyed this film a lot. There are some twists that are unexpected, and the horror is truly scary. Both the plot and the storyline are very intriguing. I was hooked from the start of the film all the way up to the end credits. I am glad to have purchased this film. The blue ray pack offers more special features that help the viewer understand 'Oculus'.

As far as newer horror movies go, this is one of the better ones. Don't be fooled just because it's by wwe studios. Also has an extra of a low budget mini version of this when the director was starting out. My memory is kinda foggy but it might be a student film.

Scary movie to watch and a lot of stuff happening very good

The movie overall was good. Had an original plot with some unique twists, however some parts of the movie were predictable and cheesy. At the end of the movie there is a lot of flashback-to-present cinematography that can make it a bit confusing on what is actually happening in the movie. Good movie to rent but would not recommend buying.

This movie is good for horror fans. There are plenty of scenes that make you jump and others that keep you tense throughout. The story is original and will keep you guessing throughout. You never really know if the story is true or if the people are just crazy. Kinda messes with your mind at times, which is great.

Everything I've read about this movie before watching it, there is a very divided opinion regarding how this movie plays out. I'm glad I went into the movie not knowing too much about the plot as it kept me guessing, but I fall into the side that did not like how the movie ended. Seems like there were so many possibilities for how the movie would play out, and the ending is not what I expected, and not in a good way either. Regardless, the blu-ray transfer of this movie is top notch. Although a rather dark movie (light wise, not plot), blacks are strong, yet the image is impeccable. Surround sound will have you looking over your shoulder in fear, and voices are crisp and distinct through the whole movie. Come on Hollywood, let's actually put out some quality horror movies! Still worth a watch, might want to rent it first.

I thought this was a really good movie. I saw it on tv one day and as soon as it was done went to the store to buy it. The director is becoming one of my favorite horror directors with movies like this one, hush, and Ouija: origin of evil.

I am not impressed anymore with horror flicks these days. This originally had a good plot going but at the end, with the constant flashbacks, it made it very hard to follow what was actually happening. Ending was lacking as well, too many unanswered questions.

Overall, this was a pretty good film. I watched it just because I am a fan of Karen Gillan from her days on Doctor Who, but was pleasantly surprised with the whole plot and story line. This movie is much better than most of the recent films in this genre.

Really liked this movie. I dont really like any of their other movies but this was good! Havnt seen a good horror movie for while, so was pleasant surprise. Few jump scares got me. Story interesting, there will probably be a sequel hopefully maybe.

This movie is very creepy. It almost made me "jump" but I very rarely "jump". I thought it was a bit different from most scary movies and I enjoyed it very much.

I love horror movies and I really enjoyed this one. It is not reliant on gore to jump scenes to scare you. The story line uses mind twisting to create suspense which i enjoyed. I definitely recommend this movie if you like suspense.

If you are a horror fan, give this movie a chance. It got good suspense and the chemistry between the actors are good, specially the performance of Karen Gillian is just worth to watch this movie.
