Customers are pleased with the OMEN by HP Desktop's design, performance, and fast boot times enabled by its solid state drive. Many appreciate the ample storage and the inclusion of a good graphics card. While some found the initial setup to involve removing pre-installed programs, the overall experience was positive. The size of the tower was noted by some as a potential drawback.

Great Gaming Rig

This PC blows every PC I've owned out of the water. The performance is outstanding. There's nothing I've thrown at this computer that it couldn't handle. I'm able to play every game I have on high settings. I've seen almost no hiccups at all.
AMD's Ryzen chips are absolutely stellar. The Ryzen 5 is supposed to be on part with an i5 but, to me I think it preforms way better.
One of the most impressive things about this machine is the boot time. The solid state drive makes this PC boot in seconds. Way faster than any machine I've ever had.
If you are looking for a solid gaming rig that doesn't cost $3000, this is the PC to get. The Ryzen chip is miles beyond anything AMD has ever made, the GPU will be able to handle anything you throw at it, and the solid state makes boot times and general use extremely fast. Would highly recommend.

This computer is a pretty desktop unit. While it bills itself as a gaming computer, I will use it primarily for business video and photo editing, with the occasional distraction of game time ;). The computer is quite heavy and bulky. Its insides are easily accessible for upgrades and cleaning which I thought was kind of cool. The setup only took a few minutes and then I was able to download my programs on to the machine. It has great beautiful graphcis (helped I am sure by my HD monitor - sold separately.) The machine was able to process one program quickly but if I had several things going at the same time it was a bit sluggish. Overall a good machine with tons of storage. Will work for personal gaming and business needs.The machine has several HDMI and USB ports to connect any devices like printers and cd players. It includes a wired keyboard and mouse. It does have an optical drive but it is kind of hidden.

1080 gaming box, better with upgrade, High 5 case

I already own one i7-4790k, GTX 970, 32 GB RAM, Full tower. I will try to be generic in this review but will bring certain comparisons.
Summary: This is a very good PC for 1080P gaming out of the box; if 1080P is what you are after; buy it. There is a DVD writer; Blu Ray would have been better; but I have one in my main PC and have never really used it over my Xbox.
This desktop has WIFI and when I tested, speedted.net reported 118 mbps, at same time my wired connection also reported 118 mbps; which is close to my mac limit.
Upgrade suggestion:
At least buy another 8 GB of RAM; it has three free RAM slots. That extra memory will help a lot. I probably would have given it another half star, if not for measly 8GB of ram. You can upgrade processor and even the SSD. One thing you cannot do though is add another card as there isn’t another slot for that.
Performance:
In regular desktop use; performance is good, not superfast; but very good nonetheless. Application launch are snappy, thanks to SSD. You may notice too much disk access initially but that is windows doing its indexing and other stuff.
Gaming performance: I think this GPU can do better with memory upgrade and perhaps CPU overclock. I did not dig it deeper but in all the test the score was lower than my main machine. Now GTX 970 is slightly below RX580 two differences being 32 Gigs of RAM vs 8 Gigs and processor is i4790k.
Unigine Benchmark
@1440 , 4AA Ultra DX11
4790k/GTX970/32GB: Score 1823, 43.6
HP Omen: Score 1680, FPS 40.1
@1080 , 4AA Ultra DX11
HP Omen: Score 2579, FPS 61.6
@1080 , High DX11 (No AA)
HP Omen: Score 3532, FPS 84.4
As evident, it is a good machine for 1080 gaming, can probably do better in 1440 but I do not think it is targeting that resolution.
There is on year of McAfee Subscription free with it; and there is also a lot of bloatware; which thankfully you can easily uninstall.
Form Factor and appearance and build quality:
It takes very little space, compare to a full tower case (CM Storm Stryker), this can fit under any PC table easily.
Build quality is very good:
I really liked the carbon texture and how the red glow bring the best out. You can lift the box; there is space on top to do that, if you go to LAN parties, it is easy to carry. Not extremely heavy, so another plus.
It can take two additional HDD/SSDs, the slots are there and are covered.
A beautiful case, and brilliant organization of space.
Undocumented specs:
SSD used is from Samsung MZ-VLW2560.
HDD is from Toshiba and the PSU is HP Bronze certified.
Side panel is solid black (Why HP Why?), I do not know why they have not provided a clear side panel. I know the motherboard is not fancy and there are not many lights, but at least give us the option.
Installed graphics card is 7”, and there is space for longer cards. I think it can go till 10, if you are wondering.
Cooling:
There is not much going on here, there is one front intake and one back exhaust. I recommend replacing the exhaust fan with a 120mm fan, as there are holes for that (it comes with a smaller fan 80mm I guess). I could not see holes for bigger fan, so you cannot go 140 or 200mm.
Wires are neatly packed and does not interfere or look bad.

