The auto stand by function does not work very well. Specifically you must play the music at a moderate to high volume level otherwise the subwoofer will shut off. If you intend to use this speaker for background music or watching programs at modest volume levels it will shut off. This is very annoying needing to repeatedly keep increasing the volume level to turn on the speaker. If you subsequently reduce the volume level to a level you prefer the speaker would then shutoff after 5 to 10 minutes. This is very annoying and therefore I can't recommend this speaker.

This speaker fit into a tight space and combined with a centerline speaker gives great sound

After reading previous reviews and seeing the price, I decided to make the purchase. Comparing the others on display at the store, this was a good purchase! The only other worthy was the Bose obviously but for the $500 savings? No comparison. This really added life to my theatre system. i will admit that at certain levels it will start to distort but that can be adjusted in some cases. Well worth it.

After reviewing many powered subwoofers, I decided on the Onkyo - 10" 230W Powered Subwoofer. It has plenty of bass for our living room. I turned down the frequency and have not had any issues with the subwoofer going into power save mode. The bass is great sounding. Very good subwoofer for the money!

Easy set up and it brought my sound to life with my new receiver. You cant beat the sound for the price.

Good quality bass response. One can fine tune the bass through the sub woofer controls. It matches the Polk book shelf speakers I have paired with this unit. I am happy with my purchase and the quality of this product. I would rate it 4.5 stars.

Very strong performance for a great value, home surround sound

I wanted to try something new... I first got a Polk 10" powered sub I it sounds ok... But this onkyo sub sounds GREAT wish I had both of these... If your looking for a home sub get this one you will not regret it

We had an Onkyo sub-woofer that had a power surge and blew the transformer. Replaced with this one and am well pleased. Sounds great and works with existing surround sound system.

This subwoofer packs a good strong punch at 240 w for the reasonable price. Sounded like a whole new home theater system to me. Love it!

This is a great sub for the price point. I like the crossover setting and if you're having issues with the sub going into standby mode during quiet sections of movies, try turning down the volume on the back of the sub and turning up the gain on the input line. It works great for me.
