Food Doesn't Stay In Place

Whenever we tried to shut the lid and press a sandwich, the food kept sliding right out of the press. The way the lid works, it pushes the food out of the machine instead of resting down on top of it. And we tried to close it every which way we could, in case we just weren't doing it correctly. Nothing worked.
