Poor quality, lifespan
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HDMI 2.0 port will randomly cut out while gaming/streaming content, searching for source, which is extremely annoying. After 15 months the DMD chip is already failing, showing stuck white pixels. I didn't even get a full bulb lifespan out of it before the chip failed. For $1600 get another brand like benq or Epson. I contacted Optima USA and they refuse to repair it for free as it's 3 months outside warranty. I will have to use the Maine implied warranty law with Best Buy. The projector is pretty bright, but colors arent that great. For a pixel shifting 4k projector it really doesn't look any better than a 1080p projector in the same price range. The fan is pretty loud. Like I said, for $1600 go in another direction, the input latency at 4k isn't any better than other projectors.

Beware of this junk.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is pure junk. The image is slanted on the right side. Alao there is a huge desing flaw. You have to use the internal speaker which is junk sound and loud beyond any control. But if you want to use your own, you have to disable the internal speaker which makes this huge icon on the top right corner appear and never goes away and there is no way to disable it. I wasted $1700 for this junk with desing flaws. I wish I knew this before.

Posted .Dear Optoma Customer,
We do apologize that you were experiencing this but there is a simple workaround to get the icon off-screen. In order to do that you simply need to head into the projector's main menu and go down to Setup then scroll down to Options and select Infomation Hide and set that to on. This should remove the icon, as for the internal speakers they are there so you have some audio from the start and enough to be heard in an environment like a home theater. For the best experience with a home theater setup, we do recommend using external speakers so you can take advantage of technologies such as surround sound when possible. If you have any further questions, please contact Optoma technical support at 888-289-6786 Monday - Friday 6 AM - 5 PM PST for further assistance.

Dead pixels - bad design - discontinued
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a total piece of crap. I had it for 14 months and I had a dead pixel due to a bad dmd chip. Warranty is only one year long, so I took it to a local repair guy and he messed it up to the point of no return. Shame on me for not sending it to Optoma right away, but they estimated the bill being almost the value of the projector, so I figured it was worth it to try and save the money. This unit is not even made anymore because optoma knows it is junk. I contacted Optoma and they said they wouldn't do anything for me, I even tried to go through the BBB and Optoma completely ignored my concerns. I will never buy optoma again, you should not buy this unit or buy anyyhung from Optoma, it is cheap junk and you are better off spending a few hundred dollars for a brand like Epson or LG.
