Customers highly value the UHL55 4K Wireless Smart DLP Projector's features, but some have noted concerns regarding its brightness. Several comments indicate that the brightness may not always meet expectations, sometimes appearing less bright than advertised or exhibiting a color shift at maximum brightness. The projector's luminance level has also been a point of discussion, with some users finding it insufficient in certain lighting conditions. Therefore, potential buyers should carefully consider their lighting environment and brightness needs before purchasing.

Amazingly sharp picture with fantastic HDR and smooth pure motion no rainbow artifacts that I could see. Speakers are actually very good and this functions well as a blu tooth speaker. Doesn't produce alot of heat like a conventional bulb projector and uses much less power. Only complaint is no zoom so limited placement options. I definitely recommend

Good projector for its price. 4k source seems good than the 1080. Not the same brightness as advertised. But enough light to enjoy the content and colors looks good with 4k/hdr. Native android support is not reliable and forced to use HDMI. Less machine noise.Fast auto focus only works with certain distance. manual focus works good.
For some reason, switching to max brightness turns the screen to greenish tint and had plastic smell when the projector is running for some time. returned the product.

Image quality, Great! Love it! Great details. But this projector doesn't fit well for me because of the 1500 Lumens doesn't keep up, even with the window blinds that leak light in. This projector doesn't offer great latency as playing 1st shooter games (Battlefront 2) was a struggle as I measured the delay as high as 1/4 of a sec.
My projector was about 10-12ft away, and my wall shelf had to sit pretty low as well as I had to tilt the projector down low just to get the image off the ceiling. Probably much better when mounted up-side down on the ceiling
If you plan on watching only shows and movies in a WELL light controlled room, then yes! 100% for you! I'd totally recommend it! I'm not a huge gamers, but I want friends to come over and hang out to game! And this projector will not allow that!

I got it on sale at 750$. Over all the projector was great at its price.
pros:
sound was good enough for a small room.
can connect any casting devices like chromecast or firestick and watch 4k content.
1500 lumens is good for dark room.
image quality was clear and crisp.
can connect to bluetooth sound systems for better sound.
fan noise is minimum so can't be a problem while watching.
youtube app is good, however you can't play movies you bought in youtube, have to use HDMI.
Cons:
not a replacement of TV. 1500 lumens cant produce enough light.
sometimes it produce less light after sometime it gets adjusted and produce enough light. in this case I suggest to play with image settings.
netflix app was old version, very less apps are available in it. I suggest use steaming device lie firestick, roku or chromecast.
casting app was inconsistent.
Over all the projector was good. Thought of giving 5* but smart features of the projector are not up to the mark.

Got a defective model on all fronts.

Got a defective model, there were picture issues, every other second it would go from the natural tone to a blueish/green hue. The autofocus doesn't work, the bluetooth to Sonos doesn't work. The interface is ugly outdated and has but 3 useful apps. The sound has a metallic tin can quality to it. You can't zoom the picture to fit your screen you have to physically move the projector into place. The picture quality when it worked was good but ended up downgrading to 1080p projector. At this price point to get what you pay for.

Brand response from Buster Brown

Hello - we apologize for the defective unit.
Sometimes a defective unit can have a bad MB -- the end result can be numerous features not functioning as expected. As for the zoom -- the projector does not feature an optical zoom as the projector is meant to be portable.
If you still have the unit, please contact customer service at the number below -- happy to assist you in a very timely fashion. :-)

I upgraded from the Optoma HD143X 1080p DLP projector to this UHL55 4K model. I am happy with the clear image I get from the new projector. However, this new model comes with half of the lumens (1,500) compared to the 3,000 lumens from the previous model. I notice a significant reduction in brightness when I have the lamp on in my basement. I still have 3D technology to play and watch movies with this feature. The new model is about 2 pounds heavier, but that has no impact in my case. There is a significant reduction in screen size of approximately 100 inches (200 inches) in total compared to the 300 inches I used to have from the Optoma HD143X 1080p.

Upgraded my older Optoma HD25e to this UHL55. At first I was worried about the 1500 lumen output of a LED light, but it sure seems much brighter than the HD25e rated at 2800 lumens and with far better color saturation. Even with my ceiling light on, it isn't too bad, but I only watch it with lights off anyway.
Picture is outstanding. At first I thought the blacks were way too gray with a lot of light bleed until I messed around with the settings, specifically the gamma option. I don't like that you cannot turn off the pure motion setting in some of the modes, like HDR simulation because I absolutely despise pure motion for anything other than sports.
3D is excellent on this projector and seems to have more depth than the HD25e which is nice.
The throw ratio is very short as compared with the HD25e and all the other projectors I've had. Significantly shorter. This is perfect for portable use but I mounted mine on the ceiling. My two frustrations about the short throw is 1) I needed a longer cable to reach my receiver and 2) I could not to get it to fit perfectly within the 125" screen since I would have had to mount it just slightly on my ceiling vent. Since this projector does not have an optical zoom or horizontal keystone correction (it does have vertical keystone correction), The picture exceeded the screen size because I had to mount it just slightly further back than I wanted, even after adjusting the ceiling mount as best I could to move the projector forward. Luckily it does have digital zoom, and I just had to knock it down to -1 to fit perfectly. I don't really seen any image degradation at all, but I'm coming from a 1080P, so it still looks awesome.
When I first hooked it up without connecting to my receiver (needed a longer cable due to the short throw issue), the sound was really nice coming out of the built in speakers. Almost forgot it wasn't connected to my receiver, lol. Great for people using it for portable use.
All in all, a recommended buy at the deal of the day price!

I purchased this as a second optima 4K projector for my home. The other one was set up in our movie theater and all I can say is wow!. When this one was posted as a deal of the day and the price was less than half of what we paid for the other unit, I just had to buy it. I tested it by setting it up in the movie room and it has been there since. Since this is LED and throws such little heat, we ended up using it as the primary machine. Yes, the lumens are lower by number but, they somehow seem brighter than those of a bulb based unit. It is plenty bright for us and does exactly what we want... The only downfall is the placement of the unit, there is very little lean shift so, it had to be placed in a very specific place if you wish to match the output with a fixed screen.

I have had this projector for a short while and probably would have returned it but we all know how that is at this time. I have had one issue when the projector displayed the volume icon and it wouldn't go away no matter what I tried until finally I turned the unit off and it was no longer visible when I turned the unit back on. Hope that it isnt a omen that I have a bad unit.