There is a lot to love about this HP Omen PC.
I am getting a boot-to-password time of 15 seconds - I didn’t know that was even possible with Windows 10 - and that’s definitely thanks to having Windows installed on a 250 GB solid state drive - I don’t know why that isn’t standard on all PCs now - it’s the single biggest selling point for this PC. I thought that the 8 Gb of RAM would be a bottleneck - but everything is running smoothly so far.
I wasn’t initially sold on the AMD Radeon RX580 video card until I actually saw it in action - it’s a total beast! I’m driving a 65” HDTV and the video I’m seeing is so smooth that some of the animations have startled me. My games are loading quickly and run like a dream. I’m also loving how well Adobe Photoshop is responding on this machine.
The case is easy to open (no screws) - in case you want to add RAM.
The Windows installation only had a couple bloat-y programs (plus trials for Microsoft Office and for virus protection that I replaced with my own choices) - so setup was a breeze.
It runs almost silently!
The only really strange thing about this system is that HP decided to include a horrifically cheap USB keyboard and mouse in the package. This doesn’t seem like an entry-level system so it was odd to receive these horrible peripherals - surely gamers have their own preferred wireless devices already, right?

Monster Power For Your Dollar!

I first cannot say I am a daily gamer but I do play FPS and Racing games regularly. I have a full chair setup with ever Thrustmaster product you can buy and enjoy a good few hours a week running against friends.
The computer I purpose built 3 years ago was starting to show its age, I needed an upgrade. Enter the Omen by HP. The model I received is not the high end one they offer by any means but all I can say is WOW!
The speed, graphics, and consistent power is amazing out of the Omen. Instantly once setup, I noticed all my games worked better, smoother and looked amazing, even on my 65" 4K TV.
I enjoyed running a few benchmark tests between my 2 computers and the differences were amazing. The Omen passed for every game available to date for speed, graphics, and processing power. I purposely tried to over work the CPU in any way I could, even overclocking it by 20%, it never overheated and it kept on ticking.
I also tried out the graphics with my 3D CAD CAM software, it worked better than my work computer, and that was over $3k.
I am really impressed with the Omen series, I love it is easily upgradable, making this a computer that can easily last you 10 years until it just becomes outdated hardware.
Great job HP, you did Great!

Who ever knew that fast could be beautiful. This Omen by HP is not only a good looking machine it's undeniably fast. Upon first boot up and set up everything went faster than I would have ever expected. I have several solid state drive laptops and the time from box to loading my first program was hands down faster than any set up I have ever done. I played quite a few games in my time and with this PC I noticed no lag time and on my 55" LG High DEF LED tv graphics were really pooping out at me. I felt as if I was actually in the scene. Playing games on the internet was taken to a new level. I have Surface Pro that I use to do some online gaming and when compared to this monster I can never go back. With 300 Megabits of internet, speed this thing was was able to play games without any hiccups. So not only is this PC is loaded with tons of high end parts it looks beautiful. I will definitely be recommending this PC to all of my friends. The HP-Omen is well priced for what you get. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.
