What makes this VR headset great is that there are no wires to get tangled up in or trip over. Initial set up was a breeze which took about 30 minutes. Pros: No costly gaming computer needed. No wires to get tangled up in or trip over. Guardian software is plus since you have freedom to move around and prevents you from tripping or running into things. Can use when charger is plugged in but not recommended. New games are frequently added to the Oculus store. Cons: Graphics aren't as great compared to a VR wired set, although acceptable. Eye mask on the Oculus Quest VR can't be cleaned properly and can get filthy easily. Not as many apps to choose from compared to the other wired VR's. Battery life is fairly good depending on the apps you are using, gaming apps seem to use up much more energy shortening the VR's battery life, with beat saber I get close to 2 1/2 hours of continuous play before needing to plug in the unit. Hand controller battery life is also decent, using the Oculus Quest at least 4 hours a day for a month, I had to change my batteries 4 times. Mirroring the device from your smart phone may be a problem for some users, read instructions carefully. If you are considering of purchasing the oculus quest I recommend that you consider purchasing the following items: VR disposable cover pads (hygiene purposes and keeping the original eye mask clean) A silicone eye mask for the Oculus Quest (for comfort and hygiene, optional, I enjoy these so much I have two) A magnetic usb-c charging cord, External portable power bank I originally purchased the quest as a fitness tool (meditation and exercise) , which is working out great for me.

VR use to be a gimmick, and ill be honest watching videos doesn't do this experience any justice. I kind of looked at it as the VR version of the Wii when it came out. This is one of those things you have to wear to get the full impact. It's pretty amazing for what it is and I'm blown away with where they have gone. PRO's: *Tracking, response is awesome, watching movies and 360 VR videos is crazy. *Gaming is immersive and makes you want to get up and move. *Ability to setup a virtual play area is awesome, and works. just make sure the grid setup isn't to close to things for when you swing punches lol . *Ability to use with PC, Steam VR etc using Link, and running a hardline connected to the PC. *Do not always need an internet connection (Oculus games). You literally can break this out on the beach and play the games stored. *Portability, and ability if needed to run off a usb power bank in your pocket if you wanted too. *IOS, Android, PC app's *Has built in audio and microphone. *Voice dictation works great. Cons: *Lot of the games feel over priced in the Oculus store and some very short. Add-ons feel nickel and dimed. *Hand controllers you need to get the gel covers for to keep the battery doors from wanting to slide off during game play. *Game graphics are in the area of Sony PS2, Xbox 1 generation. *Feels abut 100 dollars over priced. *Resolution hurts when dealing with smaller text, using windows desktop etc. *Need more actively fun work out games. *It's Facebook owned. So how they handle user data. up for debate. What you need to buy with this? *Storage case. *Lens cover *Gel hand held controller covers**** *Head strap padding for comfort. *Rechargeable/or stock up on AA batteries.

We are using it to stay exercise and stay fit during the stay at home time with COVID 19. Multiple immersive games that require you to use your body and move as the controller. The graphics are amazing, you can do it anywhere, no cords or computer needed! BOX VR is our favorite program - you have to punch orbs that fly at you in a specific way at a specific time in perfect beat with the music. You are so immersed in playing this amazing game that you do not even notice the calories flying off your body until you look at your final score and calorie tally. Its kind of like doing a killer Tae Bo workout, but you have no idea that you are working out. You are playing and having fun. Lots of other cool games like this. Beat Saber is also great for moving to music - you wiled light sabers and chop stuff in time with the music. Honestly, you have to play this - words cannot do it justice. There are many other great programs including Wander which lets you go anywhere in the world and look around 360 degrees as if you were standing there - brilliant!!! There are games you can play with others as well - I like Elven Assasin where you are one of a team of archers defending the town from attacking hordes. We started with one headset and everyone liked it so much that we now have one for each member of our family. The non-gamers love it as much as the gamers. 500 is cheap for this device since you can cancel your gym membership and use the available apps to get in better shape than ever.

This oculus device is the future of entertainment including movies, videos, and gaming! The technology looks so real and it is very immersive, especially the fact that it is completely wireless and untethered. When connecting an oculus link cable to a gaming computer this device becomes nearly identical to Oculus rift S and other PC VR devices. Would pay twice what I did for this.

