I own the original Oculus Rift as well. This is significantly better over the old Oculus Rift. The images look sharp and the on screen text are finally readable. The Oculus Rift S also gets rid of the sensors which is awesome because the tracking is great from almost all angles. The only thing I don't like are the hand grips, they feel more awkward than the old Oculus hand grips because the new handles are thicker and now my hands don't fit around them as well and I have trouble holding onto them sometimes. If I could have the old Oculus Rift hand grips married with the new Oculus Rift S headset I would be very happy for the $400 price tag.

Honestly bought this product because of all the reviews I read online about it. It's actually a very powerful VR headset for the price and if you have a descent gaming PC. I wouldn't could it the Oculus Rift 2 it's more of a v1.5. I love how innovated this new rift is when I said innovated I'm talking about how on the original Rift you needed to mount the sensor all over the room. This Rift VR headset does the opposite and has the cameras mounted on the device it self. I find this to be a big step up instead of installing sensors all over the room. The clarity has definitely improved over the original rift yet I feel it lacks dark levels.

It isn't the Valve Index, but that's not the kind of quality anyone is going for when they buy an entry-level VR headset. This headset works well, but it's moreso for the casual VR gamer. Anyone looking at high-level VR gaming or perhaps even working on creating VR games should consider a higher-tier option. The refresh rate isn't super high, but avid gamers shouldn't be too phased by that. My Ryzen 5 3600 and 2070 Super run VR with this headset like a dream, my system not even growing remotely loud when gaming with this headset. Not much else to say, controllers work well and setup is easy enough.

Runs most games good on a GTX 1060 and i5 6600K w/ 8gb RAM. Built-in audio is decent, but would recommend a pair of headphones to use with it. Setup is easy, controllers are super comfortable but they do burn through batteries kinda fast, so invest in some rechargeables.

Easy to configure and start using. Built in headphones and some nice updates make it a solid stand alone piece, but if you want to 'rock it' then add in your own headset for a truly immersive experience. Love the fact I don't have to put sensors around the room.

This WAS a great entry into VR gaming, but I dock two stars and emphasize was because a few months after I got it, I found out that support is going to be dropped for it in favor of the newer, cheaper, and more advanced Oculus Quest 2. I think it's pretty scummy that they would drop support for such a recent product that quickly. Also, I'm not thrilled about potentially requiring a Facebook account connection to take full advantage of the Oculus software.

Much better than a PSVR. Contrast could be a lot better, but acceptable. Not needing base stations is a definite plus. There's still fiddling to get everything working optimally, but it works great once everything is set up! Depending on your use, maybe the Oculus Quest might be a good alternative, but as a starter VR headset, this is miles ahead of PSVR or something you need to put your phone into. Highly recommended if you can afford it. At the moment, you don't need to log in to Facebook to use it. You can create an Oculus account separate (if that matters)

First thing I noticed... I can actually read the text in VR. I also have the Vive and the increase in clarity I definitely noticed, Almost no screen door effect. Minimal God rays. The lessened contrast with the LCD panel was not noticeable in 90% of my games. The built in speakers were weak but handy in a bind. You can add your own headphones. Setting up was much simpler than the Vive. Room scale tracking was on par with the Vive. Not bad of inside out tracking system. I actually brought the whole system on a trip with my gaming laptop (gtx 1060) in a backpack. Hows that for portability? As a proof of concept, I played room scale VR within the small confines of a cabin on a cruise ship. Yes, It's possible! Beat Saber and Arizona Sunshine on a moving cruise ship.... Check.

the product and quality were great the only combines I have is the cord and when you play games where your moving around (like pavlov) you get dizzy and motion sickness) thats more of a fault on all VR though not jusg the rift. I would also say that the customer expiernce at best buy when I went to return the unit because we didnt play it enough was possibly the worst that I've ever dealt with deffintly top 5 worst customer experience that I've ever dealt with. I would recommend the product to anyone but I would encourage everyone to buy from a different distributor.

It was everything I wanted and needed in a VR headset. I wasn't looking for the most technologically advanced device, or something to break the bank, but something that was simple and didn't require me setting up an entertainment center's worth of equipment without any of the entertainment equipment; just plug it in, download and install the program, and you're in. Problem is, within a month of getting the device, it started to break down. First, passthrough went out in one of the lenses. Then headtracking stopped working completely and was intermittent at best. Now, just under 5 months of owning the device, it is a glorified paperweight. I've been going back and forth with Oculus support for months and so far have gotten nowhere. I even bought the replacement warranty through best buy, but since they can't seem to get more headsets in stock, I can't use this warranty that I've needed to use almost immediately after purchasing the headset.

