Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

Purchased after trying to go the PSVR route. Upgrade was tremendous. From tracking to the comfort of not have rubber sitting of top of your nose. Game selection is vast and high quality.

The Oculus Rift with Oculus Touch controllers is my favorite of all the VR systems I have purchased so far. I have the Samsung Gear VR, PlayStation VR, and HTC Vive and once I purchased a third camera the Rift has held my preference the most. However, every VR system has its pros and cons and the Oculus Rift might not be the best fit for your situation. Regardless of the system, they are all absolutely worth it. The Oculus feels like the most polished VR system and is the easiest to jump in and out of from player to player as the controllers naturally fit into the correct hands and all three adjustment straps are easily accessible. Plus the on-the-ear headphones are built onto the headset so it is all in one when changing players. The Oculus Touch controllers fit perfectly in your hands, are lightweight, and the touch response adds extra immersion. Oculus Home is just like it is on the Samsung Gear VR, so if you have tried that it will feel familiar, however they are separate stores. Oculus Home makes browsing and going between games simple and effective making it easy for beginners. There is a good selection of free material in the Oculus store, though I wish they had additional search/sorting features, such as price sorting or removing items that I already have installed. There are some great purchase titles as well, however, you are not limited to the Oculus store and have a huge selection of games and applications now compatible through Steam. Not all games in Steam VR are compatible with Oculus Rift, or they are room-scale to a point that the Rift can’t reach, but many of them are capable. This is the first generation of this style of VR and there is plenty of room for improvement. Some things I don’t like compared to the other systems are not necessarily something that would prevent me from recommending the Rift, just little quirks in comparison to the other major VR providers. The biggest issue I have is in order to have a full 360° room-scale experience a third camera is highly recommended. Without the third camera there are certain angles that the controllers may bug out causing issues in game if not just being pure frustrating. The third camera from Oculus comes with a 15ft USB extension cable which forces the USB port down to USB 2.0, the recommended port anyways. This also requires some fine tuning of the camera positions as they are limited in viewing angle and distance so you can’t get the large scale of the HTC Vive. The angles also end up limiting how high or low you can reach in your environment. The precise placement of the cameras, their short USB cables and the 4m length of the headset cable keep your room-scale play space kind of small, but capable. This also makes it a bit more difficult to move from one location to another, such as taking it over to a friend’s house as their spaces may not be capable of holding a camera in the needed locations. Plus, another nuisance is that when you run the room setup, you have to go through the whole process, controller instructions and all. Overall, I enjoy the Rift most at my house as I have the cameras fine-tuned and the controllers just make me feel even more immersed when I see hands moving the way they actually are, finger pointing and all. I can only imagine where this will take us in the near future.

when first thinking about the VR I thought would it fit my face very well, after thought of the rift, vive, and PSVR. knowing about all the different options the oculus standout on every aspect the development they put in to it after many good years of thought, and testing. the consumer version is the choice hands down. you can. and will want to VR for hour due to the feather light weight headset, I bought the headset at first went home hooked it up then went back the same day to get the touch and it was a world of difference like riding a bike with out its training wheels you feel as though you are there in your own oculus home. ill give it a 10 out of 10

What a unique and breathtaking experience... along with a long and frustrating setup. It took multiple tries setting up the sensors to get them to register right them the headset kept cutting out. It turned out that I had to adjust power settings to my usb ports (I didn't even know that that was a thing before this)... then learned that the headset doesn't play nice with hdmi or USB extensions so I had to move my whole computer top use this in the space I wanted. But now that it's there and set up and stable... Worth every frustration, all of the time, money on extra cabling, and headache. Even the free software (Google Earth, ISS mission, etc) make it worth it. I've barely scratched the surface of purchased content. So so cool!

Great mixture of a comfortable headset (compared to the vive), great graphics for what is possible in the VR space and by far the best controllers, this is the VR headset to get.

The Oculus Rift with touch controllers is awesome! Bought this when they decreased the price to $399 because it was too good a deal to pass up. I had used the Vive in the past and had a great experience with it, but when I started to use the Rift + the touch controller, it was a whole new world of VR... The controllers make a world of difference and really up the level of immersion in-game. I added a third sensor to ensure 360 degree play, but it still works great with two front-facing sensors [you just can't play the game completely facing away from the sensors as your body will obstruct the view of the controllers/headset].

