I replace a older high end Panasonic projector that was rated #1 overall the yr I purchased it.This projector only cost $150 bucks more on sale than replacing the Panasonic factory bulb..I got dumb, and tried a Amazon $50 replacement, which was totally junk for video games,or anything other than the security cameras ..so I took a chance with optoma, a brand I had never used,or heard of..turns out it was the best move, not only can I see the picture in day light,in my totally blacked window less room the picture is just so clear, sharp, totally stunning just absolutely perfect really crisp clear colors..I see no reason to spend 2500 bucks ever again,..save your money, and get this on sale for $599, put the rest into a screen,or speakers..I haven't tried the10w speakers because I have it hooked up to a bose system...it really took under 10mins to hook it up...can't say enough good things about...although time will tell how long it lasts...those pictures were taken without any adjustment done, other than zoom on the xboxone ,the camera pictures are live shoots from about 25 feet away,un mount sitting on top of a cable box..I used a iPad to take the photos of screen shots,so in person it looks ten times better....

I got this projector to upgrade my home theater from an old rear projection TV. I like that it is HDMI, 1080P, and DLP technology. I have a 120" screen on the wall, and put the projector about 15 feet back on top of a 43" high bookcase to project over the top of the couch. The picture is very good with 1080i Dish satellite programming like football and live news. Works fine during daylight hours, better in the evening with a small lamp on in the room. No need to watch this in the dark. But the quality is really excellent once you start streaming 1080p and 4k content from the internet. I have an amazon fire stick plugged into the second HDMI port, and the 4k videos from that source look fantastic. For audio, I use the audio out port hooked up to a Bluetooth transmitter, which sends the audio for whatever is playing to my surround sound receiver which has a Bluetooth receiver I got from amazon. Sounds great! The speaker on the projector is ok, but I don't use it, I can use the surround sound or a set of Bluetooth headphones.
The fan noise is very low and acceptable, and the controls for zoom, focus, keystone, and test patterns, and the adjustable feet make this easy to set up and center on your screen. I highly recommend going through all the setup parameters on the menu to get the best picture. The default settings were not very good, but the picture was much better after adjustments. Start by changing the default mode from Vivid to Reference, then adjust other parameters to taste.

Great for outdoor movie night

I was not for sure what to expect for $575 projector, but I have to say I was amazed at the quality. Straight out of the box I set it up in minutes, projected it on my 12 foot outdoor screen from about 16 away and it delivered an amazing picture that was vivid and bright. The internal speaker is the only knock I have, not strong for an outdoor environment. I hooked up a cheap sound bar and that solved that issue. Overall, I was very impressed.

I am not expert in this area but the Optoma HD141X is working great for me.
I narrowed down my selection 2 projectors; Optoma HD141X and BENQ W1070.
I choose HD141X because of more Lumens.
I got a chance to compare HD141X and Benq W1070 after my purchase.
1. W1070 picture is very dull due to less Lumens. I have read lot of reviews about W0170 colors but
what's the point if the picture is not bright.
HD141X picture is bright even in ECO mode compared to W1070 bright mode.
Colors from HD141X are amazing.
2. I compared the same scene in both projectors. I have seen Rainbow effect in BENQ 1070 but not with HD141X.
3. I also played some PS3 games and works great.
4. 720P picture from Youtube looks great.
5. The picture has to be atleast 720P. DVD's does not look good.
6. Out of box picture is good and even better after calibration.
7. I find very hard to find proper mount. Only LOCKTEK Pt2 from amazon was fitting.

This is a great projector for an entry level consumer. This is my first projector, I did lots of research on different technologies to fit my need. In the end I went with DLP mainly to save cost. The projector shows a sharp image, colors are bright and contrast is better than I expected. Setup was easy, simply plug in your source HDMI, plug in power and you are pretty much ready to go. Best mode for me is Cinema Mode, but your eyes may like it brighter. I'd definitely repeat this purchase again.

