This 2003 (2 hr. 19 min.) western stars and is directed by Kevin Costner. The cattle boss (Spearman) played by Robert Duvall hires Charley (Costner) a Civil War veteran and 2 other men to drive a herd of cattle across the open range, but comes into conflict with a town's cattle baron, who hates open rangers and from that is where the plot and major conflicts revolve. Good cast, action and script with a fairly high rating from the critics. This film is on many best western fan lists.

I was surprized how many of my fellow western fans have not seen this great film. It could have been done with John Wayne in his peak. Directed by and starring Kevin Costner, this is his best work since dances with wolves in my opinion. Robert Duvall and Annette Benning provide superve supporting roles. The story is classic with a compelling love story.

I cannot believe I had never heard of this movie before seeing it. It is a film you can watch more than once and enjoy it each time!

Another great Kevin Costner movie to add to my collection! He played a grest role! Robert Duvall is absolutely amazing as always. I will definitely watch this movie again before a year has past! Growing up in a family that raised cattle for many generations past to present, I remembered making a couple cattle drives as a kid when our uncles pushed their and my mom's cattle from pastures several miles away to their home pasture to vaccinate them. There was at least 6 families of cattle. As an adult, i also raised cattle but be moved them by trailer from pasture to pasture. That wasn't as .uch fun. I bet it would have been so much fun pushing cattle for such a long distance and sleeping under the stars(except in freezing weather) like in this movie. I was born way too soon! If you like cowboy movies, this is one to see...and buy!!

Not gonna lie to you. Never have and never will so...Here goes! Buy this DVD (or Blu Ray) and watch it with your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, parents, kids, entire family, neighbors, etc. Be prepared to be thoroughly content with your purchase and to know that this is a film you will seek out to watch every month or so. Or more. It is THAT GOOD! I gave this particular copy to my brother and his wonderful wife. Then I drove 800+ miles to watch it with them. Yes. I am a serious Cinema Viewer, LOL! They truly enjoyed the film and are more than happy to have it in the collection. Oh yes. I own a copy too. Yuppers! This film is HIGHLY Recommended by your humble reviewer. Well... As "humble" as I can be...LOL! Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

This DVD has a great brand and quality.I love all the characters in this movie.Robert Decal is my man.

This is a “Timeless Classic Movie” with two iconic actors, who help to bring the harsh realities of the brutal conflicts between powerful ranchers and the powerless.

We had a hard time finding this movie for my mother in law, but Best Buy came through in the clutch! This was purchased as a DVD vs Bluray as I don't think they have released the bluray version of this yet. Movie is about ranchers that are driving their cattle across land when they swing through a little town and all heck breaks loose. If you like Westerns, you will like this movie.

Movie came in great condition, nothing damaged. Got a great deal on 2 copies when everyone else was way more expensive for just one of this hard to find movie.

I was looking for blu ray but DVD is fine. Audio is great and no editing of the program.

Just a GREAT movie....well written and very believable considering the time period.....both Costner and Duvall are excellent actors and so are the supporting cast

This is probably my favorite western (or at least a close second to Tombstone). The scenery, the plot, and the gun fight at the end are great.

This is my son's favorite movie. I heard that his DVD of Open Range got scratched so I purchased one for him for Christmas with a new Sony blue ray player.

Waiting for this movie to come out on blu ray, but it never did. My husband wanted this movie, so I got it for him as one of his Christmas gifts.

It's about cowboys taking their cows to graze in the open range. A cattle baron objects-he uses the range for his own cattle and has guys roughs up some of the cowboys, even killing one. Justice is served by the cowboys and a few towns people.

Had to add this movie to my collection. Great scenery and great actors.....

A great movie about the American West and the dangers it imposed.
