Customers are delighted by the RapidCrisp Digital Air Fryer Oven's ease of use, compact size, and effective air frying capabilities. Many appreciate its sleek design and precise temperature control, although some users find the buttons somewhat unresponsive and wish for an interior light. A few also mentioned the power cord could be longer. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and cooking performance outweighs the minor concerns about certain features.

Oster has long made quality small appliances for the kitchen. Coming from that base, I expected this new Air Fryer/Oven combo would awe me.
The good, the bad, and the ugly of the DAF2 model are:
*Coming out of the box, the oven looks small. It has less width and more height than other toaster ovens I have owned. Turns out, it is just wide enough to manage a 12” pizza.
*The writing on the box says there are 9 digital touch controls for bake, broil, toast, air fry, convection, defrost, fries, and dehydrate. That is not correct, as those functions are selected by turning a knob. The items that work by touch are Start, Cancel, Temperature up/down, and Time up/down, and they can be a little finicky.
* The “Rapidcrisp Technology” is a turbo function designed to provide crispness in quick time, and it does work well.
* The turbo convection is designed to provide faster and more even cooking. It is definitely fast; however, my experience cooking lasagna contradicts the even cooking. About 2/3 of the lasagna was fine (nicely done with gooey cheese on top and tender pasta under), but the other 1/3 was blackened (cheese burned to a crisp and pasta overcooked).
*The Air Fry function did well with fries: crisp and done. Breaded chicken breast filets were a much different result. Using the suggested settings, the chicken was crisp on the outside but only half-cooked on the inside.
*The DAF2 model does not have a pizza preset or an interior light. If those features are must haves, the instruction manual shows them available on a DAF1 model.
As I said in the title, this oven is OK, but far from great. It is fine with simple tasks like fries, but I don’t find it dependable for more involved cooking tasks.

I really like the look of this oven, and how it blends in with the rest of my stainless steel appliances. I currently have an updated model of another air fryer, and wanted to go with an oven model, so I can see if there's a difference in the way that it cooks. The first thing I made was some hot wings, and it came out a little too crispy, so you kind of have to be careful of the temperature and minutes you set. The next thing I made was french fries and it came out great! I also made some cinnamon toast for breakfast one morning and that came out even better than when I cook them in the oven. The problem I have with the air fryer, is that it doesn't pause when you open the door. You literally have to turn it off to pull your food out to check it. Hopefully they'll add this feature later on down the line. I would also like to see some type of illumination inside so you can look through the window and see the progress like my regular oven. Last but not least, I would like to see it cook a little more evenly instead of the top being more cooked than the rest of the food. Other than that I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Good sized, multi-function Air Fryer oven!