i love this VR set. went with the 128 gig cause it was in stock and always regret when i buy things with the lesser storage space and wishing i had more. first why a 4 star. they market this as a stand alone headset which is great. but i feel they could have provided a case for it. the battery dies fast if you are playing games with it as well. and nothing for your feet or legs. reason for legs would be nice to get a VR drum set for instance. and lack of games at moment. something that is kinda a pro and a con, you can connect this to a pc as well. but at the moment not the best. the provided cable kinda worked for me but was laggy. i got another cable that they sell (very pricy though) and it worked way better. still a little lag at times though. this allows you to also get rift games and play as well as steam games. it did take a little bit of work to get it working though, and especially if you want it wireless. but its a start and hopefully will get better. like i said above about lack of games. this opens it up a bit more. but because the games are meant for the rift, they are a little laggy. i am not to sure why other then maybe the headset is still trying to use its own software and hardware instead of using the pc? outside of that though. its a lot of fun. games work great for the ones that are for this headset. cord it came with is a decent length. you can also buy longer cords for it. its different for sure. i was impressed with using it. its a workout with some games for sure. if you want a stand alone VR set, this one i suggest getting. i love that i can go to a buddies house and bring this along and not have to have a pc. if you are a casual gamer, i also suggest this. i have a decent laptop that is VR ready and got that set up so i can play other games from steam as well. this allows me to easily be able to take the headset with the laptop and get the best of both worlds. but like i said, you might get some lag and what not when playing steam games. i have mainly played a bingo game so its a simple game and it runs well. if you are wanting this mainly to play games from your pc, then there are better headsets out there for that purpose that i believe use your pc hardware to get a better more fluid experience. but that may be something that can change in the future. not sure if that can be a update to the device, hope so. but at least this headset, man does everything feel a lot more realistic.

This is a great intro to wireless VR. It's a little heavy and you can't wear it very long before it gets uncomfortable. You will definitely need to buy a third party cover for the part that goes against your face because the stock cover is rough and unable to be cleaned so it's not very sanitary or comfortable. I would also recommend getting a portable battery pack since the quest drains it's power quickly. I have the PSVR as well and it's more comfortable to wear and has a wider field of vision than the quest but it's excusable since the quest is so portable.

Wow! just to start it off, wow. This Headset is innovative. i love that it requires no wires to play and how you dont even need a computer to set it up or add any games or apps. it has its very own menu for all your browsing needs! games, social apps, internet browser, movies, and more! this is definitely a purchase i consider a investment because this is The Future of Entertainment! plus its standalone again! you can take it to your friends house, your parents house, or even to the park. i mean you can take it anywhwere. Ive shown this to many of mu friends, and even my parents, let me tell you. It was a hit. they all loved it! Even my little neice quickly understood its controls. If you are interested even in the slightest, these headsets are so worth it. I recommend you to get the Oculus Rift without a doubt as its been one of my all time best entertainment purchases and i hope it’ll be yours as well!

You've likely read all the hype regarding the Oculus Quest from its many fans. Well, this time believe the hype. The Quest is a breakthrough product that provides an incredible virtual reality experience. And that's why they're selling these as fast as they can make them. There are already a healthy number of great games and experiences, some free. Smiles, chills, and thrills are guaranteed. Best of all, this is a standalone device. No cables required while using it! You do need to use a charging cable when the internal battery runs low, but the charge lasts over two hours with normal use. And you can hook up a portable battery back (Anker's products are great) to provide even larger playing/viewing time. There are some complaints about comfort while wearing the headset. While I don't personally find it uncomfortable, there are modifications and third-party products to help with this. I can't express the size of the smile on my face when I first used this. And it continues to make me smile widely each and every time I put it on. This is the state of the art in VR. Grab one, and I bet you'll smile too!

Virtual reality has finally hit an inflection point with the Oculus Quest, where you are free to step into new worlds without stepping around cables or cords, where the once impossible now not only seems possible but IS possible. No fancy PC rigs are required for the Quest — it never needs to be tethered (*minor note: except to charge the battery!) and is such a masterful bit of technology that once you strap in and turn on you’ll be absolutely gobsmacked and sport a grin from ear to ear. While there are occasional hiccups in some of the software and games, for a day one purchase nearly everything works exactly as advertised. I’m incredibly impressed by the Guardian system which allows you to set a physical play boundary to keep you from running into walls and TVs. The controller tracking is nearly flawless, the native sound emanating from the head set (sans headphones) is a great quality, and the display screen is absolutely gorgeous. Once you find the sweet spot on the adjustable head straps and eye lense adjustment, you’ll be gaming and exploring perfectly. If I have one minor gripe, I’d have preferred the ability in the Oculus software to enable multiple user profiles on the device, but I’m sure that could be easily remedied in future firmware updates. All in all, I am THRILLED to be a day one adopter of the Quest. In the great big scheme of things, this is THE system that one day we will look back on and point to as the moment when Virtual Reality truly went mainstream.

It took a while for it to become available, but once I purchased it Best Buy made it easy to pick up curbside. There was a line of vehicles but the staff outside was prompt, and super efficient. A+ for that service and keeping us all safe during COVID-19! I’m not a gamer so this is a new experience for me. The goggles were easy to set up, and pair with the oculus app. The graphics are amazing, and the free games that you can download to it give you a good starting game point to learn how to use the controllers. Do try out the tutorials, First Steps and First Contact are super fun! The headset is heavy, though -they could design an accessory to counter balance the weight (I’ve tried some that are available on Amazon but haven’t found one that I liked yet). The battery life Supposedly lasts about 2 hours or so, but I haven’t played longer than an hour to test that. Overall, a great experience so far!

