This album is good and I do like it, I just miss the heaviness of some of their other albums. If you are more into prog and less into the metal aspect you will probably really enjoy this album. Fans of the heavier stuff may want to give it a listen before buying.

Opeth keeps growing musically and lyrically with each release. P.C. is no exception. Problem is it is hard to pick or have a favorite recording from these guys. They are all that good.

I love Opeth. I have everything they've released. And I got into them when they were playing progressive death metal. It's what endeared me to them, it's what lured me in. And now, the death metal appears to be completely gone. Opeth started to distance themselves from their past on their previous album, "Heritage." While I knew going in that there were no longer any death metal vocals, it was still a decent album for what it was, but it was also somewhat underwhelming. Opeth has always been known for great musicianship regardless of what type of vocals they were employing, but "Heritage" was a bit short on that. "Pale Communion" once again proves that Opeth can be great without death vocals by making up for it with tremendous musical chops. While I've only listened to this album once, and it's not quite the shock to the system in terms of change of musical direction as "Heritage" was, you can tell the music is simply better. I can't wait to give this a few more spins and discover even more of the greatness that I missed the first time around.

Great musicianship, great vibe, great production. One of the best records in 2014. Overall an amazing progressive rock album.

This is Opeth's 11th studio record. It does not include growls just like it's predecessor, "Heritage." Heritage was more of a progressive / psychedelic record per say as Opeth were finding a new sound. Though that album wasn't perfect, it was a start. This new observation, "Pale Communion" shows the band build on that sound from Heritage and add even more elements making this a fine release. Standout performances from all members of the band on this one.

Opeth has been steadily moving toward clean vocals with their songs and this album continues in that direction, nary a growl to be heard. The songs have also gotten more progressive in nature which really shows the dynamic contrasts between the mellow and heavy parts. While some would prefer that Opeth stick to their earlier output exclusively, I rather enjoy the direction they have taken, and I still enjoy their older material as well.

For fans of the heavier Opeth stuff, look elsewhere. This is another melodic metal triumph from the only band that can pull off symphonic sound while maintaining true metal heaviness. Another great album and highly recommended for fans of Opeth's Damnation album. I would give it 5 stars, however many people have had issues with the accompanying blu ray disc.

Fantastic album by the Swedish band, still going forward in their musical quest for excellence. It takes a few listens to get familiar with the songs but once they kick in they will follow you everywhere. More progressive than ever, more melodic than ever, more intimate than ever, Ackerfeld and Co. are just amazing.

Opeth retern with a follow up to "Heritage". If you are looking for an old school album that fits along the lines of "Blackwater Park", this album is not for you. However, Opeth have gone back to their Classic and Progressive Rock roots to deliver solid piece of music. Approach with an open mind and you will LOVE this album.

Dropping most of the "metal" and going full on progressive rock is a continuation of their last couple of albums into a full-fledged prog band. Another milestone in a long career and one of my favorites of the year. The Blu-Ray surround sound mix by Steven Wilson is icing on the cake!

Previous work tended to tell you that Opeth was going down the ambient or classical music path. , It is not the heavy metal and quite honestly i Iike the direction the band has taken. This album will alienate some of the hard core fans but open you mind and you may be surprised.

Much better than "Heritage," this album is what that one should have been. Although Michael's not screaming again, the music is classic Opeth while still keeping up with the contemporary Progressive Metal genre. Definitely more on the heavy side, I was glad to hear it.

Pale Communion sounds more like a 1970s progressive rock album than a new-millennium progressive metal album. With its heavy organ and soaring vocals, it can stand up to greats like Rush and Yes.

Very blues rocky with Opeth's epic melodic sound that is characteristic with their last album Heritage as well as Storm Corrosion with the amazing Steven Wilson. A true must have to anyone who seriously listens intently to the music. Embrace it !!!

I think this is one Opeths' best recordings yet. No "growls" for the purists though, I'm OK with this though. The music and lyrics are typical Opeth quality. Might have a touch more groove than other Opeth recordings of the past.

Similar to their last album 'heritage'. I like this one better though. There are no metal growling vocals again - they're all clean. Nice prog rock album with dark metal undertones that you maybe familiar with on Opeth albums..