Over the last couple of years, we have become a big fan of our bucket-style air fryer. I will use it quite often for cooking quick individual meals that I would have normally used a microwave for (such as chicken nuggets, chicken patties and even hot dogs) because it just cooks up better in the air fryer. The one downside to it was the amount to be able to cook in it at one time, and with teenage boys seem to want to eat twice as much as me, it just wasn't feasible time-wise to cook any family-sized meals in it (would use it to make a side or two). So, we decided to try something with a little bigger capacity to better fit cooking some other items we like and went with the Oster RapidCrisp Digital Air Fryer Oven.
Looking at it, the overall design is nice, with stainless steel/dark gray front, which does match well with the rest of our appliances. The footprint isn't too big, but it definitely not small (about 15.5" x 13")
This is much more than just an air fryer, with 9 different function settings: Air Fry, Toast, Bake, Convect, Broil, Dehydrate, Keep Warm, Defrost, and Fries. The function is selected using a dial knob. So far, we have tried all but three (the Keep Warm, Defrost and Broil). There are also the temperature control touch buttons as well as the timer control touch buttons.
One thing I have noticed is that sometimes, at least with the timer buttons, it doesn't always register the tap. One time, I tapped more than 5 times before it started to change the timer value (and this seems to be worse when the oven is still warm from use). Also, the timer can only be changed in 1-minute intervals, which I feel could have been better with at least 30-second intervals (so you don't have to always watch and wait to stop it between minutes if needed).
For baking, toasting and other non-air frying, it comes with a typical wire rack and a baking pan. Also, there is an air fry basket, as well as a removable crumb(/drip) tray (that slides into/out of the bottom of the oven).
The useable dimensions/volume is 12" W x 12" D x 6" H, or almost 15 qts. (almost 3 times as big as our other air fryer), so it can handle cooking larger portions. But, of course, you can't just fill it up like a bucket-style air fryer. It uses the mesh-style air fry basket, which is only 1.25" deep, but at least the food can be spread out more to be cooked more consistently. The basket doesn't slide in by itself, but must sit on top of the included baking pan (which I'm not sure how much that affects the airflow, but it still cooks the bottoms just enough). I would have liked to see a standalone slide-in air fry basket or rack (or two) instead of the air fry basket that has to be placed on the baking pan. Also, we've found the basket on the pan setup makes it a little difficult to remove the pair using oven mitts/hot pads.
Using the Air Fry function, we tried cooking several different things, from vegetables (carrots, snap peas, asparagus, and fries) which turned out well, reheating restaurant chicken tenders, frozen chicken patties, and hot dogs (if you haven't tried this, it is as good as on a grill). We haven't tried cooking a full family meal yet, but will soon.
We even cooked some deserts, the first being an air fryer oven chocolate chip cookie recipe. That cookie recipe had a batch cooked using Air Fry, then on Bake, and then a couple of days later, using Convect with same cookie dough that had been portioned and frozen. The Air Fry cooked the tops faster (as you might expect) and left the insides a little softer and the bottoms not cooked as much (but enough as to not be doughy). The batch with Bake and even the Convect using the frozen cooked a little more evenly and more thorough (but all was were good!!). Then, most importantly, a recipe for air fried personal pies that we had been making in our other air fryer (though, not very easily). Overall, It actually cooked the pies much faster than the other and were just as good, but the bottoms could have been cooked a little more (which may have to do with the possible airflow problem of sitting on the baking tray I mentioned earlier).
For at least the Air Fry function, something that I feel is missing that we are used to on our other air fryer is the ability to pause the cooking to check the doneness or to rearrange the items. It just keeps cooking and running the time. So, be sure to account for any additional time to do that when setting the timer. Also, even if you are an air fry expert, you will still need to keep an eye on things the first few times to get the timing down.
We tried the dehydrator, using a thinly-sliced apple. They did turn out good, but for the time it takes, then the little time it took to eat them, not sure it was worth it. We may eventually try making jerky some time.
And finally (well, actually was the very first thing we cooked in it), the Toast function. The toast shade is selected from a 1-7 range, which sets the amount of time to cook it (the instructions say to adjust using the time buttons, but you can also use the temperature buttons). The toast came out quite well, even toasting on the top and bottom (with the lines from the wire rack on the bottom). Definitely need to watch it to get the exact level of toasting you want. We will eventually try making garlic bread and cinnamon toast (and probably not at the same time). We can now finally get rid of our old toaster oven (that has been sitting in a cabinet unused for at least the past 10 years).
It is mentioned that it can cook up to a 12" pizza, but after measuring, it definitely cannot be any bigger than that, and that size may even be just barley too big (front to back, the baking rack is only 11.5" with just a little more room between the rack edges and the back wall or front door).
One design feature that I feel could have been done just a little differently is the oven door stop arm. It doesn't stop it at a flat/level/0º angle. It will open just below that, which is fine if you plan on having near or at the very edge of the counter. But if not, or if not far enough back for it to rest on the handle when open, it will open with the front making contact with the counter. That may not be an issue for you, but I am a little worried about possibly getting some damage, or at least scratches, with our granite countertop (especially since it is not a rounded top edge. We just have to remember to put something down on the counter to protect the door.
All in all, this is a nice multi-function countertop Air Fryer oven that definitely will be well used, but just needs a few improvements to get it to the top.

