I replaced an older non-hdmi receiver, and this is by far a much better sounding unit, with plenty of state of the art features

i original bought the Sony 7.1 for $199 but immediately returned it less than 24 hours later. I am very pleased with this purchase. It includes Apple airplay via Bluetooth to stream music from my phone. It has an available app that you can control receiver with from your smartphone which is very helpful if you receiver is in a closet or behind a cabinet. 2 audio zones makes it very nice to have tv playing in living room and second audio of my choice playing on the patio. Would highly recommend!

I bought this receiver to replace an old Harmon Kardon that was starting to have issues. This is my second Onkyo receiver and I have not been disappointed with the brand yet. I liked the fact that it had more HDMI inputs than many other receivers along with analog inputs and Dolby Atmos was a must. I have only had it a few weeks now and there are options I haven't even begun to use yet but it has great sound. My only complaint is that it is only capable of hooking up to two Dolby Atmos add on speakers. That will probably cause me to upgrade again and this one will get used in another room.

We bought this to replace a Yamaha receiver that started acting up. We’ve had this for little over a month and love it!! It improved our picture quality and sound! It has lots of great features! I love that my boys can play video games and I can listen to radio! I have yet to set up a second zone. That will be another great feature! Bought this full price and it went on sale a few weeks later but Best Buy’s has great customer service and reimbursed me for the sale difference.

Purchased this Onkyo receiver first. Was pleased with this product but since I am an audio nut and love good sound and the latest features, I decided to try the other top name brands in the same price range to see what they offered. Tried 2 other top of the line receivers but the Onkyo was superior in sound and features. I have some high frequency hearing loss. The Onkyo also has an equalizer which you can custom set and save multiple profiles. I use one for music and have another set for tv. This eq feature that none of the others have helps with my high frequency hearing loss. The Onkyo also has on screen Bass, Treble and sub level that will stay on the screen all the time if desired for quick adjustments of bass etc. In the end, I went back to the Onkyo. With the eq function it delivers much better highs than the other brands, and who else but Best Buy will let you bring multiple units back until you are satisfied with the purchase. That's why I only buy electronics from Best Buy not to mention the good prices. Don't hesitate or waste your time on the other brands, buy the Onkyo.

I purchased this receiver as I have had 2 other from ONKYO, my last was purchased about 10 years ago and still works fantastic but only had 2 hdmi ports and didnt have upgraded software like BT, Chromecast, wifi, 8 HDMI including 1 in the front and much much more. For the price of 250 on black friday it was a STEAL considering i payed over 500 for my last receiver.

Needed to merge old equipment (yes, I still have a couple RCA cables I need to plug in) with several HDMI devices. This receiver had more than enough inputs to handle the job! Couple that with lots of power, a good price, and a full complement of features and it all adds up to a win! Great receiver!!

I replaced my old receiver with this receiver looking at its reviews and found it is a truly amazing product.Easy setup and lots of features. Bluetooth connectivity, AM/FM, Can connect to Pandora, Spotify, and other music stations. It has a build-in chromecast for audio not sure why it has kept it when you can connect your device to Bluetooth. It can control your speaker in other room also. Apart sound quality is superb.

I bought it to replace my 14yr older Onkyo. Although the older one was still working, this one has all the latest and greatest options...And it filled a void for extra options such as sound quality and all the great thing this Onkyo Receiver offers. It works just as the video on Onkyo's website stated and better then the reviews I read.

I am no audiophile, so I can't speak to how this sounds compared to high-end receivers, but this has been a great addition to my entertainment center. With the calibration option it makes my old speakers sound really good. It has enough power that I can turn it up and listen to music anywhere in my house. The ability to connect to it with the Onkyo remote app, to turn it on, change the volume and inputs, and stream from my phone or computers gives my listening experience a whole new dimension. I contemplated getting a sound bar instead of this receiver because they seemed so convenient, but since I already had the surround sound speakers I went this route and I wasn't disappointed. My setup sounds better than any sound bar, and with the streaming features and all the HDMI inputs it really makes it a much better experience than any sound bar would have. I highly recommend it if you are looking for an entry-mid-level receiver.

Purchased this right after Christmas as last year's model AND and open box so I got a crazy good deal on it. I have my satellite TV, Apple TV, Blue-Ray DVD and old VCR all going into this unit. Still have room for more HDMI inputs. My favorite feature is that when my non-tech wife wants to watch TV, she doesn't have to turn on this receiver. It's smart enough to let the HDMI signals feed through the receiver to the TV even when it's not turned on. The sound is VERY clean. I upgraded from an old Kenwood 5.1 that served me well for years but was dying. The room balancing feature is helpful but may need tweaking to personal taste. Also LOVE the bluetooth feature. Connectivity is strong and I can move around the house with my phone on my hip and it doesn't disconnect. I'm not using it to the fullest capabilities, yet, but will add more speakers as I can afford them to complete the full effect.

The sound on this stereo is very good and clean. Lots of power. The Spotify connect feature works really well. All the controls are easy to use. My one complaint is that it has a screen saver which is not very attractive, and I wish there was a way to just turn it off.

I went to Best Buy with the idea of purchasing an LG OLED TV. I did that, then saw this receiver for $249. That made it a no brainer to buy. The set up was easy as I have a 5.1 speaker system and that is the default mode for this receiver. The decoding modes are easy to set. I was totally satisfied with the volume of all the speakers at their default settings so no need to change them.

The sound quality is excellent. It has many options to allow settings for each type of program from digital surround for movies to stereo for radio. The set up using the microphone was unique and improved the sound quality for our TV viewing. It also has the 2 optical inputs i wanted for connections to our DVD player and cablebox. My only concern was using the optical output connection from the TV to the Onkyo receiver. When the cable box is set for a "digital device" no sound comes out of the receiver. You must use the HDMI setting for the cablebox to use this setup. I've always thought, perhaps mistakenly, that the optical output was the best. I avoided the HDMI issue on the cablebox by using one optical input for the cablebox (shown as "TV") and the second one for the DVD player (shown as CD). The controller makes it easy to move from one source to another with the push of a button.