This headset has exceeded my expectations. The tracking works very well, display is crisp, and its by far the best bang for your VR buck at the moment. My only minor gripe is the speakers but there's still other options to remedy that.

Great price. But the install and knowing how to use your computer very important not user-friendly when there's issues with software. Had to reload repair and delete original files and then start all over. Support for this product absolutely horrible it's all online no one to talk to for help The internet had way better support I was able to find out what I need to do and then once I did it it's been an outstanding experience absolutely love it for the first time vr person.

Pros: -Does everything as advertised and more -Works well in small play areas -Headset comfortable -Field of view is wide enough not to feel like tunnel vision -Resolution provides no "screen door" effect -Excellent value for price -Installation is as easy as downloading Oculus on your PC Cons: -Controllers on the smaller side -Controller tracking works, but will cause hands to "drift" occasionally -Battery covers slip off in hands As stated above, this product has worked exceptionally well for me. I was originally concerned my play area would be too small considering it was just a small corner of my bedroom, but it still works very well. The headset is extremely comfortable with the halo style and can be worn for hours without discomfort. The field of view, though not quite as good as your eyes perephials, is still good. You can see black around the corners if you really try to look for it, but during gameplay, it's unnoticeable. It's like seeing your nose with your eyes. You can see it if you try to, but normally it goes unnoticed. The screen resolution by far exceeded my expectations based on reviews that I had read/watched. Though it does require a little adjusting on your face to find the sweet spot so that your vision is clear, you cannot see the individual pixels and there is no "screen door" effect. The hand controllers could be a little bigger in my opinion. Admittedly, I'm a tall person at almost 6'-6" (198 cm) so most things feel small in my hands, but it's almost too small to fit in my palms. I would assume anyone of average proportions would not have this issue. The controller tracking was very impressive at first, but once I started getting more used to game (Beat Saber in this case) the controllers started to drift. In a game where you do not need to have precise accuracy every second to perform well, this was a non-issue. A simple wrist rotation in front of your headset quickly resets the hand position. Lastly, with the battery covers on the controllers being magnetic, they tend to slide off during intense gameplay. This can easily be remedied by purchasing controller grips, which I would recommend anyways to prevent damage to the controllers if you accidentally hit something, Just made sure the "halo" portion of the controller isn't significantly covered up, otherwise it causes more tracking issues.

Headset is soooooooo comfortable. The visuals are vastly improved to the OG rift. The built in tracking is a game changer, and at 400 bucks you really get what you’re paying for here. I think this is the best experience you can get for this price on PC.

Since this is my first VR headset, I can't say too much and compare it to other headsets, but my first experience blew me away. Seems like a quality headset, but the only reason I took a star off was because I ended up having to start an RMA process with Oculus to fix a finicky Displayport/USB cable connection. Their support is OK, not the best, but not like anything like the horror stories that I've read. The Oculus Home software is pretty straight forward and with a functioning product, it provides a great VR experience!

We have used the first version of Oculus Rift , This is a huge upgrade. Not so much in the VR experience that is still great, but the initial setup doesn't require all the cameras around the room, and that makes this worth it. You will have a blast with this Headset.

Owned the Rift before selling to get the quest. Wanted a pc powered headset still so purchased the Rift s. After playing the quest for a few weeks, having a cord is really noticeable on the Rift S. While graphically everything looks great, the colors from and OLED to LCD screen seemed washed out on the rift s. Overall an average system- I don’t like the inside out tracking for the rift s- the old rift had better tracking but took up a lot of usb slots. Have to pick your poison.

The Oculus is superior to PS VR which was my only experience with VR before. I thought the price was reasonable since it is the latest model. It is very easy to use and put away because there are only 3 parts. The biggest part is your body adjusting to VR.

It is a great learning experience and amazing different programs available for this platform... I can spend hours exploring the Universe and earth in a completely new perspective for me... It has taught myself so much about dreams and just our every day viewing of how we see the world... It is so realistic and the resolution makes it an enjoyable experience.... I have had many experiences when viewing that I actually got a sense of motion sickness or feeling of vertigo from looking down as if I am thousands of feet high ...It is totally awesome to have a 360 degree view of what i am experiencing and viewing. .. It just the beginning of higher tech to come in other incredible experiences and learning... I have to admire the genius behind the development of VR and our computers... It is taking us out of this world and into to the depths of perception and knowledge...
