Purchased the Onkyo 656 receiver to connect to a recently purchased 4K TV. I wanted to use a receiver that would allow me to take advantage of the quality and features of the new TV. I have my cable TV and bluray player running through the receiver prior to being sent to the TV. The video quality and sound output are both excellent. The receiver will, if selected, upscale the bluray to 4K "quality", and the audio allows all the current digital formats, that I know of, to be sent to the speakers flawlessly. One of the reasons I selected this receiver was the number of inputs that it has. No matter if your connected equipment is current or a little "old school" it has inputs for it. Yes, even a left/right for a stereo turntable. If you look at some of the other receivers in this price range, and even some more expensive, most of them are limited to the newest type of inputs, specifically HDMI. If also has ample power to listen at whatever volume you prefer. There are numerous internal settings that give this receiver the flexibility for just about whatever you have to run through it. I've used the unit for about 3 months and continue to be extremely pleased with its performance.

Great receiver for an excellent price. The on-screen interface is VERY easy to use! Plenty of wattage and a great picture!

Was very pleased with the ease of set-up. The price was good. The versatility of this receiver is exceeds all my expectations. My Denon just died and it only lasted 2 years. This is my second Onkyo receiver. The first one still works but is outdated. This unit is worth the 450 bucks and you get plenty of connections for everything you need.

Comes with bluetooth and a nice GUI to setup the sound and all the options and very easy step by step guide and so many hdmi and other useful ports on the back its perfect for anyone to update their home theatre sound experience. The power of the outputs work amazingly better than my old received with my Bose Acoustimax series speakers.

Very good receiver with room for growth. It does everything it says it will. Its my second Onkyo receiver and the first one still works and works and works great! I just needed some HDMI ports. I don't know if this one will transmit Bluetooth to your wireless Bluetooth headset. Let me know if anyone figures it out and how to do it.

works great, using this for my 7.1 sound system. it was advertised as 7.2 but doesnt support 7.2. It does 5.1.2 though.

Bought it at an amazing price of $250 and it's worth every penny. With a great separation through the 7 channels, Onkyo sounded perfect with great clarity and thump effects. Suitable for watching cinema than listening to music. It supported even FLAC through the USB port. Highly recommended at any price below $300

This is my second Onkyo receiver to purchase. The downside is they do not have a published API for 3rd party control.

I was seeking a unit with clear audio performance to replace the distorted audio from the TV speakers. Plus I wanted to provide direct connection from HDMI devices through the amp to the TV. This unit provides that, and also the ability to sense the source video and to switch to the source has greatly simplified our viewing.

This went in my bedroom. Yes I have killer surround system in my bedroom. What I love is it's ability to be turned on the same time as my TV using my TV remote it controls the sound of the reciever. So I don't need to turn it on separately to have surround sound..

Glitchy had to reset to factory default already after initial setup as TV would not detect HDMI, after second setup it so far has been great.

Onkyo is my goto receiver for all my installs...they make a great product that is user friendly with a great app.

Excellent, easy to install and great performance! I had a Yamaha system which was very complicated for the children but with this new one everything is much more easy for the family especially when changing between TV , stream box, DVD and even for me when setting the sound in the second room. Works great for my family.
