Posted .Yeah, you definitely need a MagSafe-enabled case to be able to facilitate the "locking" connection with this OtterBox car mount, Or as you said, you could go without a case, but if you're using just a standard one then that would explain the poor performance.

Worst Otterbox product which is surprising…

Placed phone on it as it gently attached via the magnet on the back.. phone fell. Thought, ok, maybe I placed it wrong. NOPE. The actual main piece is held by two 3/16 pieces of plastic attached to the clamp that holds on to the AC vent broke! Very disappointed in this product. Be warned..

Quality Control Issues

The clamp would not open. I assumed I must be missing something and asked for help in the store but they agreed that it was defective. Best Buy’s return was easy as always but unfortunate that quality control is so poor.

The pads that grip the mount to your vent may have 'settled' together, making it difficult to depress the button that separates them. We recommend inserting a thin, ridged item such as a butter knife between the pads to separate them. We're sad that you ended up returning your mount, but we hope you choose to give us another chance in the future!

Since both that unit and your iPhone 13 utilize Apple's MagSafe technology, as long as you're also using a case that was designed for that then you should be good to go. Perhaps there is something wonky going on with your particular mount or case.

BROKE BRAND NEW CAR VENT.

I was looking for something MagSafe as well as something small and discreet to hold my phone. Minutes after purchase, I went out to the car to put it in (still in the parking lot) It was very difficult to push the button down and get the clamps open it was almost like the rubber pieces had adhered together and no matter how hard you squeezed, it didn’t work. Returned it. Got a different one (exchanged) went out to the car and it broke my car vent.. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR LAST WEEK. BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT 3 MILES… BROKEN VENT. MUCH APPRECIATED WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. I HAVE COMPLETELY LOST FAITH IN OTTERBOX. VERY VERY MAD.
