Got the DX-C390 to replace an identical CD changer that failed after about 25 years. I'm glad they atill make something that works with my old school amplifier (also Onkyo). This new unit works flawlessly with one glaring exception: when using the Random playback mode, tracks do not run to completion before jumping to the next randomly selected track. Only the first X minutes of each track plays before making the switch. Since the vast majority of my CDs consist of longer tracks, this issue renders Random mode unusable for me. Had to knock a star off becuase of this firmware bug. (I'd be curious if others experience the same thing, or whether my unit is defective.)

Works well. good sound. However, it has a low tolerance of any blemishes on CDs. It will skip if there's the slightest smudge or surface scratch. Other players I've had dont have a problem with skipping m I cleaned the CDs and compounded out slight scratches as best I could, but to no avail. I called Onkyo to see if maybe the machine is defective. He said it's a common complaint due to the high sensitivity of the laser reader lens. They designed it that way to increase fidelity. I.e. live with it.

So far this works great. I still have 300 or so cd’s and this Onkyo is the only one I could find that is a multi cd changer. Works great with my Marantz receiver.

After 6 months of using, I can say that I only see one flaw with this player: it's oversampling isn't great, so it is very sensitive to vibration skipping. I wish I could offer how well it integrates with non-Onkyo receivers, but my receiver is an Onkyo, so, of course, it works perfectly with it. The carousel moves very quickly from one disc to another during both regular play & shuffle -- very little lag between songs which is great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

If you still have CD’s this is great. I like the random feature. And the fact it can hold 6 CD’s at a time.

This was a gift to my mother to replace the original dinosaur. There aren’t many around, but she is very pleased to have her working 6-disc cd player again!!

Good sound, when it decides to actually play a CD. I have to advance to either previous or next CD and scroll to end of song list, then maybe it will work. I go back to CD slot I wanted to play and it just sits...then it will play, maybe...also, very skippy if you walk close, the vibrations from the floor cause CD to skip. For this price you would think it would play CDs immediately and have some RAM to prevent skipping...

Works great & has 6 positions for CD's so listening to music for hours without changing!

Responsive, good sound quality. I love putting in a long soundtrack and letting it play throughout my day.

Love this cd player I just load it up and have music outside all day long. Very easy to use.
