Picked this up for a fairly decent price and have been using it for a while and while the hardware is exactly what I was looking for and good quality the software running it is trash. Trying to do even the simplest thing with this receiver is an ordeal and it regularly just changes half of your settings and you have to redo them again. Unless you like dealing with constant troubleshooting then I would recommend something else, unless that something else is a Sony.

Great sound and features and this price point. Running a 7.2.2 and it has everything and more than I was looking for in a new receiver. Still tweaking some settings, but no downsides yet.

I was apprehensive about buying this receiver. I’ve had onkyo in the past and they make a great receiver however my ears have become accustomed to denon amps. Replaced an older denon with this for the 9.2 channel atmos capability. The old denon sounded great with my klipsch setup already and I’m happy to report that after some tuning and tweaking, this receiver sounds equally as great both in music and movies. I will also add that the video processing really improved the quality of my projection setup.

Great receiver with all of the bells and whistles but I have a 7.2.4 setup so I needed a 11 channel instead of the 7. Really hated taking it back

This is a great receiver and has the power for all 9 of my speakers. I had an outside company hook all of my components for my media room. I bought a 787 but it have problems and I had to bring it back. They didn’t have another 787 so I upgraded to the 797

Love this reciever with Bluetooth. Plenty of sound for my barn paired with my 7.1 cambridge soundworks speakers and 1000w active sub. The Bluetooth sometimes needs a reset if I’m pairing it with my apple phone that was paired to a different device before this one but other than that no issues.

Great sound, lots of connections, ARC works great! easy connections and device recognition.

I love it. I want to take it to Vegas and marry it. Great sound and easy to set up.

Easy setup, I have all Klipsch speakers 11 Total, I have it set up as 5.4.2 Wow!!!

I own many products from Onkyo, I read many reviews about receivers get shut down due to heat.This monster has a fan inside will turn on when there is heat inside . Till today i have no problemwith shut down and the receiver is warm but no hot but they added the fan feature just because they read and follow the customers reviews.

This receiver is easy to setup and sounds amazing. more features than I can list.

Good sound quality... was very easy and convenient to use

Purchased this to replace a Samsung surround system that was 10 years old. Big difference in quality with the new speakers that I purchased. Has true surround that the Samsung did not have. I have it as a 5.1 system now. Movies are so much better. I purchased this system because in the future I can make it a 7.1 system or all the way up to 9.2 surround.

Extremely easy setup, sound quality very good, and extremely easy to use

I love this receiver. the sound is nice no issues for now....only a little disappointed at onkyo going under and transferring to 11 trading company i hope bestbuy honor my extended warranty . I can't recommend onkyo as the company is gone and info is sketchy.