I purchased this projector to upgrade from my older one. I am impressed with the picture quality, no rainbows, crisp clear, good blacks. 3D picture is equally impressive. Unit runs very quit as well. Reason for the 4 stars is the zoom makes it that it needs a larger screen than most projectors.

Use it at home every day. Great picture. Contrast ratio (how well it works in daylight) is best for the price. Even used this projector for a pretty big production, it can get up to 300' projection or more and still be pretty very clear.
Projector is a little louder than I want but when you have the volume at a reasonable level it drowns the fan noise out. That's the only real downside. You do have to mount the projector straigh on to the screen but this is the case with $3k projectors and most every high end projector.

I really like this projector. It has a ton of features and tweaks you can do. The picture quality of the color is just different from Epson's projectors. Is it bad? I don't think so it's just a different type of color. I know that's weird to say but the contrast ratio is way above normal and I think that's why I love this projector, plus it runs super quite. The only downside is the power cord is really short.

Purchased this Optoma Projector in preparation for the Super Bowl this year. This is our 3rd projector over the past 10 years and this one works great!!! We have an outdoor mounted screen that is 150" diagonal picture and the projector offered perfect picture quality. Speakers are adequate but we primarily use a sound bar for better sound. Only downside is that it is hard to downsize to a picture smaller than about 7 feet (but who wants a smaller picture??!!). Awesome price for a great projector.

I love this projector. It runs super quite compared to other projectors. Their's a ton of options and tweaks you can do for the picture and color, and the contrast ratio is way better. The color does seem to be a little different compares to Epson projectors but I love all the tweaking you can do with the pictures for the color. The only thing I don't like is the power cord is really short. Outside of that it's a great projector. If your in the market for projectors just remember the higher the contract ration the better the picture id going to be/

Just got the Optoma HD141X projector today. Plugged it in, hooked up the Wii because it was close by, pointed it at a plain semi-white wall from 16 feet away and WOW, completely amazed. 150 inch screen on the wall and beautiful with out of box defaults. Changed it from Vivid to Bright and it was even brighter/nicer! I had an old Canon that I've been using and wasn't expecting much of a difference, I mean sure, some, but HUGE difference. The overall brightness is amazing and the colors just pop out, I had multiple drop ceiling square fluorescent lights on while setting things up and forgot they were on and the image was still awesome, turned off most of the lights and was even more amazing.
I did not realize that this projector even offered a horizontal shift (I think that is what it is called). Essentially if you accidentally place the screen slight off to the right or left you can press buttons on the remote to shift it sideways..
My friend has a $2,500 Sony that I helped him set up a few months ago. I have to tell you, it's hard to tell the difference with my $549 projector.
I still have a lot of work to do in order to get all of the devices hooked up, project hung, wiring, etc, but wow, can't wait to play XBox One on it.

Overall, happy with this purchase. Bought this one after reading reviews and fitting into our budget. It was intended to replace a tv in the Florida room but definitely has found more uses. Watched football outside beside a fire on the patio. The picture looks great even from 32ft away projecting onto fabric or the wall of the house. My only complaint is it refuses to cooperate in changing the angle from up high projecting down to down low projecting upwards. The installation CD arrived warped and unusable. I would recommend this projector.

I bought the Optoma HD141X projector after about 2 weeks of research and was not disappointed. The set up was easy and I was amazed at the quality of the picture. It has features that others at twice the price do not have. When I finally tried the 3D mode, I was very impressed because I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. This is my first HD projector installation and I had to make a few adjustments that I had over looked (like centering the projector to the screen since I was off about 4") but I was very pleased with the results.
The best part is that I had a limited amount of space since I have a pool table in the same room but 10' was perfect for a ceiling mount. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

This projector is awesome! Great 3D. I have a 144" screen and the 3D looks like it's 3 feet off the wall. 3000 lumens is bright enough for me to watch with the lights on if I chose, although I prefer them off. This was an upgrade to my old projector (Optoma HD 65). Night and day difference. The 3D uses dlp link technology. I found great glasses on Amazon for like $22 each. Love it.
