This is a replacement for an older amplifier. Upgraded for bluetooth and direct streaming. bonus for better hdmi.
Setup, having a microphone analyze the frequencies of the room, great. Seems slightly strong on the bass for TV, otherwise excellent. Don't use anywhere near all the features. Pandora works great.

I love this receiver. It's packed full of features and onkyo continuously provides updates. It is very easy to set up. I wanted something that supported Dolby Atmos and at $249 it was a steal!

So far so good, replaced a working Denon AVR 585. Wanted HDMI connections and of course an updated model. Love the on screen settings, makes it easier than looking at receiver front for configuration. My audio equipment is hidden so it was a hassle. Onkyo app is great and 2nd zone is just what I needed. Got a great Black Friday sale deal to top it off.

My high end Denon blew after a power surge. Purchased this Onkyo as a black Friday special. Clear noiselesd sound for music. Not as loud as the Demon but strong enough for my mid sized room. Better than Demon for 4k UHD movie soundtracks and effects
Nice networking functions. Video pass through strong.

Excellent entry level receiver without the price of the higher end receivers. It includes great connectivity and a second DAC for zone B speakers that was an important feature for me for patio speakers. This allows me to use digital sources on Zone B such as airplay and bluetooth.
Be warned the Zone B DAC only works with NET sources

I'm coming from an older Onkyo 2 zone surround sound amp and they just keep getting better! These have a super simple setup and power to spare for whole house audio on the second zone. Seamless Bluetooth and Air play.

I will start by saying I purchased this receiver to replace a "similar" Yamaha receiver that was only 3.5 years old because zone 1 / the main zone stopped working. Prior to replacing my receiver with this one I was thinking about replacing the ceiling speakers as well. It anymore. This receiver sounds AWESOME, no joke. The power is so clean. The iPhone app works very well for zone 2 as well which is what I use for my pool speakers. I use the iPhone app for zone 2 volume and to select inputs outside. Great receiver. Pretty good price.

I bought to replace an older amp and this was on sale and had a lot of great features for the price. After hooking up, love the blue tooth( and built in apps), the assistant for setting up speaker volumes, and the 2nd zone so I could hook up to my speakers in the garage.

I currently own a mix of both Denon and Onkyo receivers currently. I purchased the Onkyo TX-NR646 to be used in a bedroom. The receiver was very easy to setup and works perfectly sending HDMI signals from my DirecTV receiver and Roku (both in a Middle Atlantic rack in a closet) to my Sharp TV. I play the audio thru M&K speakers and a Polk subwoofer.
The automatic calibration was effortless and has delivered great results. We also use AirPlay throughout our house and the Onkyo receiver does a great job handling this function for the bedroom. Overall after a few weeks of ownership, I am very pleased with the Onkyo in every way.

I was trying to avoid spending a fortune upgrading to a 4k receiver. It came down to this or the pioneer elite. I bought this because it has the upscaling for 4k that the elite doesn't. So far it has met and exceeded what I expected. And a great price point.

I am very happy to get this Onkyo 7.2 receiver since I have been looking for a Dolby Atmos capable to match my Oled 4K TV and 4K player. This delivers an intense surround sound which I got at a fraction of the cost from Best Buy via their eBay store.

Encouraging start - the sale price this is available at brings a pretty incredible feature set that is otherwise unobtainable. For the same price as this, the only alternatives were 'home theater in a box' style receivers with just a few digital inputs and barely anything else. This is definitely an upper midrange receiver based on connectivity and options.
My only concern is Onkyos history with regards to QC which has definitely affected some users of this model. It's a risk I took, but it's paid off so far and I'm generally happy. The only options I wish I had were more extensive multizone features as the cut down versions of receivers <$1,000 is lacking, but that's what you pay extra money for. To have any secondary monitoring/zones for $250 is impressive. Good work!

Very good cost effective unit ,does what it says, volume issue mentioned in other reviews are true just have turn it past 60 to get listenable sound, still at that crank it up more rocks out the house ,more a mind issue than a problem works well.