Third VR gaming headset. Had been anticipating this VR headset for nearly a year. Love VR. Hate wires. While it is an all in one device, it is still awkward and heavy no matter how I try to adjust it on my head. I just don't use it as much as I would otherwise. Have used it for several types of games like Moss, Beat Saber, Arizona Sunshine, VR Gun Club and a couple of fishing games. Takes a while to load the games. Sometimes there are glitches and I have to restart the device. It happens more frequently than any other computer device I have that runs apps, and I have quite a few. That is a minor inconvenience. Most games run fine once it is up and running. Often hard to find a quit button for the apps though. Not having wires is great. The controllers feel very nice and are easy to use. Have not tried hand tracking. I have the PS VR as well. the little ball tipped controllers lag far behind the Oculus Quest controllers. The PS VR headset is far more comfortable. I think the Quest would be better having a separate unit that you wear on your belt that attached to the headset on the back, so the device would not be so heavy. It does ruin the experience because you are always aware of the headset as it is heavy and uncomfortable. Still, I am giving it four stars because it works as described, the materials are quality and the glitches are minor overall. As I played pong when it originally came out, where we have come with video games and the devices is pretty awesome. I would tell my friends to wait until the next gen device though, bordering on a buy recommendation.

Before purchasing this product, my experience with VR was about only 2 hours. But that is all it took. 2 hours of play with one beforehand was enough convincing for me to purchase one. I did my research and came to the conclusion that the Quest was going to best suit my needs. I did not want to stay plugged into a PC all day to play, and with all the tech being inside the headset, it was an easy choice to make. VR makes you feel like your there. The games are fun and have many available to choose from. The stand alone tech is pretty rad too. I've almost convinced my roommate to get one as well so we can play in different rooms together at the same time. Best purchase of the year so far. The resolution could be better, but tech is still advancing. Battery life could last a little longer as well. Overall, 9/10. Almost perfect.

I have the Oculus CV1 and HTC Vive. The Quest is far superior in the fact that it is untethered. The freedom to move, turn, and do so quickly without worrying about wire management, is a huge feature. I will never go back to a wired headset. Controller tracking is very smooth and accurate. Battery life is a little over two hours. Graphics at the time of release were best in the market. Some games do take a while to load, like Arizona Sunshine. I wish the controllers had rechargeable batteries instead of AA. The controller batteries need replacing rather quickly. The Virtual Desktop allows screen mirroring with any computer. I look forward to receiving my Oculus 2 in a month.

The Quest is possibly the biggest surprise to come in VR. It is a very effective wireless VR unit by itself, providing a number of experiences that you can take pretty much anywhere you want. Since it supports inside out tracking, you can use any arbitrary area or room as your play space. Don't use it outside though as it really isn't meant to be in the sunlight. The unit shines again when you connect a link cable to it and tether it to a PC as you can use it as a regular connected VR headset and take full advantage of the graphics card in your machine. Given the price tag, this is the best value in VR by far and I look forward to what the next revision of the quest will bring.

My first VR experience was with the Oculus a little more than a year ago for a couple of days but I ended up returning due to lack of time and dizziness, I decided to go back and try it again with the Oculus Quest - Best decision ever! First of all, the graphics are good enough, the upgrade in definition helps on the sharpness. The non-tethered experience is the best even with limited spaces, however, is better to have at least a free space of 10x10ish feet. Game library is not as good as the tethered experience but it is expected due to the earliness of the project, every day more and more games are being ported to quest and new games too. Overall a good experience, would recommend 10/10

The aspect of not having to use a PC really makes the Quest a great choice for beginners to VR, which shows as both my 14 year old and my 6 year old loved using and found a lot of ease with it. The only thing I would complain about is its somewhat short battery life (which is a nitpick to be honest), and the fact that it can be very uncomfortable to use and the adjustment process it a pain. If the headset isn’t place absolutely perfectly, you’ll lose fine focus on whatever you’re looking at which can get annoying at times. Other than that, it runs pretty smoothly, has a nice selection of games, and the controllers handle beautifully.

The Oculus Quest gives the wearer a great VR experience without worrying about tripping over cords or needing a gaming computer to play games. I found the Quest to be easy to use and the Touch Controllers became like second hands after a little practice. I had used inexpensive VR goggles with my phone inside before but that could not prepare me for the incredible immersive aspect of the Quest. It may not be on par with high end systems costing a couple of thousand dollars but you can’t easily take those with you to a friends house or on vacation . The Quest will bring VR to a new audience and should usher in a new era for this evolving technology.

I wanted to purchase a VR system (for a gift) without breaking the bank. I know most systems must be run through PCs or other devices, and if you're a hard core gamer, the difference would probably be noticeable to you. But for my purposes, this was perfect. I thought the VR experience was wonderful, graphics were amazing, and it was easy to set up. There were some comfort issues with how heavy the headset is, but from the one other VR system I had tried out, it wasn't any different. Everybody who was able to take a turn on it was delighted.

I have been following Oculus VR since their first kickstarter in 2012. Without a gaming PC, I've been on the sidelines, watching YouTube videos of the progress. The release of this untethered headset is the PERFECT entry point for anyone interested in VR. The content list grows weekly and becomes more impressive with every game release. This headset is comfortable, portable, and surprisingly powerful considering its Snapdragon processor. One round of the demos for Beat Saber or Space Pirate Trainer was enough to warrant the purchase. Don't hesitate on this one. It truly is the next big gaming tech.
