Bought this to replace my old 5.1 channel. Works great. They changed the place of the connectors on the back for each speaker. Made the remote very easy to change between inputs. They even have an optical cable for the brewer TVs. They have a microphone plug in for set up which makes it idiot proof to set up your speakers and their positions. Also, really great price.

Really great receiver, especially for the price! Easy to hook up, great sound, absolutely no complaints. We installed in our master bedroom (about 700 sq.ft.) and it’s got plenty of power. Pass through is great when I watch the news, really don’t need amp on. Have had a couple of other Onkyo receivers in the past and always liked them but this is a steal!

I'm an Onkyo fan and have always had Onkyo receivers. This time I decided to purchase a Denon receiver because of the ratings and a couple of new features that intrigued me. I got it home and when erecting the wi-fi antenna the entire antenna broke off. Well it was back to Best Buy to return it and I got the tried & true Onkyo. It's set up was easy and it works like a dream.

Let me begin by saying the price alone for the receiver was awesome! I replaced my old Onkyo that wasn’t Bluetooth, and no WiFi capability along with no HDMI connection, with this unit. Connection was a little tricky but if I can do it I’m sure any novice can. And finally sound. Let’s just say for $250 you cannot do better. I’m more than satisfied!

Using with Def Tech BP 5.1 speakers the amp is solid, great connectivity all stable. Great sound for a really good deal for an open box sub $300 price point. Have Yamaha, Denon and Pioneer. This is definitely better sound than the Dennon with the same speaker set at the same price point. Gave it one start less when comparing to true HIFI high priced systems at this price point its 5 stars.

Rarely do I feel the need to post a review, but this receiver has to be complimented. I bought this receiver to replace an older Onkyo model (HT-R580) that was part of a HTIB package. The older receiver still works if I may add. I wanted to upgrade due to the creation of different audio codecs throughout the years and quite honestly all the talk about noticeable difference in sound quality with the latest receivers had me curious.
I bought this receiver due to the fact that I was on a budget and I couldn't see myself paying over $1,000 for a receiver. I also decided to stay with the Onkyo brand due to the fact that my old HTIB has been super reliable, so why not stick with the brand!? I saw this receiver on sale for $249.99 so I figured why not take a chance.
I stayed with original HTIB speakers, invested in some 4K HDMI cables that I found on Amazon from a company called iVanky, went through the set up process with the mic calibration, connected the PS4 and a basic 4K Blu-ray player and all I can say is WOW!!! The picture looks sharp and the sound is out of this world. I have been thinking as of late... if things sound this great with HTIB speakers what would it sound like if I was to actually upgraded the speakers.

I have been a believer in Onkyo receivers for many years. I think they are an excellent value. Lots of power; feature rich and priced extremely well. I was looking for a receiver that was Sonos-ready and had already installed 2 new Onkyo receivers connected to my Sonos system. This was my 3rd and last one that completed my whole house music system. Works great.

This receiver takes HDMI inputs which I wanted. A little disappointed that I can't really use the Zone 2 to power a second receiver because the receiver will not convert digital audio signals to 2 channel output. I understand that this is common in all but the more expensive receivers. But, I purchased a floor model and it works fine.

I was looking for a 7.2 A/V receiver with lots of HDMI inputs and this one has everything. It is ARC compatible and works with our TV.
Some functions like controlling the volume from a single remote were challenging. We ended up using a TiVo remote and were able to code all functions either through the TV or the A/V receiver, with the only thing not possible through the TiVo remote being the selection of inputs. Other than that, everything including channel changes and volume can be done through a single TiVo remote. To change inputs we have to use the Onkyo remote or the buttons on the front of the unit. Not a perfect solution, but Onkyo does not allow cycling through input options. You have to specify the input desired.
Everything else about the receiver is solid. The sound setup using the provided microphone to balance speakers was easy. I'm quite satisfied with the purchase!

This is my second Onkyo receiver. The original lasted for easily 10 years (probably more but I have no concept of time). After you hook up all of the wires the receiver led me through the setup. Almost idiot proof! I really enjoyed the microphone that you sit in your spot and it adjusts the sound to your location in the room.

Way more than I needed but very happy that I got it. Surround sound is amazing and the second zone for the porch is great. Set up is easy and the interface is great. I highly recommend using the app on your phone. I wasn’t aware of it but it turned out to be better than the remote and the only way I could get zone 2 to work. If it wasn’t for that, I would give five stars.

I purchased this with the thought that I would upgrade my A/V system at some point, which I recently did. This receiver has plenty of power for my new ELAC towers, center channel and Velodyne subwoofer. It handles bluetooth, so I can play my iTunes library from my phone.

Owned an older Onkyo receiver and it worked fine, but as technology has improved my old one could no longer keep up. Rather than continue to do work arounds, I bought this receiver.
It has more than fit my objective and I am very impressed with the power, and all the features that it has. So far it has worked great.

I had the previous model, the one thats 10 years old. I could never get the Audio Return feature to work. As soon as i connected this one, it worked. the 4k worked and also the hrd, it works. There's a million features that ill probably never use. The one feature im having problems with is the pass-through feature. Sometimes itll turn on the Receiver and sometimes it doesn't. I could probably live without it and as soon as i can figure out how to turn it off, i will do that. I consider this one a basic model because it has all i need, but none of the ones i want, l like extra connections, but highly recommend.
