Bought this as an open box item about 2 weeks ago. Excellent condition. This receiver is an excellent piece of equipment - far more advanced than any receiver I have ever owned. I upgraded to a 4k TV and "needed" to upgrade the receiver as well. Set up was a breeze. Up and running in no time. Only complaint would be the price. It was during Best Buy's open box sale. The receiver was marked as having an original price of $599.99. I purchased it for $300.00 after being told that half the original retail price was the best they could do. Now the regular price is listed as $399.99 and on sale currently for $349.99. I feel a bit mislead about the transaction, but the product itself is great and I would recommend it to anyone!!

This receiver is phenomenal! I am completely satisfied with the purchase. I have owned Sony, Kenwood, Dennon AVRs in the past and was hesitant to buy a new one. Originally I bought this AVR due to price and amount of inputs. The receiver exceeded my expectations to say the least. I can listen to music from either my home theater or my living room on the second floor with this unit. The Receiver itself has chromecast capability so if you are a Google Home owner this is a plus. Fantastic power, 2 sub preouts, Atmos capable, and 7.2 or 5.2 configurations, anything a medium to large home theater needs without breaking the bank. Save the bank for the speakers and let the TX-NR656 do the rest

I bought this unit because it has a built-in equalizer, which is rare for a unit in this price range. I read that Onkyo receivers run hot. This has not been an issue with this one. This is a great purchase.

So easy to get set up very good quality sound and the set up was easy. The switch was easy the direct Ethernet connect was a plus not bluetoothing Pandora, and the set up to use my Logitech remote was nice.

This replaced an older Onkyo receiver. Setup was very simple and the sound is fantastic. Remote control is intuitive and an Onkyo remote app is available so that I can control everything from my phone.

Lots of features to get used to, but once configured it works great. Settings can be a little overwhelming coming from a very old budget receiver. I had this shipped and was disappointed that it was shipped in the original packaging, no signature so it was just left out on the porch. Otherwise, very happy.

Fast to set it up. Easier with banana plugs and HDMI setup. I like the onscreen menu. Bluetooth correct although I tested it only once. I think I should now upgrade my old 5.1 speakers to get more of it.

Love it because it has 8 HDMI ports and enhanced my TV's picture.

This receiver works great for everything I need (a stack of old game consoles + modern items) . Whether you are using legacy connections like A/V cables, or composite video, you are covered. 7 HDMI connections is a step above other budget receivers. The on screen menu for the setup is quick and effective.

It sounds great pushes all my speakers and subs fine. Plus all the wifi and air play features are awesome! Worth buying !

No problems so far. Easy set-up. I like the fact that I can stream music from my hard drive to my receiver. Also like the wifi feature that enables me to listen to music stations from around the world.

Onkyo surround receiver works well. It has plenty of HDMI inputs. Second hdmi output is nice to run 2 tv’s at once. Only issue was sound wasn’t very loud and the setting for the smart sound needed changed, after that it worked perfectly.

This unit has great sound. Hookup is very easy and all the connections are labeled and most are even programmable!

This is my first receiver and easy to setup and works great

I needed to upgrade the receiver in my system to meet the needs of a recently added UHD TV. The receiver was easy to set up and was running in no time. Great sound quality, lots of flexibility.

So far, this is awesome. Sounds great, Everything was very easy to plug and play. Need to look more into the different sound modes, and looking forward to double amping my new Klipsch Towers!

Bought this for my home theater and it works great. Sounds great and has lots of features. You can send video to two TVs at the same time. Great for switching between a TV and a Projector

I don't think enough can be said about how great the remote is. Onkyo has really made the remote super easy to work. As for the receiver the sound is incredible. I have very thirsty klipsch front and sub and Martin Logan center and thirty have never sounded better. I loved the microphone set up it balanced everything pretty well just a few minor tweaks by me. Movies sound clear and the surround is amazing. Music for the first time in years sounds full and crisp. This receiver has so many different music settings I found one that I loved and I have had three previous receivers that made my music sound flat. You will not find a better sounding receiver for the money.
