Really Clean Teeth

This rechargeable toothbrush is great. The charge lasts for days and it cleans your teeth really well. The only negative I have is that after the four zones of cleaning, the toothbrush doesn't automatically stop like some other ones do. You have to be mindful of that. Other than that, I really like it.

I've been using Oral B electric brushes for a while and they do quite a good job. When I saw that there was an updated model, I was eager to try it out and see what amazing new features it possessed. Well, sadly it seems about the only thing updated was the model number.
The brush looks, sounds and feels the same as the model I was previously using...now, in white. I do appreciate the pressure guide light that shows if I'm brushing too hard but it was on my last brush and really isn't a new feature here. It also comes with the travel/charge case as the previous model. But, this time, it also comes with a small charge stand that makes keeping it on the countertop much easier. One actual improvement to the brush is on inside of this unit. It now runs off a new AI(artificial intelligence) brain which is supposed help you brush more effectively. To fully take advantage of that, you need to use the app alongside each brushing. Well, that doesn't sound too weird, I guess but the app is a mess and needs major streamlining. It literally took me 25 minutes to figure out how to just pair the brush to the app. The handle info is buried and you have to really keep an eye out for it. I've been using the app with my last few bushings and the AI can tell where in the mouth it is brushing( by sections) and the visual guide shows if you've thoroughly cleaned all your teeth. I did find out that I wasn't brushing quite long enough before using this new brush, so that's a positive. But, I doubt I will continue using the app as I find it really gimmicky and not truly essential.
Overall, it's a good brush but so was the brush before it, and before that... I really don't know if it's worth upgrading if you already have an Oral B brush from the last couple of years, but if you do, it still performs well.

An improvement over the "other guys"

So, I've used electric toothbrushes almost exclusively for the past decade. For the past several years, I've been using a sonicare model which I was reasonably happy with, except for its clunky charging solution. I had been leaning on switching brands for my next one, and- enter the Genius X.
Let me tell you what I love- it has a great method of letting you know when you are using too much pressure (and not letting the brush do the work)- both with a vibration and via a red LED light from the handle. The battery life is fantastic- they report two weeks, but I'm thinking probably even longer based on my initial use. I've had it on a couple long weekend trips, and the battery indicator never dropped even after five to six days away from the charger. It has several "settings", though I find I just use the standard "intense" cleaning mode. It does give you tactile notification at 30 second increments, as well as after the recommended two minute mark for a quality brushing. Unlike the sonicare, though, it doesn't just stop after two minutes. You get the extra buzz notification, but it keeps trucking along (I fine I'm usually running 30 seconds long, myself).
There is a bluetooth phone app that can help track your brushing time in each quadrant, as well. I'll be honest, though- while this is nifty, I'm not going to go put my glasses on so I can watch the phone guide me through my morning brushing... this is one thing I can manage without the aid of another electronic device. But if you like that sort of thing- it's available here. The travel case even has a "stand" where you can prop up your phone, should you choose to avail yourself of this feature. Like I said, not something I felt the need for.
But, as an electric toothbrush, this thing rocks. It comes with a few different types of brush heads, each with a specific task in mind, and you can find what works best for you. I'd highly recommend if you're in the market. I find it a great improvement over my previous model, and that "other" brand..

This is the second Oral B electric toothbrush I’ve had in the past 5 years. The Genius X has lots of good settings, including one to brush the tongue. It comes with a nice convenient carrying case which is also a charger. The battery last at least 3 days of twice a day use.
It’s the first brush that I can really say it makes my teeth feel clean.
It has nice LED indicators for charging, use and type brushing mode.

This joins the ever growing list of products that are to be enjoyed with a companion app on your smart device. Unfortunately, this joins the ever growing list of devices with a companion app that are really great in theory, but drop the ball in execution.
At its core, this is a tooth brush, and a really good one at that. I’ve spent about half my life brushing in the analog method, then graduated to a very basic battery powered toothbrush, and have now moved on to this, my first “pro” level tooth brush.
The hardware itself is sleek, very sturdy, and the cleaning I get is second to none. It’s honestly, the best cleaning I’ve experienced outside of a dental office.
This product comes with the toothbrush handle, three brush heads, some sort of storage/travel case, the base, and charging cord. The accompanying manual is incredibly confusing and does a very poor job being user friendly, as things should be in 2019. Those of us that are tech heavy, will recognize the manual as something likely translated from a different language and designed for mass use across multiple Oral B products. The manual references pieces of hardware that aren’t include out of the box on multiple occasions and is very poorly designed.
The battery life on this is pretty abysmal. I’d highly prefer to charge it every so often and then be able to put the cord and base away, as to not take up a bunch of room on my counter. However, despite the claim that the battery lasts for two weeks, I’ve never found it to last more than 4-5 days without needing to be recharged.
The toothbrush has multiple settings that you can toggle through for cleaning including a daily clean and pro clean, even though I’m not sure why you would want a basic daily clean when a pro clean us an option...
they also have a gentle ckesn option for sensitive teeth, a whitening mode, a gum care mode, and tongue cleaning mode. While options are great, i believe I’m more proactive about oral hygiene than most and I don’t ever feel the need, nor have the time for more than using the pro clean function, followed by 30 seconds of tongue cleaning. Do that twice a day, paired with floss, and mouth wash, and you’re going to be feeling great.
The bread and butter of this product ya the accompanying app, which is largely garbage for anyone over the age of ten. The app is supposed to help coach you to better grudging habits by showing you which areas of your teeth are cleaned and which areas to move to. This is great in theory but the Bluetooth isn’t quite accurate so you can spend a lot of time in a DJ gke section before the app recognizes its being cleaned.
The app is also supposed to be able to track your cleaning and habits, and also be synced at the times when you’re not actively using the app while brushing. Every time I’ve forgot to use the app, but synced afterwards, it’s recorded a mere portion of my cleanings, which largely defeats the purpose of tracking in the first place.
Overall the app is frustrating and really not necessary. I can see it being a benefit to teens or kids in helping teach them good habits, but any adult should know the basics by now.
Pros: great hardware and a better cleaning
Cons: the companion app is as awful as the battery life
Overall, this is a fine product that definitely has as many pros and cons. If you want a great brush, pick this up. If you’re wanting something more, this isn’t what you’re looking for.

This toothbrush is what you should expect from Oral-B. It has so many great features and many different settings. The best feature to me is the pressure sensor, which allows me to make sure I'm not brushing too hard. It's a great toothbrush overall!
