I bought this camera to take on a trip in Europe. Overall I was very happy. Ihave photographic background and felt the settings options worked well. I was a little worried because it was hard to see the screen in daylight and I wasn't sure how the photos looked. I came home with some great images. I had a few times where the auto focus was glitchy and didn't focus until I turned the camera off and back on. I carried it in the rain as well as canoeing on a river.

For the money, you can't beat this Tough little guy. Easy to use, waterproof out of the box and small enough to carry everywhere. Scene settings make it easy to take great pics wherever you are. Looking forward to adding the wide angle lens package.

I bought this camera for my family vacation. I was absolutely delighted by how easy it was to operate and the quality of the pictures. Camera has many neat features and effects to allow you to be creative. Also, the ability to take pictures underwater sets a whole new standard for vacation pics!!

    Worked great in the ocean

We bought this camera to capture family fun during water activities. So far we have tested it while swimming in the ocean with relatively active wave action along with kayaking in the salt marshes. We were not able to test the underwater shot quality due to cloudy water conditions. The camera passed the water integrity test with flying colors and we got great pictures. The only negative to the camera is the LCD viewing screen on the back. It is not robust and already has a fine network of scratches on it. This is simply from being immersed in waves containing salt and sand. (When dried off and not in use it is kept in a case.) We have always rinsed with clean, fresh water and allowed to thoroughly air dry prior to opening the charging door. When we needed pictures more quickly we used our phones with the image transfer function (although that interface could honestly use some work).

Best all weather compact camera I've seen

We use this mostly for shooting image in the pool and for bad weather shooting, I have had a Fuji in the past which got water in it and had to be replaced. I bought this one because it would shoot Raw images. The images are very good and the autofocus is quick. There is minimal shutter lag and several options for scene styles and it does aperture priority as well. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the latch on the battery/SD card door.(A VERY important part of a waterproof camera) It's a double latch but it's very small, placed on the bottom where you put your hand and its hard to tell if it is locked or not. On one occasion I almost got water in the camera because the second lock wan't locked and the first got moved by my finger. I wish they were better placed and tighter. Even though it is more expensive than most in this class, it is sturdy, well made, and, in my opinion, worth the $100 more than the rest.

I just purchased this camera and am loving every minute using it! I personally shoot dslr solely, but really needed something smaller. Bringing it to a water park next week and can't wait! It certainly eats up the battery, so I'll be getting a backup. Video seems great thus far. It's macro features are my favorite. Here are a couple photos from my trip to the zoo yesterday, straight out of camera. I do highly recommend a screen protector, it seems very likely to get scratched or damaged because the screen is so raised.

I must admit I am not a fan of point & shoot cameras. However, i was headed to vacation in Mexico with the family and was looking for something that could go with us everywhere...especially in the water. This camera met all my expectations and worked great. it is very fast, takes great pictures and was simple to use even for my 10 year old daughter. A great purchase for us!

I upgraded from a Panasonic DMC-TS3, which is several years old. This camera is better in several respects. First, the GPS locks on much faster. This may be because I updated and activated the aGPS files. It locked on in under 5 seconds. I was amazed. The Panasonic would take forever to lock on an sometimes fail. The accompanying Olympus iOS app works ok. It allows you to use bluetooth to transfer photos from the camera. While it does work, it's slow and I wouldn't recommend it if you are transferring a lot of photos. It's pretty good if you want to upload one or two photos for sharing. I took the camera to a pool and had no problems with the waterproof part. Just strapped it to my wrist and played with my kids in the water. Camera worked fine. Took some underwater pictures. The photos came out a bit on the bluish side. Haven't had a chance to test the shockproof part. Overall a pretty decent rugged camera.

I love the picture quality and the security of having a waterproof camera. I started kayaking this month and never took my ipod out of its protective case. I have used this camera the first time out. I love being able to capture pictures of nature on my trips.

I was looking for a camera that is able to withstand the rigors of this world and at first glance it appears that I found it. This is my first Olympus and I can safely say that I will not be disappointed. Olympus is the one of few camera companies that is not willing to compromise on quality and value. If you are looking for a waterproof camera with the capability to attach a telephoto or fish eye lens then you have found it.

I got this camera about 6 weeks ago from the data of this review. I have now taken in to the virgin islands and cozumel, mexico for plenty of underwater use and a couple thousand pictures. Pros - great picture quality, good battery life, good video and sound quality, waterproof Cons - exterior parts are not holding up well. For instance, the exterior symbols on the buttons are wearing out after only 6 weeks of use. Exterior glass for video screen has become discolored on certain parts, a light drop made significant scuffs on the exterior metal, Beach sand can get stuck in certain parts of the camera easily and is difficult to remove

I read many water proof camera reviews and chose this one due to most not being available at time of purchase. My boyfriend and I bought it for snorkeling in Cozumel and we haven't been able to get over how great this camera ended up being! Very easy to use but has many options and settings that we haven't mastered . I was really wanting to use it for taking videos and it worked perfectly! The lasted for hours too even taking short videos and photos . We charged it every night and we're able to use it all day! Love the design too. We've been taking to the pool and parties and everyone loves it. It's more expensive than others but you can definitely see why!

I owned the TG-2 for a long time and loved it. When it came time to replace it, the only choice that I had to make was red or black. I was definitely getting the newest Olympus. Year after year, the TG series of cameras from Olympus have gotten top marks, especially for their underwater performance. I live in Hawaii and snorkel almost every weekend. My friends and family across the country are amazed at the quality of photos that I've been taking and can't believe they're from a camera that cost about $350 and fits in my pocket. If mine broke tomorrow, and I didn't have a warranty on it, then I'd buy another just like it...without hesitation.

This was a Christmas gift from my Dad. He was very concerned it wouldn't really work underwater...What do you think? Does it work well underwater? I think the green turtle below answers that question. I use it a lot - four to five times a week, hiking, but mostly for underwater stills and video. I can easily get a full seven hours of snorkeling on one charge. You should totally get this camera.

I purchased this camera mainly for water use. But we now use it for all our photo taking. You don't have to worry about it breaking or getting wet. Takes great photos also. I recommend getting a floating wrist band also.

Bought this camera for a family trip to Moab, Utah. Wanted it because it is waterproof and shockproof. The videos of my family whitewater rafting down the Colorado came out excellent. The other photos taken with it exceeded all expectations.

Great quality pictures underwater, however after using it on a trip to the Bahamas and using it consistently for about 5 days underwater, the lcd screen began to fog up. This was the first time I used the camera. Looks like water may have gotten inside the screen and it fogs up. The fog went away but still afraid that it may get messed up with future uses... Too late to return or exchange..