I've not tried the others like some here but I'm way more than happy with this one. The view is amazing and couldn't be clearer as far as I'm concerned. There is a try out program in it and you're teetering on the edge of a building. It looks so real to the point where you can lean forward and look down over the edge. The view is awesome and a bit unsettling because you're so high up or seem to be. I'm really enjoying this thing. The Touch controllers make it even greater and all off them are easy to set up.

Loving it. Requires a HDMI connection on your computer fyi. Definitely demo in-store at Oculus display if you haven't already, bring your mom so she can to and if she likes it maybe she contribute to the cost lol. The Oculus Dreamdeck demo (available in-store) actually scared my mom but she loved Goat Simulator game (you can play this for free after you purchase the Oculus) of which she played for hours much to my dismay (I wanted to play☹) and surprise. I am wondering how to care for this foam pad which collects sweat... Don't forget to pick up your touch controllers bc they're a boost in fun with the Oculus by at least 150%!

For 399 the summer sale includes, the headset, touch controllers, 2 sensors, EVE valkarie, 7 other touch games. Definitely a great deal and a great price to get into VR.

The pro about it it's great graphics and lightweight. The con is if you ware glasses it is a pain putting it on. The lenses in the headset and your glasses fog up from time to time. That's is my only gripe.

I've been looking to get into VR for a little while now initially I was torn on oculus or PS VR. I ultimately decided to go with oculus because i tried demos of both and the oculus felt better on my face, and I like the controls for the oculus much better. plus with being on the PC you have much more freedom with the headset. Overall I think the oculus is fantastic. The downsides I would say is the selection of games right now are limited, but new stuff is coming out all the time. Also some of the video apps don't have crystal clear graphics. You still have that screen door effect but it is minor. I would recommend getting the touch controllers. They aren't essential but it really adds to the VR experience.

I reluctantly tried out the Oculus as we walked through Best Buy shopping for something else. My son had been wanting it for awhile; I had no experience with any VR device. I LOVED IT!!! We trialed several other systems and decided the Oculus was our first choice. We have had it more than a month and it doesn't get old. In the past when we have bought a new gaming system or a new game the thrill last for a week or two and is gone. With Oculus you "go" to different worlds. My wife and I love it as much as our kids. I would highly recommend moving into the next world of gaming, movies, travel, etc.

My son bought Rift and loves it. He says it's total immersion in the game. The only detractor is that it works only on Intel equipment. If you have AMD chips/motherboard, it won't work at all. He loves it.

The Oculus Rift is an amazing VR system that does a great job of placing you into the games or apps that you are using. It doesn't make you dizzy or sick and has a really good tutorial system to get you up and running. I do recommend a decent play space due to the movement requirement in some games. I also recommend the Touch controllers to really take advantage of the immersion . The graphics are good, some fuzziness but that depends on the video settings and graphic card you have.

The oculus rift is a well made, superb, and revolutionary gaming device that every hardcore gamer should eventually consider. I say eventually because although the oculus rift is an awesome accessory the lack of content out there just doesn't justify the purchase just quite yet. I have configured GTA to be playable however adjusting the settings every 15 minutes totally defeats the experience for me. Steam has a dedicated section for oculus rift games but I have yet to find one that engages my interest for more than one sit down. Awesome device however I'd hold out until more content from a big name video gaming company is released to truly make the experience and price justifiable.

You've read everything about the Oculus Rift. You don't really understand it until you've stepped inside. That being said, people with glasses can have issues. Look into 3rd party lens adapters if you want to get into VR. You'll scratch your glasses and the lenses of the rift if you don't.

I bought this simply to develop vr games, what I didn't expect, was a deeply immersive and compelling library of existing games for the rift. I played Eve Valkyrie, and let me tell you, you feel like you're actually piloting a space ship! Then, I tried minecraft windows 10 edition in vr and I honestly don't think I'll be able to play that game any other way from now on. I'm loving this as a gaming device and can't wait to produce some great experiences in the future!

I originally bought this for games, however, after buying a few games, I also downloaded a few educational free items. To be able to go to a museum in another country is incredible. You can even go into some of the pictures to be part of the art in a 360 experience. You will be amazed everyday buy the learning factor that will be brought to you as well as the fun gaming experiences.