Upgraded and improved Oven

I am so happy with this upgraded version. Full disclosure: I have a very similar model from Oster. However, this new model has a rubberized knob and left/right buttons to make temperature and time selections. Needless to say, this is a no-brainer when compared to the other model that only had stainless steel knobs to control everything. I no longer have to worry about my greased-up fingers slipping on the knob and being frustrated trying to set the oven. This is not something most people think about when buying a toaster oven, but it is a huge nuisance. With the comparisons set aside, lets focus on how well this oven performs. I use it almost exclusively for the air fryer feature. Everything cooks evenly and comes out great. Of course, I do the usual toast feature and the convection baking from time to time. Everything I have tried cooks well and I no longer have complaints about Oster. Highly recommended for a multifunction countertop appliance.

I can say I have been around my fair share of air fryers. This air fryer falls under the category which I have dubbed since the tender age of 15 as a "crispifier". No air fryer or oven has achieved the status of my friends 10+ year old toaster oven which lives rent free in my mind... until now.
I judge any kitchen appliance by the number of buttons it has. The less buttons the better. This means less preprogrammed times and temps and weird features I'm never going to use. This one only has four with two selections being temp and time.
My hats off to Oster. They managed to stick a selection wheel on a toaster oven. Practicality, ingenuity, delicious pizza, dehydrated fruit snacks, wings, fries, and chicken thighs. You cannot go wrong with this air fryer. I think everyone should own one. It quite literally has changed the way we eat in our household. A great addition to any home chef or stay at home cook with a little army to feed.

Although this one is a little smaller on the inside than my previous fryer, the functionality is much easier. I like the digital display - easy to use, multiple modalities for air frying, baking, toasting, etc. The quickstart user guide and the larger guide are extremely handy, giving simple instructions for optimal, easy use. Toasted leftover pizza, for example, and it was super simple to use; my pizza was crispy and yummy, unlike microwaving.

My previous toaster oven is now 10 years old and while it still works, is fading fast and looks awful.
The Oster seemed the ideal upgrade replacement. It was much larger, both inside and out which was ok since I have a large counter top. I did not count on it getting so hot and requiring so much 'space' away from cabinets and wall. My wall is brick, but I still wonder as it does get hot.
Toast seemed lost in the big oven size, and defintely took longer than my old over. The toasting was more even. I don't cook a lot but I tried cooking a pre-made dinner and pizze. The pizza was easy and a 12” fit with no problem. The dinner cooked evenly but seemed to take a long time. I may also mention it did heat up the kitchen more than expected, and I noted the plug got quite hot.
Knobs were clearly marked and easy to understand. Construction seemed sturdy and fit well in my kichen. The stainless steel finish is defintely classy.
It was missing one important item- no interior light. That would have been a very nice touch.
So apart from the missing light, and the 'hot' oven, I am please with my new oven. I will watch the heat and placement as that does concern me.

if you are looking to save space, this is a great appliance to have. we have mainly been using this for the air fryer which works great as well as just the oven part to toast bagels and bread and make smaller pizzas. it heats up like a toaster so a lot faster then waiting on your oven to heat up. easy to use and looks great.
also easy to clean. has a drip pan in it that comes out easily when you want to clean it.
my only complaint i would say, and not really a complaint, but will say this. the air fryer is great and works well but not quite as good as a air fryer. take just a bit longer to air fry food. but still worth having and if you are debating on if you want a toaster oven, or air fryer etc this does it all so highly recommend as this will save you room and does a great job.

I decided to try the fries function to see how well they would do. Every time I cook fries in my regular oven they just aren't done enough. The default setting is 450° and 15 minutes so I thought I try that. Went to check them at 10 minutes and they were burnt. Not a bad thing I just need to adjust my time. So I would definitely recommend this oven. It's compact as well but will still accept a frozen pizza. I bought it for the all in one features so now I can get rid of the air fryer.
