Working great. Produces great sound. I did have some trouble but Onkyo tech support was great and helped me get new firmware uploaded to the unit which fixed the problem.

This is my second Onkyo receiver purchased to power Definitive Technology BP10B tower speakers (up to 300 watts per channel). The sound is clear and strong with no distortion over the full range, and plenty of power without being anywhere near the max. Very happy with this, and my Onkyo 6 CD changer.

Paid $249 online (on sale). The system can supply 2 separate audio sources to two different locations at the same time (ex.TV home theater inside and FM Radio to speakers outside). Plenty of power for the Bose surround sound and the outdoor speakers. Was much easier to set up compared to my old Sony receiver. I have a game console and dvd player all routed into the the receiver then out to the TV and surround sound. The only downside is the receiver must be on to use the game console.

Wanted it for Xbox one X but doesn’t do the “right” HDR.
Still transfers 4k imagery beautifully, Dolby Atmos is great, but wanted a hdr receiver and this is not it.

I purchased this Onkyo TX NR656 receiver without ever hearing one beforehand and I gotta say, I am super impressed!!!! I originally wanted the Yamaha Advent-age RX A760bl, but I noticed the Onkyo had 100 RMS watts total vs Yamaha 75 RMS watts. Honestly, I had no idea what that equated to but after getting this Onkyo home, plugging up my Klipsch reference series surrounds and sub, it sounds greater than any system I've heard hands down. The volume max is 100 max and if you turn it up past 60 you risk shattering all the glass in the house it's so loud. 0 distortion. If you enter Best Buy in the market for a receiver and see one, by it in a hurry and run to your car!!! Haven't tried Dolby Atmos yet, but DTS X is a dream!!! Wireless connectivity has shown 0 issues to date.....Just stellar!!!

Super happy with my Onkyo TX-NR656 sound, outputs and price. Compared to similar receivers in the same price range, I was happy with the 2nd zone and features Onkyo offered. Had to call Onkyo tech support to help with setting up zone 2 since the manual is vague but it was super easy and received excellent customer service. Great receiver for the price.

I bought this to go with a 4k HDR TV. This --product has the most features for the money. I have always had good luck with Onkyo products. I also have the TX-NR757 in another room. I really can't tell the difference in sound or picture quality. Either model is an excellent choice.

I replaced a 11 yr old onkyo receiver because of the lack of hdmi connections. It still worked flawlessy when I retired it. This new nr-tx656 has everything I could possibly want in a ht system. Setup was easy. I am using this as a 5.1 system using 4 pioneer 8 inch ceiling speakers and onkyo center channel and subwoofer. Sounds great.
