That seems to be common in toasters in a lower price range. Surprised by this one . Nice wide slots. No forcing bagels to get them to fit. Not sure I like the retractable power cord.

Toasting is even and the controls are simple and convenient - but on occasion, the led seconds remaining indicator hangs up and flickers - but even so, the toast still comes out evenly done as selected.

As long as you remove the toast after it pops up it will melt the matter applied to it. Positive thing I can say about it is there is no clock to reset at daylight savings time.

The cord on this one works well. I also wanted a stainless steel toaster and this one fits that need. However, we have had problems with the toaster mechanism "catching" when you put it down to make toast. Sometimes we have to push it down several times before it catches, especially if we are toasting very thin slices of bread. I do like the removable crumb tray. It is metal, but has a plastic edge so that you always avoid burning your fingers.
