Getting back into vinyl and not wanting to spend lots of $$$ on a full system. This unit has a phone jack and ground for older turntables plus a built-in amp plus is internet capable. My older SL-DL1 sounds pretty good. Direct sound field is strong and drive my pair of Klipsch effortlessly. Good purchase with a little headroom to grow. The iOS app is handy and works well

On paper this receiver is fantastic but I've had a few issues with audio cutting out while watching, with the sub "popping" every 5 minutes or so when media is paused. Also, critically, the receiver needs to go up to 50% volume to begin being loud in a small room. Onkyo support hasn't been helpful or very forward so I don't know if I have a dud or if this receiver is just not that great. Get it on sale but that's about it.

We have had the Onkyo for a bit over a year. We have it set up with rear and overhead speakers in our home theater. Overall very happy with the sound and connectivity. Expected Chromecast to function but found it is only audio Chromecast. Other than that it performs as expected.

Upgraded my older onkyo 7.2 just for bluetooth capability. Can not beat that price, good Bluetooth range.

It's only been a few weeks, but so far we're pleased with this new addition to our home theater. Some of the setup is a bit complicated and upgrading the firmware was a pain, but we've managed to figure it all out. The sound is great and overall it's been a nice upgrade from an old Yamaha.

Feature-rich unit; still exploring all of the nuances and tricks. Overall fantastic sound, although factory presets for bass are a little weak. A little tweaking took care of that. Especially like the Chromecast built in; casting is a breeze! Pricing was excellent; feel like I got a real value.

Quality product. Synchronized itself with my Roku,Tivo,Dvd,Cd and speakers. Several choices for sound. Paired with Mirage tower speakers and its beyond my expectations. Fit and finish is high quality. Its heavy. Used daily for about two years never a problem.

Had trouble with my old Onkyos but this one seems to be doing well. Bought it for BT streaming and seems to be working good so far.

The system set was very easy. Speaker configuration option seem future proof. I use this system as my AV command post, attaching all video and audio components to it. And my new LG OLED tv. I even has a turntable and a reel to reel player working with this AV system. Yes I have some olde school audio equipment and it all works, looks and sounds great.

Needed a good tuner that supports 7:1 and has phono amp built in and could not be happier! Setup was a breeze and the Onkyo home theater speaker system I got was perfect match for this tuner. Excellent buy and excellent price. Picking it up at my local Best Buy the same day was a nice bonus too.

Device is good for an entry level 4k AV Receiver. It is not that hard to hook up and use even for a non savvy AV person. The one complaint I have is that even though the receiver has a sleep timer, you can not set it to automatically shut off every night, you have to set the timer every day. My 15 year old receiver had that sleep timer capability.

Excellent receiver with all the options. Very nice to have hdmi switching option & lots of hdmi ports!!

We were looking for a reasonably priced receiver that still had good quality. This unit came recommended to us by a friend who works in the audio business. We have been very pleased with the receiver so far, and can't see any reason why we would need more than this. It is a great receiver for the price.

This is my first Onkyo receiver and I like it so far. Great features for the price. I just wish the display panels were larger.

Everything runs thru the receiver with no issues and running Polk audio sub and speakers no problem

I have this receiver hooked up to five in wall speakers and it sounds great. I'm replacing a Yamaha receiver because I needed 4K capability for 4K Blu-ray. I have to say the sound is noticeably better and I really liked the set up options

Currently I have this set up with 5.1 surround. I have to purchase another set of speakers for the 7.1. But having this connected to my Google Home set up is just Outstanding. I listen to music with clarity. And channeling all my video into this is just GREAT. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I went from a Yamaha 477 to this onkyo 656 and I am BEYOND pleased. It costs less and it's twice the power. Not bashing Yamaha by any means. Yamaha is great but I should have hopped on the onkyo train months ago. Long story short, I love it,The atmos feature is great and the price is right.
